I can’t seem to figure out why my frontpage has white space between visual composer elements/blocks as shown in the screenshots.
This seems to just happen on my main page of the website. problem does not occur in other pages on the site.
I’ve tried to recreate a new frontpage with new frontpage template.. but problem persists.

This is exactly how I used to update the views, but I really want to get rid of those two ajax plugins to count the views since the theme is able to do it correctly itself. So the theme reads the views from the custom field “post_views_count”, but my older posts have their view counts in the custom field “views”. I now want to use the theme’s counter, so to show the correct views on older posts I want to copy the values from the “views” custom field to the “post_views_count”. How do I do this? I want to use the theme’s counter so I can delete the two other plugins but I don’t want to lose the views on older posts!

I’m trying to put Sulvo Ads in my website, with newsmag 1.6 (need to update to new version) and wordpress 4.2.
So, i put the code that sulvo gave me, and applied them in the site, in the spots i need to put, and the ads are showing, but i have a problem with impressions counting.
For some unknown reason i have few impressions, like 100 per ad spot / per day, but i have a high traffic in my website.
I tried other wordpress plugins, put the code manually, inserting directly the code in the theme, i see the ads but the daily report in sulvo shows a lower number of impressions when comparing with the traffic i have per day (more than 25000 pageviews).
The code sulvo gave me, is html/js (more js than html).
What could be the reason for this?

I already updated the theme, but the size of the ads continues responsive instead 336x280px for the posts (article top). So, I´m sending to your email my login and password to you see the problem of your theme.
Your answer for the 10. is incomplete, please click again in the urls and see my problem. You told me to “change the height size” but didnt especificate what size in what block, I tried to change the 300x160px block, I tried to change the another block too, I edited the media settings unchecking the box and didnt work. So, whats the SOLUTION and what is the best wide, tall and rate to the images of this theme?

Recently installed Newsmag on my blog. Like the theme but have been running into a few problems.
-I would like to have the logo display at a larger size
-although the ads that I uploaded are all the same size, they do not display at the same size on site, some have padding and others do not, have can I get them to all display at the same size, particularly width
-I would like ads to open in new window, I am using built in ad system with custom ads, not Google Adsense

First off, thanks so much Chris for putting all of this together – koodos to you and supporters alike for building up a community… and despite numerous attempts of asking people to stop asking questions in this sticky, some people simply cannot listen and let temptations lead to questions for the “drift” king himself.
Just to empathize with you, I spent about 3 days going over tons and tons of material pertaining to page speed, caching, functions.php, .htaccess, whatever I end up stumbling upon in hopes of getting that elusive high score .. Frankly, I wanted to blow my brains out (jokingly, not seriously I assure you).
I cannot fathom putting in the amount of work that you have for this sticky alone, and also in other threads. The pattern is clear, people will always turn to someone like you for the spoon fed answer they want. It’s mighty clear the way you’ve put it – I think you said somewhere in this forum that managing the website is purely the responsibility of the website owner, not tagDiv, not the community, it’s the owner’s responsibility. And I loved the buy a race car analogy.

I did have something to contribute.. I found a resourceful YouTube vid about W3TC. Which I have started using.. Seems like a path many themers end up with.. It’s not spam, I assure you, the guy in the vid Craig Chamberlin gives an hour long tutorial about cache settings using W3TC. A for beginners, believe me when I say an hour of watching this guy is waaaaaaaayy better than trying to figure this sh#t out on your own in the wee hours of night.

We here have NEVER had good luck with the envato plugin; it seems to work for others; and for us, we just choose to do the FTP method since we can make backups of important files at same time.
The current version is the one you can download from your themeforest “downloads” account page.
Actually … that is separate function for a different kind of content sharing.
Here is example of what I’m talking about …

If I do that on CaliforniaNewswire.com with a story, running Newsmag 1.6, it no longer does that; although it did it a week ago prior to the switch to Newsmag from our old Woo custom template.
This leads me to believe all things being equal that there is some element of the rendered page structure which causes Google’s scraper to not pull the full text in quite the same way.

I did try removing the “categories” from above headline/title on CaliforniaNewswire.com and this had no effect. I am going to try some other things like “simple sidebar” and removing related content, social media buttons, etc., to see if it’s “relational” content confusing it (e.g., meta data or mark-up related to the other images/titles on page), or what. Super annoying.
It may be that having the bulk of other headlines/titles/images inside the “woo sidebar” separates the onpage content enough to make the Google scraper less confused.
They really should be pulling the damn meta/og description tag, and no good reason for them to still be “scraping” the page.
Could be something as simple as they don’t like the “full width headline” which is in separate “block” from the body text; meaning not in the same “column” …. (sigh)
I’m playing with it, as time permits.
Upshot — the Woo Canvas template we’ve had for several years DOES WORK for G+ capture, while the Newsmag layout I’ve setup does NOT … so, I’m always frustrated by these micro-management issues with Google …
And don’t get me started on the right format for sitelinks for CSE hinting. Lack of documentation on that is ridiculous from them. 🙂

We’ve tested the theme from this point of view so it should work fine we haven’t had any reports also.
If you can provide more details about the server issues you experience we would happily look into it and provide a better answer. This could also happen due to your host configuration.
Regarding ads, the theme’s ad system renders just adsense, js/image or flash banners and short-codes so using other types of ads could not work: https://forum.tagdiv.com/ads-system-full-guide/
Other ads codes can be rendered by the wp text widget which you can also sue to place your ads to the page.

