Hi guys, we are experiencing this same issue on GottaBeMobile.com and are going to switch to another theme because of it until we can sort out a fix.

The issue is that your Published times are localized and don’t include a Timezone offset trailing the time stamp. If you were able to add that it would solve the issue.
Could you please take a look at this document and see that Google is asking publishers to either provide the times in UTC by adding a ‘Z’ at the end of the timestamp or present the local time, but provide an hours offset.
https://support.google.com/news/publisher/answer/74288?hl=en
In our case, our articles are hitting the Google News index immediately, but showing up as “7 hours ago” in Google’s main web search engine results page. We tried switching to another theme for part of a day and Google immediately began indexing articles in Google News and Google Web search engine results pages with the correct time stamp.
Could you tell me if there’s a way to add the timezone offset into the theme?

If you don’t have a trailing ‘Z’ to indicate that the time is UTC or a time offset, then Google will simply assume that the PublishedDate and ModifiedDate are UTC times in Google SERPs, even if the desired time is showing up in Google News.

I think it should be default on for the theme because look how fast the mobile industry is moving to web. Smart phones are getting to be the most popular thing now. So I would happy if this was a default feature in the theme. I added that to my CSS too in theme panel.

Hi

The mobile version of your site is the same as the one for desktop, but styled differently, so you can use custom css in theme panel > custom css :

@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-header-main-menu{
background-color: #AF2828!important;
}
}

@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td_block_related_posts{
display: none;
}
}
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-footer-container{
display: none;
}
}
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-sub-footer-container{
display: none;
}
}

Let me know how it goes and provide more details if this is not what you mean.

Thanks!

Hey, what happened with great support guys? 😉

Is it possible that its only me with issues on mobile responsive version?

I am using latest update of Newspaper theme – what can cause that Ajax is not working at all?

Search bar can not be opened, navigation menu too, what ever link I click like in category navigation in blocks does not load new set of news, and so on … it has to be some Ajax not loading issue on mobile … how to check, how to fix?

Thanks!

Additional info: I have turned off lazy load – in theme panel I turned off “Use loading animation image”, if that is it …

Images now started to show on mobile.

But still I can not open search box, nor I can open menu …

And I would really like to keep using lazy load – so please help.

Thanks!

Hi

Please make sure you set your logo in theme panel > headers > logo for mobile and also empty all caches: http://screencast.com/t/wAcF2feCFrhttp://screencast.com/t/bDI2cuMKhv

Let me know how it goes!

Thanks!

Hi

By default the theme hides the top bar, which includes the registration widget, on mobile devices but you can use custom css to display it, so there is no need to pay for a plugin. You can use this custom css in theme panel > custom css section:

@media (max-width: 767px){
.td-header-top-menu {
display: block!important;
}
}
@media (max-width: 767px){
.td-header-sp-top-menu{
left: 15px!important;}
}
@media (max-width: 767px){
.td-header-sp-top-menu .td_data_time{
display: none;
}
}

You can modify the values as you like. The result should be like here: http://screencast.com/t/C3W4NdBXh

Thanks!

Hi,

Sorry for delay! We answer to the most oldest topics so if you add a new reply we get later to your topic.

Please try this custom css for revolution slider on mobile in Theme Panel > Custom Css: http://screencast.com/t/zpqrsBreyt

@media(max-width: 767px) {
.home .wpb_revslider_element .forcefullwidth_wrapper_tp_banner {
margin-top: 0 !important;
}
}

This is how the menu works on touch screen device, you cannot hover the menu items like on desktop, so the link will not work there.

You can customize the font for comments using custom css, as it is not an option in panel – http://screencast.com/t/yUQRW5TU

input[type=text],
input[type=url],
input[type=tel],
input[type=email] {
font-size: 10px;
}
textarea {
font-size: 14px;
}

Thanks!

Hi, we have just installed newest version of Newspaper theme on our development server, for testing purposes, with all demo content – and we noticed that on mobile devices, post images are not loading – other images such banners are loaded.

Also, there are issues with Ajax functionalities – and testing device was iPhone 6. On Android device, first load was ok, everything was loaded fine, but on reload, same thing, no images, Ajax not working, slide menu not working, etc.

Can you please help us out, and try it yourself, this is the URL – http://dev.fokus.ba

Thanks!

Hello,

I have newspaper theme v.62 installed on my website. Browser caching was earlier working fine on my website but suddenly it has stopped working and my google page speed has gone down.

Website URL : http://www.naukrinama.com
Google Page Speed : https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=naukrinama.com

Here is the code written in my .htaccess file.

