Hi,
The theme automatically generates the thumbnail sizes needed, from the featured image for each module – https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
This process is done by default, it is not necessary to regenerate the thumbnails after each added featured image. Unless you make changes to the thumb settings
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/ then it is necessary.
Thanks
Thanks for the info here, I’ll pass that sizing along.
Regarding regenerating thumbnails – I read the tutorial and went through the process of installing that plugin and regenerating my images. However, I notice that when I add a new image, I still have to manually go in and regenerate that thumbnail for it to fill the blocks correctly on my landing pages? Is there not an option to regenerate thumbs automatically when a new image is added to the site?
Hello kalapapla,
I suggest you disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear the cache if you have one installed, then use this guide to regenerate your thumbnails
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
The theme creates the thumb sizes used on the blocks from the featured image you set for the post, maybe something is interfering with this process, try the regeneration tool and it should recreate the thumbs needed.
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello gunngx,
1)If you want to reduce that white gap, you should use a bit of CSS code to do that. Try the code below and place it in Theme panel -> Custom CSS area.
The code is ->
.td-main-page-wrap {
padding-top: 15px;
}
The result is here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/O6g81zm0U
2)You should regenerate your thumbnails using the Force Regenerate Plugin and Regenerate Thumbnails. For more information about this problem, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello,
The best image to use is a full hd image of 1920 x 1080 as the theme creates thumbnails for each case in particular and the full size will not be used on the site except when accessing the image itself.
There is no best or worst aspect ratio as the theme creates thumbs if the image is large enough as there is a cropping system that will get the size it needs for the thumb from your image. The main issue is the size. In order to prevent the spaces for the images, you need to have a featured image larger than the container in the grid. The theme crops images but it does not enlarge them. If your images are bigger than the container, you probably did not regenerate the thumbnails. You can use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Thank you!
I have all the thumbnail proportions active in the theme settings and have regenerated all thumbnails as suggested but I am still a bit confused about why certain block/column configuration are producing unexpected results. (Thumbnail does not fill column) In the current row I have a 1/4+1/2+1/4 column arrangement—are only certain Block templates compatible?
Hello Elisa,
I have inspected your website and I saw that your featured image are not correctly displayed at the front end. Make sure that you have correctly added your images from post editor and also, ensure that you have added the big size of your image. After this, you should use the Regenerate Thumbnails and Force Regenerate to regenerate your thumbnails and then check the results. Try to check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thanks for your understanding!
Thanks.
All of the block settings are and were enabled. I also cleared cache, regenerated thumbs, still an issue.
My site is private due to being a work effort.
Can you please email me and i’ll set you up with a login?
Hi,
There is no need to use a hack to display the images properly. The theme automatically creates the necessary thumbnails needed for the blocks or big grids, from the featured image you set on the post
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
You can use this guide to regenerate the thumbnails if they are not displaying properly
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
After the regeneration process is complete, please clear any caching installed.
Also as it is usually the case for most image problems, some plugin you have installed could be interfering with the theme, causing this issue. You could try to disable them all except the ones bundled with the theme, clear the cache if you have one installed, and check to see if the problem is still there.
If you try these suggestions and the result is not favorable, please provide a link to your website, so we can inspect it.
Thanks
I am working on this page: https://reachinghigher.wpengine.com/index.php/about-us/
There are four images on left side that were sized to 270 x 200 and added to the column with “thumbnail” selected as the image size.
For some reason, 3 of the 4 images are resized to 195 x 195 on this page. And the Education Innovation image is not and appears cropped. I have reloaded the images, checked the sizing, and I can’t figure out why this one image is not showing up at the same size as the other 3. I have even gone through and “regenerated thumbnails” again. Still doesn’t show the 4 images the same size.
Ideas?
Hi,
The issue is fixed now. GD library was not enabled on the server. After enabling it, I regenerated the thumbnails by the plugin suggested in the forum and it solved my issue.
Thanks

