yes, so have you looked at your server error log to see what is overloading your site?

Have you installed one of the plugins which diagnose which plugins are the most system hogs, so you can possibly dial that one back or remove it?

I swear the theme can’t break your site randomly. Your setup can do that. You need to debug what’s wrong with your mix of plugins and server setup. Nobody can solve that for you remotely, magically or for free.

So, you should perhaps try my suggestions.

Or, just let it keep happening. Or wait for some similar comment from Marius or Lucian, and perhaps they will be nice enough to check for you. You’re the one managing your site, so you should try debugging what is causing the issue for you. It’s not happening on our end across multiple sites with either Newspaper or Newsmag running, with some high volume stuff.

TIP: most of the function files not found in functions.php are in the /Newspaper/includes/ folder and many are in /Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/

so if you look in there, an obvious choice might be “td_video_support.php”

and if you look at that file, you’ll see this at the top

/*  ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
    tagDiv video support
    - downloads the video thumbnail and puts it asa a featured image to the post
 */

Pretty good idea to “explore” the folders for the theme you’ve installed to see what files are there, as that is often a way to see what does what or find things on your own vs waiting for somebody else to locate it or for tech support to answer on a weekend. 🙂

Generally all featured images are put into your media folder based on the settings you have for WordPress, such as /uploads/12/13/2014/

In my case I found it was better to simply have all images load into a folder called /images/ without the date/time stamp stuff as you end up with a needless number of sub-directories.

You may want to install one of the plugins which checks overall system usage; meaning telling you which plugins are slowing down the site or using up all your resources.

Also check your site error log (see your hosting provider info on that).

Typically if something won’t load it’s due to php being overloaded, either locally for your site, or the entire server being overloaded by somebody else, and they will likely end up with their site disabled. Downside to shared hosting vs VPS or dedicated box.

The theme can’t secretly turn features on and off for your site. So, you need to debug which of your plugins is causing your php overload/timeout, which would be the reason something like VC won’t work.

Bumps don’t do anything.

The theme cannot suddenly cause something to stop working.

1) did you update something else recently that might have broken Visual Composer?

2) did you try removing the visual composer plugin (js_composer) from your plugins folder, then reinstall the version which comes with the theme?

YOU SHOULD BE USING THE VERSION WHICH IS INCLUDED WITH THE THEME FOR SITE TO WORK PROPERLY AND IT DOES NOT NEED A LICENSE. REMOVE YOUR LICENSED VERSION AND USE THE ONE INCLUDED WITH THE THEME, WHICH NEEDS NO LICENSE KEY.

If something “suddenly” stops working, this is due to action on your part or something you have installed, updated, or modified. The theme isn’t secretly changing things behind your back to turn things on and off. It’s not technically possible.

Note that the post views only counts the “views” of the pages on YOUR website. It uses a data field, which appears with the post meta (e.g., if you open a post, look at custom fields and you can see the number there).

If you were previously using another counter system, with an existing datafield, you would need to edit a file in the theme by hand to change the datafield used by the theme to your existing datafield — which is likely shown in the list of custom fields for your posts when you open any existing post.

You would change the data field used by the theme to your existing counter data field, by editing
/themes/newsmag/includes/wp_booster/td_page_views.php

and then edit this element at top of file — in this case I’ve changed the field name to my own existing data field so that the pages now show my historical counts, not just the counts since I installed theme:
static $post_view_counter_key = 'views';

I have reinstalled the whole theme to the newest version, and reinstalled visual composer but I can still not make a post OR EDIT OLD POSTS. I can not place the cursor in the field. Nothing happens. I cannot wrote or input photo. As I said I have reinstalled visual composer and put in user name and API Key. The wpbaker license code I dont have.
It is urgent that I can update my site today or my visitors goes to another site 🙁

You need to setup your home page the way you want, as found in the theme documentation here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/installing-the-demo-data/

You don’t need to install the demo content; simply choose to “import a pre-defined” style at bottom of the theme admin panel such as “sports” or “fashion.”

Or, go to create a new “page” and then choose a layout style as found here:

You can try to reinstall visual composer by deleting the old version from wp-content/plugins/ then reinstall visual composer.

If i don’t get a quick answer, i can resolve my own problems 🙂 it appear that i already have Newspaper installed in the website! i install a plugin “database reset” and i reset all option from the wp_options, and i get a refresh wordpress ! everything work fine i have newsmag installed i am trying to se some config !

Best bet is to login via FTP, and go to the folder and delete any js_composer folder in plugins.
Then manually install the plugin by uploading the js_composer folder to the /wp-content/plugins folder.

I also do not have it in the plugins to deactivate it. Just weird . I try to install the visual composer and get nothing bit errors . seems like it thinks it is there butvit is not. Please help
