Have you run wpoptimize to clean up your dbase a bit? You can also have your webhost do command line duplication of dbase if phpadmin timing out. You may also be able to extend application runtime and allowed filesize in php.ini and or host panel settings.

Good first start to making backup.
Theme update does not impact dbase. Uodate via ftp.
Good idea to export your theme settings first.

Hi,

I’m not sure how that happens so I cannot give a precise answer on this now. Please give us wp and ftp access to check your implementation on this. Contact us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and we will get back to you in the shortest time.

Hello,
Please follow this guide to install the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
The theme itself is located inside of the newspaper-tf folder.
Thank you!

Hello,
Please only use the visual composer version that comes with the theme. Please disable the plugin and delete it from the plugins section and then install it again from here: http://screencast.com/t/PtNqOuhl
If the error is still there, then access your files via ftp and delete visual composer (js composer) from your plugins folder and then try to install again.
Let us know how it goes.
Thanks.

Dear Chris

I don’t understand about installing wordpress because before I hire a programmer to install my theme.
And after I see in my ftp, it had 2 newspaper folder : Newspaper and Newspaper-tf.
I tried to update the theme using this ftp method (https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/)
But it still has this notification:
Name Description
Newspaper Template is missing. Delete

Can you help me check? I can provide my cpanel for you.

THankyou

Regards,

Adi

Hello,
After you disable plugins, please also clear cache and reset cdn to make sure they are properly removed. Then test again. If plugins are not the cause, then also check your memory allocation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/search/system+status/
Also if you have custom modification of the theme files, check them again and restore the theme to it’s default state. You can also update your theme to the latest version.
If none of these do the trick then please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin and ftp access so we can investigate this issue. Please also include a link to this topic so we can identify you.
Thanks.

Hi,
Unfortunately we have no solution for it as the tool is created by envato, not us. Sorry. You can maybe open a ticket on their support for a solution as they are the devs and can provide answers to why this happens.
(we also recommend FTP: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/)
Thank you for your message!

Download from the all files zip on themeforest, unzip, upload via FTP.

simchris

Well, useful to download the zip files from your themeforest account, view on hard drive by opening the zip… then upload the version via FTP.

Version I downloaded has the updated style sheet. Also where I got the changelog info 😉

@Chris S Yeah, I saw that. I just would prefer the toolkit method if I can. It’s really easy and automatically creates a backup before updating. I guess I’m spoiled by being able to use it before so I’m hoping I can continue to use it with this new hosting. If not, then it’s not the end of the world, I can do FTP.

You shouldn’t, but good to make backup of that stuff anyway. 🙂

I always update theme via FTP which seems to work better. Remember to update plugins, too. Most of that can’t be done from WP panel.

Heh. I just posted on the update thread about that — I never use it as there is often a weird permissions error based on who “owns” the folders, such as Apache or FTP user. So, I only use FTP myself. Best “safe” way to do it.

I never use the Envato Toolkit as it can have issues with ownership permissions. I personally always always update via FTP as it also allows me to grab the entire site for download as extra backup sans dbase. So, I’m no help on that one, sorry!

They will certainly remain intact.

Confirmation of smooth update via FTP method. 🙂

Hello shihivan,

Please ensure that you have deactivated wp debug from wp-config.php core file like this -> http://screencast.com/t/iWr0W63LguQj and for more information about wp-config you should find in this documentation here -> https://codex.wordpress.org/Debugging_in_WordPress Please make sure that you have set them all the permissions for upload folder in your Cpanel/FTP.

Also, this kind of problem could come from your system status parameters and you have to increase these values in order to achieve the best result. If you do not have access to your system status file, please contact your hosting provider and then try to increase these parameters.

Please make sure your system status parameters are set properly. You can check here: http://screencast.com/t/Ka9cF6ty and then you can use this guide to see how you can increase these values: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thank you for the message!

Hi There – I have some custom code that I want to load in our header and I have been using the ‘Theme Panel > Custom Code’ entry box but this code only loads in the body and not in the header.

Is there a way through the theme panel to add custom code to the header or will I have to do that manually through FTP,etc?

Thanks

Basically create a strategy of the images thumbs you will actually need based on the block sizes actually used, plan to perhaps use more of the same module/block than a whole bunch, then turn off all the image sizes for blocks you’re not using from the theme panel.

Also, trick we use here is making the two smaller sizes in the WP > admin > media the same as the most popular block sizes, which cuts two sizes out of the images also.

Upshot, if you have 5 thumbnail sizes used, you will get 5 thumbs made for each image uploaded.

Also, another trick we use here, for images ONLY placed inside of posts, we just FTP them to our media folder, and then just load them by name in the HTML of the post. 🙂

Hi Rohan K,

We are sorry for the delay and the inconvenience! Unfortunately we have missed your post and due to the amount of support queries haven’t managed to answer you sooner.

I’ve checked your site’s homepage but found no references to that <em>..http://modernmetallurgical.com/js/jquery.min.php</em> jquery. and the theme dose not loading/using that resource.

Please send us you site’s wp and ftp login details so we can have a closer look at this and also grant us access to your site’s google webmaster area, use contact@tagdiv.com and also include a link to this tread and we will replay as soon as possible.

If you eventually do not use the theme anymore please let us know into your message!

Thank you for understanding!

Hello ArthurConan,

Please make sure that your untested plugins which you are using do not affect the behavior of the theme. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. Also, please make a fresh install via FTP by following this tutorial: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Your settings will not be affected as they are stored in the database. Simply download the latest version of the theme again and install it directly and see if your fonts work.
Unfortunately, I cannot recreate your issue and on my side, the fonts work fine by default.

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!

Thanks.

I currently have 19 duplicates of the same image:

Hi

The theme use the less files to complies the css only when it’s on dev mode but when it’s delivered to the users runs on deploy mode. Please make sure that the theme runs on deploy mode on your server: http://screencast.com/t/H1n7R3WOSOVB
Let us know how it goes and if you still can’t manage to solve this issues address us via email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide ftp access and wp-admin so we can take a closer look at this issue.

Thanks!
