Hello,

It seems your menus section is not working properly. It may be due to a plugin conflict.
Please disable all plugins except the page builder, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Thank you!

With Newspaper 8 this functionality is gone.
I am using child theme (provided by you) and until v8 everything was working as expected. It stopped working after the update.

I replaced the file in the child, i even tried making the change directly in the core.

Anything changed?

Hi,

First disable all your plugins except the ones provided with the theme, clear any caching installed and check to see if the problem is still happening. It could be a plugin that is inserting that huge volume of text in the excerpt
https://www.screencast.com/t/2XrBKxbddK
Also check or remove any code entered in the theme custom code sections from theme panel, or added directly to the theme files. If you are using a child theme switch to the main theme, maybe this is causing the problems.

Thanks

Hi,

I have already tried the code in the child theme and it is applying like it should on my end, and so it should for you. So the problem is not the child theme or the code. Try entering other custom codes and see if they work. Maybe you have caching on the website, you could try clearing the cache. Or maybe simply the child theme is not active, in the themes section.

Thanks

Hi,

This is a strange problem. A theme re-install should resolve the problem but it seems the issue has been carried along. Please use this method to make a fresh install
https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Also deactivate the tagDiv composer plugin from the plugins section and leave only Visual composer active, the tagDiv editor is activated from the moment you updated the theme.
If you are using a child theme switch to the main theme, also check or remove any custom code you might have entered in the theme panel custom code sections.
If after you install the theme as mentioned and following all the advice, the issue is not resolved, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information so we can take a look. Also paste a link to this topic in your email.

Thanks

Hi,

That should not happen, the theme creates the required container classes by default. I suggest you try an disable all your plugins except the ones provided in the theme package, clear any caching installed and check again. Maybe a plugin is interfering with the theme.
Also check any custom code you might have entered in the theme panel, or added to the theme files directly. If you are using a child theme, switch to the main theme to rule this out as well.

Thanks

Hello,

Sorry but I do not understand how you want to align the sharing buttons. They do not appear miss-aligned on your site. Please provide more details to what you are referring to.
As for the twitter link, This should also display in a new tab as you can see here: https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/wordpress-news-magazine-charts-the-most-fashionable-new-york-couples-in-2016/

Yours seems to be affected by an external source so please disable all plugins except the page builder, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Hi,

First try disabling all your plugins except the ones provided in the theme package, clear any caching installed then check to see if the problem is still there. Also remove any theme modifications you might have made and disable the child theme if you have one.
If the issue is still present you could try a fresh theme install using this method

Thanks

Hello Simon;
Thank you for your reply…
This was actually what I was trying to explain. It seems to be working at “Live editors /Inspectors) but wont work when you place the code on child-theme. Would you please try it on your end. Something wrong here…

Hi,

Both the codes seem to be valid, and working properly
https://www.screencast.com/t/ribtSzaEiO4
Just enter the code in the child theme’s style.css file and it will be used by the theme.

Thanks

Hi,

I can assure you there is no problem in the theme regarding the post content. Almost every issue is caused by plugins or theme modifications by custom code entered in theme panel or through a child theme.
I see there is a problem in your homepage
https://www.screencast.com/t/jBhhB9cD
This seems to be caused by the excerpt content for a post
https://www.screencast.com/t/k9SpsfsaDmh
In the posts, and I checked almost all of your posts, I do not see any problem what so ever.

Thanks

Hi guys,

I minified the theme’s style.css but didn’t minify the child theme’s style.css which contains almost nothing. Since then this last suggestion stopped working for some reason.

The following line of code is in my theme panel’s custom css field:
article.category-179 div.td-g-rec-id-content_inline {display: none !important;}

but the inline ad loads again.

Can a recent theme update be the reason for this to stop working? Any ideas?

Thanks!

a) see the theme docs on how to install, right side of page
b) presumably you have the zip files downloaded from themeforest? FTP is best way as you can make full backup of your files first; and you should be making a download of your WP dbase through
1) WP panel > export
2) phpmyAdmin/hosting panel > save/export Php dbase used for your site
3) make copies of any special settings for things like sidebar widgets, or custom code boxes used in prior theme — save out to text file
c) you will want to install the Newspaper.zip, not the ‘all files’ zip
d) the child theme is a child of Newspaper, not child of any other theme; meaning, generally you don’t need to use child theme unless you have specific reason to do so

(( I don’t work here; just some basic advice. ))

Purchased the theme but super unclear how to activate it, without losing months worth of content. Someone ‘helped’ me setting it up with Visual Composer bloatware which I not want and deleted, just want to simply activate the Newspaper -child- theme I paid for. Tried some things in Theme Panel but no way to install the theme as it is. Support will be will be highly appreciated.

Hi guys,

How can I stop breadcrumbs from loading on mobile devices?
FYI: We don’t use the tagDiv mobile theme. We use a child theme.

Thanks!

Good day.

I am trying to replace the “Trending Now” navigation buttons to 20px more to the right side via Child-Theme.

I did the steps shown here just like how it is there.

But some how it this code (FIRST ONE WITH WITH BG COLOR WORKS FINE) wont do the job.

No, there is no issue with the update. It works properly and has been thoroughly tested. It is your install that has problems, not the theme. Please disable all plugins except the page builder, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

If the issue is still there Please contact us on our email address at contact@tagdiv.com and provide a link to your site and wp-admin (login information and admin rights) so we can login and investigate. Please also include a link to this conversation.

Thank you!

Hi,

If your custom code is valid, it should apply regardless of how it is used. Either by the theme panel custom code sections, or through a child theme. Please provide some examples of the code you are using.
Here you can see how you can use the browser inspector to identify the elements on the page and their classes, in order to create custom code
https://forum.tagdiv.com/create-custom-code-using-the-browsers-inspector/

Hello,
This means you did not create the child theme properly. Please use this guide to properly make a child theme and be mindful of what you customize: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
A child theme is for advanced users that want to customize the theme code and know what they are doing. We cannot offer support for user made customization.