The problem is that 68% of my visitors are coming in on a mobile phones and most of that traffic is iPhones.

That is about 1 in 3 can login/logout/register easily. It may as well not even exist at that point.

If the theme can’t do it, I am willing to buy a plugin that will. I just want to know it will work before I spend the cash. The refund game is a pain in the ass.

Hi,

I have checked your site again and the menu is still broken on mobilehttp://screencast.com/t/DVQnJ9tev
Try to install a fresh wordpress and a clean unmodified theme on a subdomain(ex – http://clubalmafuerte.com/test/) and see if the issue still appears on this install.

Thanks!

I am not using Chache plugin now.

Newspaper 6 with the same plugins worked well. No issues. I have updated to version 6 and I have problems with this.

Also WordPress does not show mp3 content in the posts. And again it is for Woocommerce but It worked well with Newspaper 4.

I have deactivated all plugins, just Woocommerce and Visual Composer active, and it is the same:

I can´t use mobile menu
I can`t use Post Style 7
I can`t use finder
I can`t see mp3 wordpress links.

In Themeforest pager I can read thar Newspaper 6 is compatible with:

BuddyPress 2.1.x, BuddyPress 2.0.x, BuddyPress 1.9.x, BuddyPress 1.8.x, BuddyPress 1.7.x, BuddyPress 1.6.1, WooCommerce 2.3.x, WooCommerce 2.2.x, WooCommerce 2.1.x, bbPress 2.5.x, bbPress 2.4.x, bbPress 2.3.x

I don`t know if it is also compatible with Woocommerce 2.4 but the web it is not updated.

Thanks for the support 😉

Hi

Try this custom css in theme panel > custom css:

@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-icon-mobile:before, .td-icon-search:before{
color: red;
}
}
@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-header-wrap .td-header-main-menu{
background-color: #ffffff !important;
}
}

You can change the color as you like. The result should be like here: http://screencast.com/t/mOM6crOZ

Thanks!

Hello, first time using this theme, but not first time using visual composer.

When trying to set up 2 columns using visual composer, the block in the second column, automatically gets placed under the first one, not allowing me to properly set up 2 columns side by side.

Also, everything on the page seems to be shifted right and not properly centered as in the example files.

My domain is edmbangers.com , please let me know what I can do to fix this, thank you so much.

Hi

By default the theme doesn’t have an option do disable more articles button on mobile devices, but you can use this custom css to do that:

@media (max-width: 768px){
.td-more-articles-box {
display: none!important;
}
}

I am not sure what you mean at second part of your message, please provide more details.

Thanks!

Hi

I have updated to the latest version of Newspaper and I am having problems viewing it on a mobile device, such as an iPhone.

the site URL is http://connecteddigitalworld.com

I didn’t have this problem prior to the upgrade.

As an aside I also have a similar issue viewing the site using Firefox.

Any suggestions?

Many thanks

Hi,

The mobile menu has a specific background(black). Unfortunately there is no option in panel to change it, but you can use this custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css, just add your color(also for icons if you want): http://screencast.com/t/lMy1un0oBNu

@media (max-width: 767px) {
.td-header-wrap .td-header-menu-wrap-full, .td-header-wrap .td-header-menu-wrap, .td-header-wrap .td-header-main-menu {
background-color: #fff !important;
}
#td-top-mobile-toggle i, .header-search-wrap #td-header-search-button .td-icon-search {
color: #222 !important;
}
}

Hope this helps!

Hi,

1. If “States” is a page you can use Visual Composer to add blocks on your page and filter articles by specific “States” subcategory like it is on the other page – http://screencast.com/t/V4Phfr3F
2. You can hide it via custom css in Theme Panel – http://screencast.com/t/kG3sr3Mn

.td-category-header .td-category-pulldown-filter {
display: none;
}

3. Like Christopher suggested you can use SEO by Yoast plugin to control titles, use seo codes – https://yoast.com/articles/wordpress-seo/#wpseo-plugin-titles
4. Unfortunately the megamenu was not designed for mobile menu, so it will not display the page content there.

Thanks!

Hi

Okay, I followed your instructions to move CSS and used following code:

$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘td-theme’);
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘js_composer_front’);
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘google-fonts-style’);

and I did pagespeed test at:

https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.windowsmechanic.com%2F

Under the Desktop section, I find most of the CSS have moved to footer and “Eliminate render-blocking JavaScript and CSS in above-the-fold content” now kinda Okay. Good Job here and thank you for help.

