I had changed my hosting plan with ssl after that social icons on website are showing like chinese letters. How can it be solved.
I already did that, is there maybe a problem because auf the HTTPS / SSL ?
Hello,
1. You do not have to use the plugin. Just use these settings in the cloudflare server: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/ (if the plugin was required, it would have been specified in the documentation)
2. Our theme is fully compatible with https. You do not need any at all plugins to move to ssl.
3. Unfortunately since the plugin is not tested I cannot say for sure if it will work or not. You wuill have to try it out with a bit of trail and error. We only recommend wp super cache and these settings: https://forum.tagdiv.com/cache-plugin-install-and-configure/
Thank you!
Hi,
I just bought the template and before installing it, I’d like to get the starting configuration correctly.
I’d like to use HTTPS, Cloudflare and Redis object caching.
Cloudflare is configured according to your guide, WordPress is installed using https (the homeUrl is https://domain.com) and Redis is configured and set to use this wordpress script
The questions I have:
1. Do I need Cloudflare WordPress plugin? If so, is it enough just to apply it and let it use default settings?
2. Are there any incompatibilities with HTTPS? (Let’s encrypt, if matters). Are plugins like Simple SSL needed to avoid mixed content? Couldn’t find any information in the documentation
3. As I haven’t found anything related to Redis, are there any known issues with the wordpress script or reasons why i should not use it? (Yes, I am planning to set up WP Super Cache as well).
I know these might not be standard questions, but it’s important to get the start correctly, else it will always come back to this moment later on.
Thanks!
As I stated in my original post; I did all of those things. Again, I went ahead and deleted all of the WordPress files and SQL databases. I started fresh today and uploaded all files via FTP, the WordPress installation, the Theme, and the bundled Plugins. I have only WPBakery Visual Composer Activated and I am still having the same exact issue. Newspaper 7.7 is installed. When trying to save the theme panel settings the square just keeps spinning forever…
Again, I have had success with this theme flawlessly using MAMP for a localhost install on my personal computer. This new installation is on a hosting account. We do not have a domain pointing to this account and access it via Virtual Host.
All help is greatly appreciated and thanks for responding so fast!
Hello Catalin,
Unfortunately, it did not work although I’m not using SSL. I set an Email to contact@tagdiv.com and provided a link to my site and wp-admin (login information and admin rights) so that you can login and load the translations.
Thanks in Advance,
Loano
It’s not an issue with the theme, I changed my site over to SSL during the week and it all works fine. Did you do a search and replace of all the old http to the new https?
Follow the steps in this guide, it’s one of the best I have seen https://www.keycdn.com/blog/http-to-https/
Make sure you have cleared all web, CDN and browser caches as well.
Hi!
The problem with the site work for the ssl protocol. It remains mixed content and problems with CSS styles.
I enlisted the help of web hosting provider with this issue.
His answer: Sorry, but the problem with the logo, styles and other things there for the reason that the database of your site URL c explicitly using the HTTP defined in JSON format, which is so easy to edit can not be, because it becomes invalid after such changes. You need to refer to your themes developer to solve the problem.
Currently, I have disabled the login or register from wordpress theme. However it is still present in the source code. this is triggering warning as my website is not ssl. And also I am getting a lot of fake people sign up.
Please tell how to remove login functionality from the theme.
I have a problem with the SSL certificate in the mobile version. What can it be? I still have version 7.0 Newpaper
Thank you very much!
[ Version 7.6.1 ]
– fix: We modified the login modal window code to only appear on the page when front page login is enabled. The hidden window was causing some Chrome browsers to mark a page as not secure (We have done extensive tests and it appears that the latest version of Chrome works as expected). Please note that chrome will mark all HTTP pages that request a password or credit card as not secure. The only way to get around this warning and still use a login window is to use SSL. If the login window is not important for you, please disable it.
File "update_log.txt" in zip-archive.
This means there is a theme related element that is called using http and not https. Please check the logos or background image or any other setting in the theme panel.

