I didn’t do anything with the child theme yet. I’ve just uploaded the version that was supplied in the zip from Themeforest and activated it. There is no custom code in there yet.

Files from the mobile folder cannot be modified through the child theme at the moment. The elements that can be modified are mentioned in the child theme tutorial.
Those files can only be modified in the main theme.

I just installed the new Thrive Architect plugin to design my pages. I don’t like the page builder, and I was trying to get something better than Visual Composer. But, the thing is that without these two provided layout tools, I cannot get rid of the page Title when selecting the Default page layout in the edit mode of a page.
Is there a way to have blank pages with Newspaper? I mean, you can get rid of the breadcrumbs, but the title still remains… Is creating a child theme to modify the page template the only option?

How to deal with styles.css and functions.php that are under ‘mobile’ folder and created specifically when the website is viewed on mobile devices. Should I simply copy functions.php and style.css after creating a new directory ‘mobile’ under child theme?
Above I am talking about the mobile related folder of main theme, not about td mobile theme which we need to install as a plugin.

When installing and activating the Newsmag-child, some of the blocks/modules get messed up. The whole sidebar is empty and the widgets in footer 1, footer 2 and footer 3 are now all vertically of each other in footer 1. I’ve checked the contents of the custom functions.php, but can’t find the source in there. I have the feeling that a certain hook to the Newsmag API is missing for said modules.
In case it’s relevant, the sidebar contains 4x block 15. The footer uses Newsmag style 2, with Footer 2 being a Block 7 and Footer 3 being a custom menu.

1. I understood that the child theme can also not be future proof, if any of the files that I added in child-theme get modified in original theme as well.
But what about Styles.css and functions.php? How does child theme load style.css? Does it use stylesheets code from original theme and child theme both? If so, then how?
What if there are two codes written for customization of same elements on both original theme CSS and child theme CSS. Which will be finally displayed on the live website?
Does child theme makes calls from style.css and functions.php from both original theme and child theme to display it on live website?
Does this affect the speed of site as well?
There are manily few core font name, size and color changes done by me on the original style.css of my theme. How can I keep it secure and stable even when I make an update of the theme?
functions.php is usually remain unchanged with theme updates but for better update-proof ness, should I add the custom code to the child theme functions.php and remove it from main functions.php?

The purpose of a child theme is to be able to make customization and modifications to the main theme, without losing them in case of a theme update.

If you plan to use a child theme, remove the custom code from the main theme files and enter it in the child theme files.
However the modifications you make for a theme element through the child theme are not fully future proof. If this element is subject to modification in a theme update, the child theme customization may not work properly or at all. It would require adjustments.

With every new theme update, I always have to make a few changes in the theme’s core file and now I am fade up with this.
There are two main files that I have to customize in the core theme file. 1. Style.css 2. Functions.php
( I am not talking about custom CSS but the real style.css file under theme)
Is there a way by which I can keep these changes in functions.php and style.css stable/fixed using child theme even after updating theme?

The theme has no problem with nginx, but it deoes have with untested plugins.
Please disable all plugins except the page builder, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Template is missing. Standalone themes need to have a index.php template file. Child themes need to have a Template header in the style.css stylesheet.

Please keep in mind that what you want to do is a BIG update and the theme will be broken because it is totally another theme, sorry!
In order to achieve the best results after you will install the latest update you have to follow some rigorous steps like this -> you have to delete both of your themes, child theme, and main theme. All your customizations from your Newspaper 4 theme will do not work because all the files from this were changed in Newspaper 8.1 and as the main theme and also you lose all changes.
The Newspaper 8.1 is a whole new theme so an update from 4 to 8.1 may cause the same issues as switching to another theme (but we did try to maintain compatibility where ever possible).
Always make a full backup of your current installation – https://codex.wordpress.org/WordPress_Backups and then do a clean update, meaning that we recommend that you delete the old version of the theme before uploading the new one – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ update also the plugins that come bundled with the theme files from the /plugins folder. In the “how to update” guide is specified that you will have to run the script that will import from database your settings.
The shortcodes have been changed so old ones will not work anymore. Please note that old files customization or custom CSS will not work with the new version and you will have to adjust or re-add them. Bottom line is that newspaper 8.1 is a whole new theme built from scratch.
Unfortunately, you will have to clear your agenda and spare a bit of time to adjust all your settings to the new version of the theme.

Hi,
Please try to deactivate all your plugins except theme plugins. Then clear any caching installed. It could be a plugin conflict, this way you can determine if a plugin is to blame.
Check any custom code you might have entered in theme panel, or added to the theme files. If you use a child theme, switch to the main theme and see if this has any effect.
Also try deactivating and deleting the tagDiv composer plugin, then install it again from the theme package.

There should be no such problem with how the module thumbnail or meta display in any layout settings. Please check again, the issue is not happening anymore. Check if you have custom code in the theme panel related to the block or module, or if you use a child theme. This should not happen, but it can be caused by custom code.