I suggest you go over your code and get someone to help you with this if you don’t have html/js/php knowledge. You can also hire a freelancer from site’s like http://studio.envato.com/ or address this to your ad providers.

That is funny, because when I uploaded the image I have checked that is Family Safe (it says that photos who are not family safe and are not properly labeled will be delited. And anyway they run those ads. 🙂

2. There’s a problem with your ads manager, for the ads in articles, you can access this url:

I used the “article top ad” with a 336x280px ads, and is appearing a horizontal ads. And in “article bottom ads” I used a responsive ads.
In the homepage I used:
– a 728x90px in custom_ad_1 after the header block named “em destaque” and a responsive ads in custom_ad_2 after the block named “preparacao”.
As you can see doesnt matter the size of the ads blocks, your theme have own sizes in specific locations. I dont know why this is happening, I tried to desactive all plugins (except visual composer) I verified another site with the same theme, and it is working fine (like hxxp://sensacionalista.com.br).
9. How can I create “sliding sidebar blocks” like in the demo of newsmag? Note that I want to use this functionality with the sidebar blocks created in visual composer, not with the widgets.
10. About the size of the cover images for the articles. I tried to use the plugin Regenerate Thumbnails, but without sucess with your theme.
What I can do to adjust a better view to the images in each type of visualization that you theme offer? For example, for the same posts your theme use diferent sizes for the homepage and for the page of the categories.

For some reason the ads that show up on desktop are not appearing on mobile version. These same ads work fine on another site of mine using the same theme on mobile. Also I’ve made sure that ads are not disabled on mobile in theme panel.

My problem is not with your theme, wich is amazing and I’m proud of using it, but with the ads.
I’ve tried a lot of solutions and your help is my last hope.
I work with a company for a few months with another website, wich is not wordpress builted and the ads works perfectly well. But we are having problems with the ads on the site that I’ve created with your theme. According to them, the ads are shown on the site but they are rejected by the advertisers. Our opinion is that, somehow, the codes the company gave to me are not identifing correctly the site. There is also the bots question, but we have 3 different protections against bots: a wordpress plugin, clouflare and a robots.txt.

4. I´m facing problems with the adsense implementation in the middle of homepage.
I did many tests, I created 728×90 ads block and a responsive block, the 728×90 I put in the custom_ads1, after the posts of the category “notícias” as you can see in my homepage, and after the category “preparação” (above the latest articles) I put a responsive ads.
For both, the size appears responsive. And by this way I can conclude that isn’t a problem with the adsense code. So why it appeared responsive? I want to use 728×90 ads like appears in the newspaper theme.

1. You didn’t explained how to change the categories with this shortcode in your last answer, how can I do it? I believe is because of that when I click in the url of the category appears to me another layout in the header (5 images in the header not 3), I have to corret this problem too.
2. I´m having problems with the pagination of the homepage, for example when I click to go to the page 2 or 3 appears to me a 404 error.
3. When I build a new post, and select a featured image for the cover of that post, the image appears large in the top of the post, how can I disable this last functionality?
4. How can I put responsive blocks of adsense in the home page (as in the newspaper theme), I want to use the adsense in the header, and more 2 blocks between the content of the homepage.

Hello there, I am trying to put adsense code into various boxes via theme panel/ADS, but when I paste the code and press Save settings, I get only eternal loading and nothing is happening. This actually happen with some other changes I want to make in Theme panel. Some work, some don’t at all. Could you please give me advice what to do?

This theme has some great templates, sans one where we can have medium like ‘one column’ posts with no side-bars and max-width of content 641px. I suggest devels should create a template so we can have a layout similar to this one:

Also is it possible to simply use Template 7/8 with no-sidebars chosen from settings. All I need to know is how to set content width to 641px and make it center aligned. I tried to play with margin-left and stuff but it breaks layout on iPads and other smaller screens.

2. Unfortunately theme doesn’t have an option for post title in backend and I don’t think that will have. You can use another post template for posts that you want title. So if you comment title code in default post template you can use style 1 for post where you want title.

adblock is widely used because of annoying ads that we see at other places. But it should not block self hosted simple image.
This morning we noticed our newspaper themed wordpress site is really slow (like 15+ seconden to even see the frontpage)
We changed nothing and it was working just fine. I asked our server guys to check the server but every other site hosted is fast as usual also no DB problems or delays.
Also when I switched themes to Twenty Fifteen it loads really fast again.

disable all plugins: no difference
switch theme: fast again
looked at other newspaper wordpress sites (not mine): a bit slow but I have no reference (never looked at them before)
Looking in Chrome using web developertools, and got these results:

Proxy negotiaton: 0.074ms
Request send: 0.074ms
Wating (TTFB) 16.71s (!!)
content download: 16.600ms
total: 16.73s (!!)