Hello,
1) Yes, tabs are very complex elements and they should not be used with other complex elements as they will not work properly. This is a known issue and unfortunately is hard to overcome as the tabs are not theme specific elements but rather visual composer elements.
2) You will have to regenerate your thumbnails using the force regenerate plugin is the video thumbnail is big enough to display in that grid. There is a chance the video thumb simply is not big enough to fit. Our theme will only crop images to fit the grids, The theme will not enlarge images.
Thank you!
Hi,
I believe you will have to regenerate the thumbnails as the Newspaper theme is using different thumb sizes for the modules to start with. The articles should be fine since you will be installing Visual composer for the new theme. The themes share the same core but they are not identical, please notice that it could be possible to appear some differences regarding on style and you should adjust some of them, or even redo them.
Before doing this switch it would be best to make a full backup to your website to avoid possible problems.
Here is a brief comparison between the themes

Hi,
I’m using Newspaper theme on healthprash.com. I always update the theme with the latest release. From last couple of days, whenever I’m posting new post, the thumbnail size on blocks are not rendering properly. You can view the empty space in the background on homepage easily. I haven’t made any changes to thumbnail settings yet. I have even tried to regenerate thumbnails using regenerate thumbnail plugin recommended on somewhere on your forum but it didn’t solve the issue. Please let me know how to fix the issue.
Hello srampia,
Try to regenerate your thumbnails using the Force Regenerate plugin, clear all your caches and check the results. After this, if your problem is still there, please provide your website URL so I can take a closer look. Notice that if you are using some untested plugins, try to disable all of these and check the results.
Thanks for the message!
Hello,
Sorry but we have not tested the ultimate addons plugin from VC. The images could simply need regeneration. You can use the force regenerate plugin to regenerate image thumbnails.
But i cannot say for sure since the plugin is not tested and your site cannot be inspected as you have a coming soon plugin in place.
Thanks.
Hi,
I have inspected your website and I see that there are some problems with the thumbnails displayed on the Big grid and blocks used on the page. I suggest you disable all your plugins except Visual composer, clear the cache if you have one installed, then use this guide to regenerate your thumbnails

Hi,
You could modify an existing module using a child theme or make your modifications directly to the main file. The thumbnail sizes are defined in the theme here – https://www.screencast.com/t/jpQvJEG5 you could modify the one you want there, and then be sure to regenerate your thumbnails using this tool for example
– https://wordpress.org/plugins/regenerate-thumbnails/
If you would like to add a new module or block, here is more information if you choose to do it

Hi Guys,
We’ve adding Newspaper to an existing site with posts going back 10 years, it’s going well but the thumbs on the modules don’t look create.
Is there a way to regenerate all old thumbs to suit each module?
Hi,
In case that your thumbnails are not properly generated, please make sure GD Library is installed and enabled on your server – http://php.net/manual/en/book.image.php
If you use CDN please disable it and also the other plugins except Visual Composer and regenerate your thumbs again.
Also provide a link to your site so we can take a look.
Thanks!
Hi,
To have a Full Big Grid you must go to the row settings and set it like this
– https://www.screencast.com/t/mfEWrD0D
The result should be like this – https://www.screencast.com/t/hmoS2hyXWltj
Also make sure you have the required thumbs activated in theme panel, and regenerate the thumbnails if needed
– https://www.screencast.com/t/yT9A92R3
Thanks
Hi,
There are no options to remove the margins between the modules in the Big Grid, this could only be achieved through modifying the theme files, or by custom code. The images on the Blocks and Big Grids should display properly if the posts have a featured image set, and the thumbnails needed are activated
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
Please make sure you activate these in Theme panel, and then regenerate your thumbnails if needed using the guide provided below. Also take note of the requirements for the server.

Thanks
Hi,
Please provide more details, is this occurring only for the Slider element or also on other elements on the page. You could try to regenerate the thumbnails needed for the theme, using this guide
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-fix-strange-looking-images-on-blocks/
And also take note of the requirements for the server. After the regeneration process is complete, please clear any caching installed and check to see if the problem is resolved.
Thanks
