Please notice that you are using an very old version of the theme, we recommend to make a full backup to your website and database also we recommend to make first time the update on a staging website were to set your current version and make the update.
Also is possible to do not work correctly, in Newspaper X the theme builder is tagDiv Composer and all the pages and templates are made using this builder.
As a suggestion, if you are using child theme or other plugins, please deactivate them, install the theme via FTP activate the theme plugins from welcome section -> https://i.imgur.com/wmVoNmX.png cehck the website and only after that activate the plugins one by one and check the website.

Please try gain, download the theme from themeforest, disable all the plugins and install the theme and theme plugins, only after that reactivate the rest of the plugins.

We made a tot of tests and if you want to do not have this problem, you need to do the theme update via FTP, in this way you’ll not change the theme and the widgets will not be removed from the sidebars. Yes, there is a new version on themefores, and yes, the theme can be install from WordPress to, but we recommend FTP because is more save, you do not need to change the theme when you make the update. Also from Newspaper 10.3.1 you can make the update using the new options from Newspaper panel.

That customer removed the theme and install it again like you do an update with FTP.

First please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate ALL plugins except tagDiv plugins and SEO Yoast, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

This could be a plugin conflict so please try to disable all plugins before attempting to install the theme plugins. Most likely there is a plugin causing the conflict.
Let us know if you still encounter the issue.

Also make sure that you have the latest version of the theme, Newspaper 10.3 and Wordpres 5.3.2
