Maybe this is just a misunderstanding. I am assuming that you are using the demo Video page template form Visual composer – https://www.screencast.com/t/doU04d0vF
If that is the case, the page will look normally, no demo style will be loaded. To achieve the same look, you need to install the demo, or style the elements yourself similarly to the demo style. For example a background can be set for the Big Grid like this

Installing the demo will provide the homepage and the custom styling, as well as it’s own settings in the theme panel.

@jnachillo The blocks will not display the post subtitle unfortunately. Subtitles will appear only in the post page. On the blocks an excerpt is displayed, a feature that has these options

If you would like to display a subtitle on a module, you can try the solution provided in this topic. You must edit the module file you want and add the code mentioned

If you are talking about excerpts, notice that all of these appears only on blocks in homepage and if you want to handle the length of them you can do it from Theme panel, according to your blocks used by you, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/rxcoQWors Notice that the subtitle is not the same thing with the Excerpts. If you want to add some additional subtitles for your posts you can do it from each post from post editor, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/6FRtq4T24

Each demo has it’s own style that is custom made for it. However it is entirely possible to recreate it.
The homepage is a a page created in Visual composer with the following elements that you mention
The Must read section is block 5 on a full row

that change will also affect the homepage modules and blocks unless you do not use theme elements in your homepage. Please provide an example where the heading tag did not change. Provide a link to your site so I can inspect the homepage.

If you want to remove the header ad only for the homepage, you should use a bit of CSS code to do that. Try the code below and place it in Theme panel->Custom CSS area.

You can create a htaccess rule if you do not want people to access your style.css and redirect the link to your homepage maybe.

I have inspected your website and I saw that you are using two different blocks/modules on homepage than category page and that’s why you bring different results. On the homepage, you are using the Big Grid full 4 which uses the module mx_21 and for category pages, I saw that you are using the Big Grid full 3 which uses the module mx_19. If you want to have the same results for both pages, you should use the same modules. For category page, notice that you can switch the modules from Theme panel, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/j9XnTKM2L

Please keep in mind that here is talking about two different things. On the website, tags means this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/OlB2OcUPLdue and the category tags means this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/5wttwxE3c0w If you want to display your Tags on your homepage, you should use WP Tag Cloud element from Visual Composer, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/xKbnrQhWu

This issue is caused due to many complex elements on your site. That causes a very high load in the serve. In this case you will simply need better hosting so all the complex elements can be supported by it. Visual composer is known to be slow and demanding and that is why people tend to find different page builder solutions. Our own page builder does not present a risk as you say as it’s developed by us not a third party. We are working hard on the page builder and it will become a very powerful tool.
Now for a solution to your ajax problem. The first one would be jot to use too many different blocks on your homepage. Using more different blocks will cause a higher load. You seem to use lots of different blocks on your homepage. Make the homepage simpler with no more than 4 blocks if your hosting cannot handle a larger number on high traffic spikes.
To reduce ajax calls, simply remove some of the pagination and ajax filters on your blocks. For mobile users, one solution could be the mobile theme plugin: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
And last but not least, check your plugins as they slow down the site radically. You also have lots of js errors in your console most likely due to plugins or customization.
