Did you had any errors when you installed the demo? What do you mean with no completed?
Please note that installing the demo will not look exactly like our live demo: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/ You will have only some categories,posts, pages like an example, you can create your own categories… and more items to the menu.
Also if you installed the plugins that come with the theme’s files you need to activate Visual Composer as the theme need this plugin to work: http://screencast.com/t/bPyeMpp2qtV

Check to see if you have a “user roles” plugin running which sets who can do what.
With some versions of Visual Composer I think they have a settings page also which can disallow authors/contributors from doing some things. Have not had to deal with that myself.
I purchased the Newspaper theme last night. The key was the magazine style homepage.
Whenever I create a homepage everything seems to be working -I can add blocks and update the settings – but when I go to update the page it simply wipes all my changes from the visual composer. And I am welcomed to Blank Page – I have no content yet!
I can also not preview any of the changes.
All I have managed to get to appear on my homepage is a latest articles list.
I also haven’t been able to get the big slider to work.
My site has existing content (600 posts).
I have deleted the WPBakery plugin and reinstalled from the provided files. I have deactivated all my other plugins and even deleted some redundant ones. Still no luck.
I’m at a loss. Without a magazine style homepage the theme is lovely, but redundant to me. I’m the first to admit that I’m new to wordpress, so I really hope its something I’m doing that I just can’t see through.
Any suggestions?
I love this theme but there are a few things that I want to remove from the theme. I am using Newspaper child theme. These are the following things that are causing problems for me:
-
1: I personally don’t like the smooth scrolling effect. How Can I remove it from via child theme.
2: I want to remove the read more button.

Since version 4.4.2 the Visual Composer plugin has doubled in size and also has several new features therefore uses more resources.
The 500 error is an internal server error, I suggest you contact your host provider and let theme know about this: http://www.checkupdown.com/status/E500.html
If you have access to your error.log file, you can take a look at it and see if there’s any data that can lead to a conclusion. Also try to reduce the number of plugins and see if it happens again.

When you go back to the Theme Panel > Categories your settings are saved? Please empty cache if you use a cache plugin and also try to deactivate all plugins and leave just Visual Composer plugin active and check if you still have this issue. Often an issue with not enough memory allocated to php for your domain.
Ideally at least 128MB should be allocated, 256MB is better. Depending on your account they may limit that to as little as 16 or 32MB. Anything less than 64MB with modern themes, especially those using something like Visual Composer, and all those fun options like infinite loading, etc., all are queries via ajax and/or dbase.
First try increasing the memory allocated to php for your domain, or ask your host what the current limit it.

I have just purchased Newspaper, such a brilliantly created theme. I have one question though, the thumbnails for the big slider and other visual composer module are not displaying on mobile. It is visible using a desktop computer though.
Another thing, how to add subcategories on a module so it appears just as what you have on your demo?

as latest version 4.4.3 or previous versions of Visual Composer plugin WPBakery, always give 500 error, blocking the site.

If I have to delete the js_composer folder, then where can I download the complete folder to update via FTP?
Note that I have already updated visual composer via the WordPress plugin interface.
Making promoted post will be hard, but is there any other option. for example is it possible to use visual composer in this case? It can be image over text or smth like that.

We’ll adopt a more severe method for next version of the theme and hopefully we will prevent events like ones we had in the latest theme update.

You could try to revert back to the previous version of the VC plugin if you don’t use the latest features. If you don’t have make a request at our email address(contact@tagdiv.com) for it and we will send it to you.

Also can you please update the visual composer plugin with the currently latest version in your theme so I have the latest version installed? I believe it will be important to them to check over what is their latest version. I think the plugin you have in your downloads is a minor version behind.

Please make sure also that you have updated Visual Composer properly. You might try deleting js_composer folder entirely and update the new version via FTP.

Please empty cache and try this without any plugins active, leave just Visual Composer plugin and Seo by Yoast active and check again.

Unfortunately the theme’s full width is 1021px and also to your slider is added in a row and take the theme’s width, like all elements added with Visual Composer: http://screencast.com/t/TPx9U7WxZd You will need custom modification for this and unfortunately we cannot provide any custom work. Sorry for this.

Well we tried all the suggestions, but in the end VC and Newsmag combination is broken in our system no matter which combination we try. I have already invested too much time to trying these theme-plugin version combinations and disabling other plugins, trying with different themes.
Also in these changes our ad serving got problematic with theme changes deleting ad zone codes and I had to replace them all. Calculate lost impressions and delivery time of campaigns.
In the end CPU spike was too much pain so we have rolled back to Newsmag 1.6, uninstalled Visual Composer and changed homepage into blogroll.
Theme is great, VC is great but they don’t scale well with lots of traffic. But I still like it, it’s foundations are strong, support staff is working. I hope these problems will be solved in a month, next update etc. and we will be able to use a different homepage design and also keep it fast and bug free.

I noticed this doesn’t happen without the ads. the ads I have to add using visual composer set to work with custom ads 1 and custom ads 2.
it seams this is breaking the button. ideas?
Usually caching issue, or a plugin also using ajax in some way that is hooked into the WP admin and causing something to load twice like jquery… so, obviously if you also went back to older visual composer by completely deleting old folder and going back to prior version of VC, try turning off all the plugins EXCEPT for Visual Composer, and see if it works.
I have this issue “sometimes” even in Chrome. And I either
a) have to scroll down to bottom of page then click the save button at bottom so it’s not “floating” when I click it
b) save something ELSE then come back to it.
Stupid ajax!!!
