There are several Visual Composer add on’s that I am considering purchasing. Based on the the fact VC comes with the theme am I able to but these and install as normal or is there some restriction on licensing due to the theme?

All out of the sudden, without any new plugin installation or what so ever your plugin started to force my text editor (when creating a new entry) to switch from TinyMCE to HTML. I have tested:
* Switch themes with VC plugin aktivated – the problem remains
* Deactivate the VC plugin – The problem disappears
* Add the add_filter function on my functions.php – website gets broken
* When I open my browser console and type getUserSetting('editor'), I recieve the answer “html”. If I type in setUserSetting('editor', 'tinymce'), I get the answer “editor”. The I type getUserSetting('editor') to see if anything has chaged and I get the answer “tinymce”. But then when I refres, thue bug is still back on.
How can I solve this?

I have installed Disqus plugin as a replacement for the comment system. However, as I was also installing a plugin that will show the recent Disqus comments made, I could no longer edit a page because it stops loading already.
The thing is I would like to have a Disqus recent comments displayed below Accuweather widget on this page: http://dev.idealadvertising.net/gdp but I have no success. How should it be done?

I updating my themes to 6. First off all i do all backup and import settings… after that i install Envato Toolkit plugin and update themes in it.

You can update using patch files only if you use previous version for example update from 6.2 to 6.3.

Thank you for a great answer! I guess I have to set up a test-install and try both the multi-sites and qTranslate X-alternatives.
The issue i feel about using a wordpress multi site solution is mainly that I want the site to recognize the visitors language based on IP and the display the correct language (of course with an option to change it in the main menu). As far as I can see qTranslate does this.
The missing of language-based slugs/adresses is however a problem since I´m guessing SEO-rankning does takes an impact if the adress is in another language part from titles and such.
Apart from the posts and translation of them (which I assume works really well) how dows qTranslate X handles comments, menus and other “small” stuff?

I updated to newspaper 6 everything works fine and just something change the edit page screen layout now the visual editor is at the right col under page attribute and page publish not at the regular position under the classic mode. Not sure what happened, I reinstall the template it is still showing the same behavior for both page and post edit. I am using network site for my site, any idea?

Yoast SEO has had numerous bugs, check the changelog sometime to see how many bugs they have had. My contention was simply that using Yoast SEO as a “comparator” to anything else related to bugs, is not a good metric.
Total number of changelog items is clearly not a good metric for determining how buggy software is. There’s no way for a developer to anticipate how their software will work once it’s installed in a million websites. Without an analysis of the major releases, subsequent point releases, and any discovered negative impacts to the entire user base, you can’t just call WordPress SEO plugin “buggy”.
H1 is useful on home page; H2 also useful for topical elements such as section heads, but not so much for story heads ad they are ephemeral; meaning, they change daily, so they are not sticky and therefore not relevant to long-term, long-tail SERPS placement.
Blocks/modules that contain “featured content” or “most popular posts” can live on the home page indefinitely. I would argue that most niche site home pages do not change daily. If someone adds new content every day, they are likely more “authority” or “news” than “niche”. Niche sites rely on on-page SEO more heavily than authority or news sites.
If my homepage contains an H1 containing “Best Sprocket Reviews – SprocketReview.com” and an H2 link containing “Samsung Turbo Sprocket Review”, does this provide zero SEO benefit to my article in your opinion?
I only speak as an SEO expert having been building websites since March 1995… but what the hell do I know?
That’s all great but in this thread you suggested that short posts don’t rank, missing alt tags I defined are not a theme concern, 800-1200 word original content in lieu of on-page SEO is adequate for “the best SEO”, and H1 & H2 do not provide the benefit on homepages and archives to warrant adding them to the theme. I don’t think SEOs would agree with this.
Having the theme selectively add H1 to the home page is not as hard as you make it out to be. In one of my themes it’s accomplished with a single IF statement.
Having the theme add H1 and H2 to the home page and archive pages will help more users than it would hurt. Almost all of the sites listed on page one of the showcase thread are missing H1 and H2 on their home and archive pages. Sure, we can say that these users are responsible for knowing and correcting their own SEO. Or, the theme can help users who don’t know any better. The latter option is clearly better than the former.
One might also argue it’s useful to inspect the demo of a theme before buying it…
I actually mentioned the header issues to TagDiv before buying the theme (5/4 email). I purchased the theme anyway because I liked it and planned to pursue getting the SEO issues fixed. TagDiv has added the H1, H2, and Alt Tag issues to the list so, so far so good. I’ll be running more SEO tests on the theme when I get time.

I never said Newspaper was bad or buggy. To the contrary, in this very thread I said “I love the theme”, I said Newspaper was “awesome” and I said Newspaper “is not buggy”. All of my replies to TagDiv have been polite. You are clearly mischaracterizing what I said.

My bad. It seems that 4.6.3 wasn’t the latest version, far from it. Too bad for automatic update.
I guess that this was the reason why I had different screens and results.
Unfortunately, the manual update to version 6 went bad. Hopefully, I was still testing, since I’ll have to reinstall WP from scratch. We’ll see. But I hope Newspaper 6 will be the only update of its kind.

I uninstalled Newspaper a couple days ago so I can’t show you missing tags on my site. Check out this Newspaper site: “http://wfl.ro/”. SEMRush Diagnosis says 66 of 89 images are missing alt tags on the home page.
The sites you listed (http://www.theverge.com/ http://techcrunch.com/ http://readwrite.com/) ALL use H2 on the home page and category (archive) pages I checked. Thus, I’ll use your argument and suggest that H2 should be on the home page and archive pages in Newspaper.
Also, big sites benefit from other ranking factors such as millions of backlinks and domain authority. For smaller sites, on-page elements such as H1 and H2 are far more critical.
Regarding H1, do you also believe H1 is a preference and not a requirement on posts and pages?
My point about the recent Newspaper title issue was more about countering Chris’ suggestion that Yoast WordPress SEO was more buggy. I don’t consider Yoast SEO or Newspaper to be buggy. Bugs happens sometimes- it’s no big deal. You guys fixed it right was which is the most important thing.

The Visual Composer plugin it’s tested with the theme and should work fine, so you can try to deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear the cache, purge the cdn file if you’re using and test again. If the problem persist please let us know what theme version you use or make sure you use the latest version (2.0) and VC 4.5.3

Please make sure that you use the latest version of Visual Composer, install and activate it from here – http://screencast.com/t/sICGwGTQXQTh and check the version – http://screencast.com/t/pSDK3ooFurWV If you need to update the Visual Composer plugin, please delete the old plugin and update the latest version. Also remove the Child theme for version 4 and upload the version provided with the theme files, you can find it in /code folder. Please note that this is an upgrade, Newspaper 6 should be regarded like a new theme and custom modifications, custom css from version 4 will not work anymore and you will have customize it again, but were added many features in this version(blocks, modules, sticky sidebar..) so I guess that it worth the update. Let me know how it goes!

First i purchased News Theme but keep getting to support forum of Newspaper theme.
anyways, I was trying to install demo site but when importing XML i get error – “Failed to import Media “*file name*”, also have troubles with menu.
then i noticed you support up to WordPress 4.1, but i installed 4.2 most resent version, is there will be update?.
also i own Newsmag theme and was under impression this will be similar theme coz it comes from tagDiv, with Theme Panel and Visual Composer, but unfortunately this is bit stripped version of some other themes you have for sale.

If you have a demo installed and you have changed some settings, when you uninstall it the default settings will be loaded and you will lose also your changes. If you don’t want to uninstall the demo, you can only manually change the font.