Hi why my blog using ssl and at https:// not green color ? but i try to change to another theme the https:// is green color ? see image i.is.cc/1roMoPyy.png & i.is.cc/1roWGAzJ.png why ?
My site is not yet https:// and Google is currently sending out warnings to sites who ask for passwords. I do not allow anyone to register or post on my site and I have disabled the login modal so it doesn’t show on the front end. But, Google is still reading the login code on the back end and thinking I am asking for passwords on my site. How do I eliminate this code all together so Google doesn’t think I am asking for information that will require SSL.
Thanks.
I use Newpaper theme and setup SSL. It work very well

Hi,
I have recently installed SSL certificate on my hosting account for the domain candorblog.com. After installing SSL certificate, the website https://candorblog.com/ which shows to be broken web page. Also, my hosting provider replied me that the links in the website page are insecure i.e they are loading with “HTTP” instead of “HTTPS”.
Please suggest me to correct the website code to the secure one.
Thanks
Hi Lucian,
1) Is it possible to deactivate all plugins via FTP? we don’t have access to admin now. A website is broken.
2) Second question: did you have other cases with a booster conflicting SSL?
Thanks,
Igor
Hi team,
After our developer installed SSL certificate, we have a big problem with e theme’s Booster.
Our website https://sport-tek.ru/ stopping working, and we see an error message%
<b>Catchable fatal error</b>: Object of class WP_Error could not be converted to string in <b>/www/sporttek/ssl/htdocs/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_wp_booster_functions.php</b> on line <b>716</b><br />
We deleted a plugin, but no luck, everything is crashed now.
What can be done?
Thanks in advance.
Igor
Hi everyone!
I’m using a Comodo SSL certificate on my website, but I noticed that the green padlock disappeared.
I checked on Whynopadlock.com/ and it shows only one insecure item:
Insecure URL: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/wp-content/uploads/2016/01/couple.jpg
Found in: https://xxxxxxxxx.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/style.css?ver=7.5
Apparently, that image came with the Theme, but I can’t find it. Does anybody has had the same problem? Any idea how to find and delete that image?
Thanks!
SSL (https) doesn’t seem to be any part of the problem here. For me it does not work without https.

WordPress Tip: How to Load Google Fonts Over SSL and Non-SSL
Thank you
Bogdan,
I appreciate your response. First, I want to let you know that I contacted the author of the plugin. He is aware of the cause of the conflict and pledged to fix it with his next release.
Regarding using either the mobile theme or an AMP plugin to offer a mobile experience, I think this is the wrong approach. An AMP-enabled mobile page is completely different than the pages generated by your mobile theme plugin. AMP pages get added visibility in Google search results and lead to increased clicks, impressions, and user experience thereby leading to improved SEO. AMP compatibility may also impact ranking within Google search results.
AMP isn’t about providing a theme but rather supporting a set of technologies that give the pages preferential treatment in Google search — an important element of any news site. I find it difficult to believe Newspaper is the best news theme for WordPress if it does not make it easy to support the implementation of AMP pages. On my site, AMP pages are only viewed when clicking on a Google search result on a mobile device. Visiting the site directly will load the regular mobile theme. Additionally, we provide a link on the AMP page to load the mobile theme for a better experience.
Making compromises for better search result placement is not optimal. Because of this, modifying the existing mobile theme so it is compatible with AMP would obviously be the preferred solution but you have stated in previous communications with me that this is not on your roadmap.
Therefore, choosing an official AMP plugin that works flawlessly with Newspaper as you have done with Contact Form 7, WP Super Cache, Font Awesome 4 Menus and other plugins is essential to ensure that Newspaper remains the best and most full-featured news theme for WordPress. The AMP for WP plugin is the best we’ve found and this is the one I would recommend you take a look at.
Thanks,
Ben
