Hey guys,

Is there a way to have the smart/sticky sidebar enabled on certain posts?

I want to have it disabled by default but enabled for just a series of posts.

Is this something you’ve been stumbled upon in the past and can help me out with some directions?

Thanks!

PS: you could be as techy as possible, don’t mind getting dirty with code, but need to know if there’s an easier way of doing it, without dealing with code.

Thank you for your screenshots. I managed to add sidebar but my site looks like this now:

https://postimg.cc/gwR783xB

So the content block goes to bottom when I add items to the sidebar.

And why does not the “Smart sidebar” work on the front page?

I am using TD composer, and I don’t quite understand where should I see the “Widget Sidebar” element to add my sidebar, nor it is not clear from the tutorial you linked, how do I “create a sidebar by splitting a row in a 2/3 + 1/3 column layout and adding content directly into the column”.

Hi,

So you enabled the smart sidebar setting and the sidebars are not sticky? I could take a look, provide a link to your website.

Once enabled the sidebar will be sticky on all post pages, category pages etc. In pages created with the tagDiv composer you will have to use the dedicated “Sticky” column setting as mentioned in the guide
https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/

Thanks

Hello,

I have enabled the Smart sidebar, and also the same sidebar for page, post and category, but I just cannot see it anywhere. I followed your video tutorial on smart sidebar and also your tutorial titled “Sidebars tutorial”. What could be the problem?

Hello Paul,

Before starting to create your project, please read our documentation regarding on TD Composer as page builder and what exactly you can do with it. The sidebar seems to works as expected at your homepage. For more details about Sidebar functionality, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-smart-sidebar/ Also, regarding on row layout of your width, you should know that all of these can be set up from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/HT8wptFdxf9K
Also, if you want to make a new homepage from scratch you should import the demo you like without dummy content and then, all of your created content will be loaded into your database.
If is not what you mean, provide more details so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.

Thanks for your understanding!

Thanks so much Prajwal! I’m not using smart lists for ads on this site, just the sidebar, inline, top and bottom ad options in the theme panel ads section. I just double-checked, and all the smart list options are disabled. Unless there is somewhere else I have to make sure they are turned off? Thanks very much for your help!

We placed a message in the theme panel smart sidebar setting
https://www.screencast.com/t/JtdI70ZGRy
Best not to place Google ads in smart sidebars, it may cause problems. Other ads should have no problem.

Yea they have just started to show as of today, must take a bit of time on google ends. Thanks for the header ad info, I will fix it. I also read that google ads doesnt like placing ad in smart sidebars so is it best to tunr that off to get ads to show in sidebar?

Hello High Surfer,

Notice that our theme has a Smart Sidebar functionality and if you will set up correctly you can achieve a sticky element, as you wish. Please check the guide for this functionality from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello Raveess,

Check the Smart Sidebar configuration from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/

Thanks for the message!

Hi,

The smart sidebar can be disabled fully from the theme panel
https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/
Once disabled it would be impossible that the sidebars are still sticky. If you have caching, clear it. Also clear the browser cache or force refresh a page (Ctrl+Shift+R), or test with a new browser.

If possible, post a link to the website so I can take a look. No need to provide the activation key in the forum. I will remove it.

Thanks

Hi catalin, i am using auto ads throughout my site and i don’t think i am using double click ads. On header, sidebar,top,mid,bottom of the post are the ad codes placed.

I did some research and found that on the posts where i used “smart lists” the ads don’t appear in top, mid and bottom of post. If i don’t use smart list, the ads appear fine.

Example :-

Post with smartlist – https://prajwaldesai.com/sccm-technical-preview-1807-installation-and-features/

Post without smartlist – https://prajwaldesai.com/deploy-pulse-secure-desktop-client-using-sccm/

Hello jesusito,

Unfortunately, that plugin has not been tested with the theme and therefore, we cannot say for sure if it will work or not as expected with the theme, sorry! If you want to use the sticky sidebars, notice that the theme has an option for it, named Smart Sidebar. Check the functionality here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello,

Woocoommerce cart widget doesn’t display in Smart Sidebar.

Did anyone encounter the same problem?

The cart widget displays perfectly when TagDiv composer is disabled.

On some of my posts, the social media share icons get cut off, on both PC and mobile.

I find it very strange. If there is only 2 icons, then it is fine. However, once I have 3 or more, every icon after the first two looks like it is cut in half.

I imagine it has something to do with the td_block shortcode I am inserting into the page, because it is after I do this that the problem appears.

It is after I insert this into my post that the social icon problem appears:
[vc_row][vc_column][td_block_7 category_id="88" m6f_meta_font_size="0" limit="12" m6f_title_font_size="18"][/vc_column][/vc_row]

For an example, see here:
http://www.zhongmeigames.com/2018/08/05/01/

Thanks for the great theme.

P.S. As a bonus question, I’m curious if there is a way to put the social share icons in the smart sidebar, as many popular websites tend to do. I have tried to find the right block in the widgets menu, but haven’t found anything quite like that yet.

Hi,

I spent long time looking for the source of the issue, and i don’t think that it’s coming from the content.

I explain my point :

  • Everytime the issue occurs, the second element of the list renders correctly (the sidebar well positionned).
  • I tried the other smart list styles : the issue is occuring with the styles 6,7 and 8.
    The other styles generate other pagination and styling issues. (EXMP. I have 7 list elements and only two of them are available in the pagination). But this is not our subject.

If you give me your email, I can send you an author account so you can see the issues with your own means.

It doesn’t seem to work for me.

I am trying to load custom ad 2 starting from the second page. Here is the code I am tried using…

if ($current_page > 1) {
$buffy .= td_global_blocks::get_instance(‘td_block_ad_box’)->render(array(‘spot_id’ => ‘custom_ad_2’));
}

Here is my smart list 6 page code…

<?php

class td_smart_list_6 extends td_smart_list {

protected $use_pagination = true; // set this to true to use rela pagination on this template

protected function render_before_list_wrap() {
if(td_global::$cur_single_template_sidebar_pos == ‘no_sidebar’) {
$td_class_nr_of_columns = ‘ td-3-columns ‘;
} else {
$td_class_nr_of_columns = ‘ td-2-columns ‘;
}

$buffy = ”;

//wrapper with id for smart list wrapper type 2
$buffy .= ‘<div class=”td_smart_list_6’ . $td_class_nr_of_columns . ‘”>’;

Hi,

From what I can see the sidebar container is for some reason part of the main content container, when they are supposed to be different containers. The HTML is damaged.

Does this happen only in smart list posts and only in the first page? What happens if you select a different smart list style?
Are you entering any HTML code anywhere in the smart list content?

Can you test within a test post if the same happens if you use different images and descriptions? Also try and test with all plugins deactivated, leave only theme plugins active.

I checked some posts, but I saw no ads in any of them. Where would they appear?

Hi,

I badly need your help !!!

I’m facing an issue with the smart list and the sidebar behaviour.
Here’s the link to see what is happening : issue

It’s weird.
On the first page of the smart list the issue is that the sidebar goes below the content.
First Page
On the second page everything seems normal.
Good display
On the third one the issue appears again.
First Page

Please help me investigating why the sidebar behaves that way.

Another related issue :
I’d be pleased if you can have a look at some posts of the same website, and help me to know why on the sidebar inside the posts, the ads appear and disappear randomly.
In some random cases the ads are displayed and in some other cases they aren’t.

Please help !!

Gratefuly