But under Mobile section of page speed (please check my pagespeed link), I do find same CSS files are blocking. Especially google fonts. But we already have the following codes in the td-speed-booster.php

$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘google_font_open_sans’);
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘google_font_roboto’);
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘td-theme’);
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘js_composer_front’);
$this->move_style_to_footer_queue(‘google-fonts-style’);

Any Idea why the same CSS blocking message appears again under the mobile section of page speed ?

Do we have any other section in td-speed-booster.php where I need to add code to change my pagespeed score (Mobile) higher?

Regards
Siraj

I can’t seem to solve or make progress on my Newspaper Theme performance issues.
I’ve got five friends that want to use Newspaper, too, if only I can get past my performance issues.
(They’re new bloggers, they like the idea of the theme, they’re a bit worried about my inability to fix my performance issues, or to find someone who can.)

My performance sucks (in the 40’s) with no clear remedy in sight.
Worse, when users hit my site the first time, the page loads blank (no images show)
If they reload the home page, then images show the second time, but after a flash of gray.

Here are screen shots:
* Empty Images – http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/509260/1ae034f2ac380576a5dd1d8e49faed92
* On Reload – http://www.awesomescreenshot.com/image/509262/dd0893dd0a1944de6aab6f0a9591e297

I haven’t seen anybody else’s site load like mine, where it’s all framed out with gray placeholders, and then, as if a second flash, the images then show up.

Here’s my setup at a glance:
* I’m hosting on Siteground.
* I use WP Rocket which is tested with Siteground — just default options.
* I’m using a CDN (Cloudflare), with default options.
* I have Gzip working.
* I use WP Smush Pro to smush all images (all images are smushed.)
* I used P3 (Plugin Performance Profiler) to analyze plugin performance.

I contemplated W3 cache (well, In installed it, but it was immediate conflict with WP Rocket, and WP Rocket’s feature compare shows superior in all regards, but I don’t have enough experience yet to know of it’s true.)

I get Chris’s point on the difference between buying a car, and driving the car. Well, now I want to know how to drive like the Mario Andretti. I feel like I’ve got the “owner’s Guide”, but not the “Driver’s Guide”. But actually, I don’t want yet another guide, I want a student driver model where I pay a consultant to show me the ropes for a couple of hours while fixing things, looking over my shoulder, or me looking over theirs.)

My images are probably the main problem, I don’t know how to fix them without doing weird acts of God, and I’m trying to keep posting simple and pragmatic, not build a better mouse trap with weird optimizations and even weirder workflow.

Tips
——————–
I’ve seen these tips:
* Chris S – Additionally, I use the WP-Optimize plugin to regularly optimize my WP dbase. Cutting 800kb out of your dbase once a week, or after a large number of posts/pages, also speeds up your system overhead. https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/what-is-your-googlespeed-value/
* Chris S – If you can hit 90+ on your desktop score and 85+ on mobile, you can live a happy life and not stress over it. https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/what-is-your-googlespeed-value/
* Chris S – – There are numerous resources on the net to learn how to set-up your web server account for gzip, expiration headers, optimize your images prior to uploading to your site, editing your htaccess file for WordPress, limiting use of resource hogging plugins unless absolutely necessary, etc., using W3cache with the minimal settings recommended in this forum from Radu/Marius (( QUOTE: w3 total cache use only the ‘full page cache.’ )) – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/pagespeed/
* Radu – On the demo we are running a stock theme with our stock speed booster plugin! Also note that any additional plugins slow the theme down and lower the score in pagespeed. – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/what-is-your-googlespeed-value/

Tools
————
I’ve used these tools
* Google Page Speed – https://developers.google.com/speed/pagespeed/insights/
* GTMerix – https://gtmetrix.com/analyze.html
* Is compression working? http://www.gidnetwork.com/tools/gzip-test.php
* Pingdom Tools – reality test – http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/#!/bGth8K/sourcesofinsight.com
* Web Page Test – http://www.webpagetest.org/

Google tells me my page speed sucks. Is Compression Working tells me Gzip is working. Pingdom tells me my images are bloated. GTMetrix fails with a 522 timeout and blames my CDN.

The quote that keeps me going is:
“Whatever doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.”

I guess I’m getting stronger day by day.

I have a problem with my Newspaper theme in mobile view.
When I view my site on desktop, it works just fine. However, when I try to view my site on my phone in mobile view, it shows some codes on the homepage which can only be seen in mobile view.

My site: http://www.angliaikisokos.com

Thanks for your help, in advance.
