I can see that the “flex block 3” uses two different ratios by default:
218×150 (1.45 ratio)
485×360 (1.347 ratio)
The standard article post use (696×0) so this means it will be stretched/shrunk to 696 and original picture ratio maintained.
The posts loop also says (696×0) but that is not true when you look at the final result. On the screen is is 2×1 (2 ratio) so they are stretched/cut differently to fit the box here.
So all this seems very chaotic to me. I am not sure how to setup the different modules. It looks to be like a 16:9 ratio will work quite well overall since it is somewhere in the middle for for all the module defaults.
Any other input on how to manage the picture gallery and settings for the different pages would be great! I would like to be as close to the optimum for each used picture of course.
I am using “single post date” and also “posts loop”. Both of these display the date for the article publishes. I also want to display the exact time using the HH:MM format.
I wonder if there is a recommend image ratio for the articles.
Is it 16:9 or similar? I notice that some pictures get compressed to a width of 696x?. Would 696×392 be good format for the uploaded pictures?
I understand there are post templates that can be configured to use the pictures almost full page. This is sort of dynamic so I am just wondering how to deal with the whole issue.
Maybe I should upload 1200×675 by default or similar?
Any hints on how to manage this would be greatly appreciated.
I can see that the pictures as show in “flex block 3” and “posts loop” come out a bit different if I don’t adhere to some standard formatting. “flex block 4” seems to be able to use more height and cuts the picture less.
I used to have the pagination with “posts loop” option. I could click on next and so on between the pages. I have since removed this since I do not want to have this setup anymore. Now it appears that all these /page/*/ exist and I cannot remove them. I would prefer to hit the 404 page in case someone goes there.
I set the post limit to 6. In the tagdiv editor I can see the change, but when I go directly to tag URL, still I can see only 1 posts and I need to click “Load more”.

Strange thing is that, after I saved the settings, close the tagdive editor and comeback to the editor I can see that my previous settings are saved but In editor view I can see only 1 posts in Post loop

I made that, but I have one Posts loop with only one post limit as the header block and posts loop second block as the posts list. The problem is that second list showing only 1 post but should show more

I’m trying to exclude a category from the first post loop on a website. In other blocks there are fields where you can enter a category id and no posts from this category will show here, but not “Post Loop”. In posts loop you can only exclude singular posts with their ids.
Is there a way to achieve this?

So, I made a test: when installing the standard pack and using the default single post template, regenerating all the thumbnails after setting the medium-large wordpress thumbnail to 696x464px
This size is used here in the single-loop.php: get_the_post_thumbnail_url(null, 'medium_large'))
If I use the medium-large size for the images in the post the pictures in the post haven’t any CLS and they have a placeholder in the browser. Just the featured image has still a layout shift and no placeholder. For the featured image I couldn’t find any code that catches the size like for the other pictures.
When I use the cloud template for my single posts every image (featured image and in-post-images) shift around and have no placeholder in the browser. It seems that for the pictures used in cloud templates there is no where a get_the_post_thumbnail_url(null, 'medium_large') defined.
Can you please help me to find a solution for that problem?

Hi,
we are new to the Newspaper theme and have an issue with cloud templates. We downloaded an example template, duplicated it and assigned it to 3 different categories.
After setting up the cloud-template we go to the category page (frontend) in the browser and click “edit with tagdivComposer”.
The problem:
While we can edit for example Headlines for that category without problems the issue is that settings we make that way regarding category-filters in for example “Block 3” (kind of post loop) are synchronised in every category using that cloud-template. We want to use the same “Layout” on all 3 category pages but of course we need to set different settings on modules. We could duplicate the cloud-template a few times and only change the filter settings in the “loop-modules” but that doesn’t feel right. In case we want to rearrange positions of modules we would have to so it multiple times.
Hope you can clarify how to do this in a clean way.

Just in case I was not clear:
Let’s say we have the categories “city” and “lifestyle” – to both assigned the same cloud-template.
In the cloud-template we have included the “Block 3” module. When going to the “city” category page (frontend but logged in) and edit the Block 3 module via “edit with tagDiVComposer” and set the filter like “display 8 posts having category city or cars”, after saving we have the same results in the Block 3 module when visiting the lifestyle category page in the frontend, while headlines we edit exactly that way stay different. Both category pages need the Block 3 module (just an example) but different filters applied to.

At the moment in Newspaper Theme you cannot use 2 post loops on the same template. You can achieve something similar using 2 blocks instead of the posts loop.

I’m using the Newspaper theme version 10.3.9.1 and trying to insert ads on search results pages.
I’ve tried both Posts loop & Posts loop 2 without success as follows:
I set up a first Posts loop (or Posts loop 2) block and set Limit post number 4, sort order Latest and No pagination.
Then I would insert an ad block.
I set up a second Posts loop (or Posts loop 2) block and set Limit post number 4, Offset posts 4, sort order Latest and No pagination.
This looks fine in TD Composer and I save the changes – see https://imgur.com/Kxw4IA8
However, when I view the page, the Offset posts on the second block is ignored and the first Post loop block is repeated – see https://imgur.com/5ZMrjKF
I’ve deactivated all non-TAGDIV plugins – the problem persists.
Any thought on how to correct this?
(I use this method of inserting ads in several places; all work fine. It’s only the Post loop blocks giving problems.)

The page loading speed for both mobile and desktop depends on many factors and you can’t compare an empty theme like Twenty Twenty with a fully functional, features loaded theme like Newspaper that helps you create a website in a few hours.
We are building a long term collaboration with our customers. You can see on our demos what page loading speed score can a website loaded with content can have. However, page loading speed can depend on many factors, and each website is unique from this point of view.
Let me explain some of these factors and maybe they give you some starting points for optimizing your website.
External factors: server speed, if you are using CDN or not, the external resources loaded by your website like ads, fonts, tracking scripts like Facebook Pixel, Google Analytics, Twitter analytics, Hotjar and so on.
