Hello,

Yes, it’s okay! Ensure that you have enabled the Smart Sidebar functionality from Theme panel. Also, if you are using some untested plugins, you should remove all of them because these might interact with the theme core files and causes a lot of unknown issues. Also, if the problem is still there, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so we can further investigate it closer your setup page.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi twinpickle,

I’ve check your website and your smart sidebar is deactivate.

Thank you.

Yes, this is the area where it was switched off as default. I never turned it on, yet I still have the Smart Sidebar on my site. It is twinpickle.com if you would like to check. I have cached but if it was never on I shouldn’t have to!!

Hello twinpickle,

The smart sidebar has an option for it here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/Qc0KsCwAnui Clear all the caches, purge CDN files and check the results.

Thanks.

I have recently added Newspaper to my site but I can not get the annoying ‘Smart Sidebar’ to stop popping up! I have found how to switch it on but it’s already switched off. And yes… I’ve tried turned it off and on again, lol! Is it just me? Are there two places to switch it on/off?

Hope this helps!

Hi holidayz,

If I understand correctly you refer at sidebar for posts and pages, if is so, then yes you can have it set on some/all posts( individual or global ) and on pages ( you can chose if you want or not the sidebar, which sidebar, or create one if you are using tagDiv Composer )
Here are some documentation :
Sidebars tutorial -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/sidebars-tutorial/
Smart sidebar -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/

Each post have Sidebar position, if you let it on default will be applay the sidebar from the theme panel, to have no sidebar you need to select it like in the screenshots https://www.screencast.com/t/emtTPWMtVst1 , do not forget to update the post.

For page in order to have sidebar or to be able to chose the position for it you need to set the page template to Pagebuilder + latest articles + pagination https://www.screencast.com/t/ZdaNxmZxHQ1I

Also if you have set from homepage a blog post, please go in Newspaper>Theme panel>Templates settings> Blog and post templates https://www.screencast.com/t/ZdaNxmZxHQ1I

Thank you for your understanding.

1. My mistake, indeed the smart sidebar doesn’t work on tablets. You are correct.

2. The page doesn’t have an actual height of it’s own. The elements inside the page rows will be the height. So setting a 100% height to a column will not do anything.
If you place a block for example, that has height values, padding, margins. The column containing it will have the height of what is entered in it.

Forcing a defined value would give the column a bigger height than the elements in it
https://www.screencast.com/t/AgOsbbdmHWLG
That would be the only way to do this.

Simion,

1. That’s incorrect. The smart sidebar does NOT stay sticky for mobile/tablet user agents.
2. I am not using adsense.

This is the only piece of information I need:

How can I make the sidebar “td-pb-span4 td-main-sidebar” height equal to 100% of the page? Using height:100% in CSS does not work for some reason. Something to do with how the theme is coded.

Simion,

Okay, here’s the long explanation.

I am trying to make the last ad in my sidebar sticky on all devices. The current smart sidebar only works on desktop.

I have tried:
1. Using basically all of the sticky plugins
2. A couple js scripts
3. Removing the ios targeting from tagdiv js (https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/sticky-sidebar-on-ios/)
4. Setting the sidebar to position:sticky;top:0;

I’ve had the most success with number 4 BUT it’s not yet a working solution because you need to set the height of the sidebar to the full height of the document in order for it to work correctly.

So normally, you’d just set the height of that div to 100%… but that doesn’t work with the theme for some reason.

In this example I set the sidebar container height to 100%, but you can see it doesn’t change size: https://imgur.com/a/olkRMbX

So, basically, summed up, in order for position:sticky to work, it needs the sidebar height to be the same height as the document. So I need to figure out how to dynamically have the sidebar equal the document height.

Thanks!

Hi guys,

I’m hoping to set the height of my sidebar (td-pb-span4 td-main-sidebar) to 100% so that I can make the element sticky on mobile where the smart sidebar does not work.

It appears the sidebar height is automatically made to the height of it’s contents, but setting td-pb-span4 td-main-sidebar to height:100% doesn’t make it any taller.

How can I do this?

Thanks

hi there Catalin, understanding bott, but i’m sorry not understanding what smooth scroll has to do with the Smart Sidebar functionality.. i just mean a normal href link e.g at the top of the page that can smooth scroll down to further down the same page.

Hello jonathan24,

Notice that our theme has the Smart Sidebar functionality as you can read in our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/smart-sidebar-2/ Regarding the mobile version, we do not have any such an option for smooth scroll, sorry! At the mobile version, the Sidebar does not exist.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hello, I have been using your theme for a long time at my pavlikeni.com and after the latest update noticed that on the right-hand side, the content of the sidebar “spills over” at times, when it freezes to execute the “smart” function staying in place while the rest of the site is being scrolled up or down.

Please attempt a few times up and down slowly in order to replicate. It happens for the 1st ad under the large image grid, and for the article below inside the “Бизнес” category box, called “Кафе-аперитив „TV Cafe”” and for the category box called “Свят” below them an the articles inside it.

Thanks,
Peter

Hi,

You can do that using a cloud template https://www.screencast.com/t/UqM77CicJ
tagDiv Cloud Library plugin documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-plugin/

For example you can add tow rows and set the layout for them 2/3+1/3 ( https://www.screencast.com/t/nk4ggd15T ), click the empty column from the right bottom, select column and check the sticky box ( https://www.screencast.com/t/4R2NYu9DBCAG ), now this empty element is sticky ( smart sidebar ), and the first one is a classic one
https://www.screencast.com/t/4R2NYu9DBCAG

Thank you.

I’m using Adsense on my site and the biggest paying ad slot is on the side bar but I also have a lot of white space so want to use the smart sidebar.

Is there anyway to make the ad not sticky and make the rest of the widgets move down the page

Hi Jadlom1990,

Please notice that every post have Post Settings were you can set individual side bar, just change the sidebar position and the custom sidebar from there ( https://www.screencast.com/t/aVUQ1a63p ), and update that post, then it will have the set sidebar; also the page have the side bar ( https://www.screencast.com/t/rKWscX22ZM7 ).

Please read our documentation about Sidebars tutorial, Smart sidebar.

Thank you.

Hi,

Indeed, in case of cloud templates you can customize the fonts directly in the composer. Click on the desired elements and it should have font settings in the composer sidebar
https://www.screencast.com/t/2NOVrvbjneQ

If the post has a review, you will have to add the review shortcodes in the post template
https://www.screencast.com/t/1AeoWSPXdYa
Only then will the review be displayed. There are some templates with review shortcodes in them, but you can add these to any template
https://www.screencast.com/t/BYwRLqFQj7

In case of smartlists, there are a few templates created by us which can be imported. Note that these templates don’t have the post content element in them, instead they have the single post smartlist element
https://www.screencast.com/t/5erGmyNTfB

The disqus commenting system has not been tested by us in combination with the cloud templates. I believe this has been added on our list of suggestions and it will be considered, we will try to find a solution in the matter. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Please let us know if you have more questions. We will try to help you.
Thanks
