Hi,

That button is created according to the official Facebook documentation
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/plugins/like-button
It will count likes received on the post page, and it should also take into account likes received when sharing the post on Facebook. That would be the purpose of this button.

Thanks

forget to copy the sample:

https://www.1000wordsmagazine.com/author/lola/

So – I would like to put the like buttons under the author-box.

I copied this from the page source code:

<div class=”td-post-sharing-bottom”><div class=”td-post-sharing-classic”><iframe frameborder=”0″ src=”https://www.facebook.com/plugins/like.php?href=https://www.1000wordsmagazine.com/author/lola/&layout=button_count&show_faces=false&width=105&action=like&colorscheme=light&height=21&#8243; style=”border:none; overflow:hidden; width:105px; height:21px; background-color:transparent;”></iframe></div></div>

The files where I found the mentioned div class:

Newspaper/includes/modules/td_module_single.php
Newspaper/includes/modules/td_module_single_mob.php
Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_module_single_base.php

But there area soo confusing code lines – where and what to check….

Thank you, Zoltan

Hi,

Facebook will use the post featured image when sharing a post, given you have installed the Yoast SEO plugin
https://forum.tagdiv.com/facebook-share/
This would be the recommended plugin to use for SEO purposes. Only through it you can control and customize the post sharing. The theme does not have any settings in the matter. The plugin has options to set an image for each post if needed
https://yoast.com/social-media-optimization-with-yoast-seo/
https://kb.yoast.com/kb/why-doesnt-facebook-display-an-image/
Note the Facebook general requirements for images as well
https://developers.facebook.com/docs/sharing/best-practices/#images

Hi Bogdan,

Its was my fault..
I moved the site from non-www to www.

–about sahring:

Is it possible to make the sharing tools “open” – not closed – so see in full when page visited?

Counter have any of the styles? — how many times shared that post?

Thx, Zoltan

Hi,

I’ve got the request from the magazine authors, and the page owner – to make available more picture thumb sizes.

That is because when someone shares the posts, it shows the wrongly cropped/cutted/chopped off picture or not the proper one.

Share on fb — “head cut off” –
https://www.1000wordsmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/wrong-cutting.jpg
Same on Google Plus —
https://www.1000wordsmagazine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/wrong-cropping-share-gplus.jpg
Pinterest would acceptable, however can be better if used the proper sizes, which is 800×1600

So, I would ask: how to make it available create more sizes for all media – of course after need the thumbs-regeneration.

600×600
600×315
960×960
800×1600

and – tell to wordpress to give the right picture to the sharing-engine no matter which installed and used ( tagdiv, shareaholic, addthis, socioboards, oneall, custom made, etc, etc )

I tried to saerch after read this post: https://premium.wpmudev.org/blog/adding-custom-images-sizes-wordpress/

But, no luck.

Thanks, Zoltan

You could try the solutions from these topics if the icons are replaced with strange characters
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/strange-chinese-symbols-replaced-icons-and-arrows/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/font-blocked-from-loading-by-cross-origin-resource-sharing-policy-no-access-co/
These worked for most users, it is an issue with the server configuration and the required font used for the icons cannot be loaded properly.

Hello,

Please clear your cache as the same method of implementation is required for other sharing options. The same guide as here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-add-a-vk-sharing-button-on-your-posts/ or https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/add-linkedin-sharing-button/

Thank you!

Hi,

I have inspected the website, the scroll to top button and post sharing icons are appearing from what I can see
https://www.screencast.com/t/tRB3dchexsr
https://www.screencast.com/t/L2nX8XJmT
There are also social icons that can be displayed in the top bar and footer, if the top bar and footer are enabled. The socials displayed will be the ones you enter accounts for in the Theme panel->Social networks.

Thanks

The bottom sharing buttons when enabled, also behave in the same way

The top social sharing buttons are hidden in Firefox by default and you must click a “+” symbol for them to appear.
Once you click the “+” symbol, the sharing icons appear and then you also have a “-” icon…clicking the “-” icon causes the just minus icon to disappear but not re-hide the icons themselves that were just revealed by clicking the + icon.

I do not want the icon to be able to be hidden in any capacity, I want them “open” and visbile without the ability to hide them.

This behavior does not happen in Chrome only in Firefox (tested on three machines.)

In Mobile Chrome & Safari the issue persists but has a different behavior
The facebook icon appears along with a + symbol. Clicking the + symbol then shows all the icons
and then clicking the – symbol makes only the – symbol dissapear but does not hide the icons.

I have tried changing the icon style to every setting in the theme panel yet the behavior continues.

I have no caching plugin enabled.

This behavior started after upgrade to 8.6

Newspaper 8.6
Wordpress 4.9.4
Local News template

On my website blogcreatie.nl the icons for social sharing at the buttom and top of the posts are not visible. What’s the problem?

Doesn’t seem to matter what icon I select, but I get the same result — see screenshot. This happens above the post and below the post.

Thank you for the quick replay.

That’s odd, because I don’t see the same thing on my desktop:

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1huxSYQMzgZKjNs0n21i8B4pPbvI4GF8J/view?usp=sharing

Although if I use a different connection (data connection on mobile) it seems fine. Could that be a network issue then?

Hi

@cklein404
I have inspected the website, the social sharing icons seem to display properly at the moment
https://www.screencast.com/t/Fzs2KLEju
That is how the sharing displayed in older versions, only in version 8.6 they have been redesigned and also more were added.

Thanks

Hi,

The thumbnails that the theme creates are cropped center top, that is considered the best overall method in the matter
https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-image/
The resulting thumbnails are also affected by image aspect ratio
https://forum.tagdiv.com/thumbnails-vs-featured-image-size/
So the same image can produce different results depending on the module used to display it. You could use other modules/blocks which features a taller thumbnail, check the results with that.

That social sharing element displayed in the middle of the page is not a theme element. I believe it is a sharing plugin. I see it also appears on posts. Maybe it has settings to stop it from appearing on pages, you could check that.

Thanks

Hi,

The post social sharing can be disabled if you want. This can be done in the theme panel (both top and bottom sharing)

Hi,

From what I can see the font is not loading on your website, there is an error
https://www.screencast.com/t/JdvpyDnQWal
So the text font defaults to browser font. In similar cases the solutions provided in these topics worked
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/strange-chinese-symbols-replaced-icons-and-arrows/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/font-blocked-from-loading-by-cross-origin-resource-sharing-policy-no-access-co/

Also a thing to note is that fonts may look different based on device and operating system
https://www.smashingmagazine.com/2012/04/a-closer-look-at-font-rendering/
https://webmasters.stackexchange.com/questions/9972/how-can-i-make-fonts-render-the-same-way-across-different-web-browsers
Browsers have different methods of rendering fonts. You could try to find common fonts which will look similar on all browsers.

Thanks

Hi, im using NewsMag v 4.0. How to remove g+ and pinterest buttons from share buttons in post?

Simion C.
tagDiv Staff

Hi,

We did not receive any other similar reports from theme users after the latest update. The last update was not major, the post sharing socials received some modifications and there were some various fixes made. So there would be no reason to cause the issues you are mentioning.

Try again to deactivate all plugins, leave only theme plugins active. Remove custom codes or theme modifications. Switch to the main theme if you use a child theme. Make sure there are sufficient resources as mentioned in the guide. Clear all caching and purge CDN cache as well. Monitor and see if there is any change. Hopefully you can identify what exactly is causing the problem.

Thanks

Thanks, Simion, I just wanted to report that by activating the Multi-purpose plugin the views count on the mobile theme stopped working but on the normal theme not! And there is a bug with the sharing-styles!
