Hi Chris,
Thanks for that, I always enjoy your informative answers
I’ve got 4 sites that run this theme, I’ve checked 3 of them and they are the same, ones down at the moment with ssl issues but I digress. I’ve got perhaps another 10 sites and none of them display this behaviour, only the 3 I have on this theme….
All my other sites just have their normal URL with a trailing slash in the Snippet editor so it must be something to do with how I have the thing configured?
I’m at a loss….
Many thanks
D
PS, an update of Yoast came out about 30 seconds ago, upgraded that and voila!!!!!! Back to normal 🙂 \o/ \o/ \o/
I have on my site a ssl-certificate installed but my theme supported not entirely correct. Not all content on the website is secure ssl says my internetbrowser.
Can you tell me what to do so that the certificate correctly and fully working.
Sincerely,
Marijn
Hi, today we migrate the site to Nespaper Theme it is very inestable because, some module, is using a sql query than is puting down the server.
I used all the recomendations, using cache, optimizing all in my hand to make this site faster.
But the SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS is making the querys and the site very slow, i choosed delete from my home page and single page all the functionalities that may be was using “pagination and sorting results”. But some query is still there.
In the logs of the server i can see only this.
| 4753 | root | localhost | | Query | 0 | | show processlist |
| 6325 | la4r3n4 | localhost | DataBaseName | Query | 4 | Sorting result | SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp___posts.ID FROM wp___posts WHERE 1=1 AND (((wp___ |
| 6326 | la4r3n4 | localhost | DataBaseName | Query | 4 | Sorting result | SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp___posts.ID FROM wp___posts WHERE 1=1 AND (((wp___ |
| 6328 | la4r3n4 | localhost | DataBaseName | Query | 3 | Sorting result | SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp___posts.ID FROM wp___posts WHERE 1=1 AND (((wp___ |
| 6329 | la4r3n4 | localhost | DataBaseName | Query | 3 | Sorting result | SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp___posts.ID FROM wp___posts WHERE 1=1 AND (((wp___ |
| 6331 | la4r3n4 | localhost | DataBaseName | Query | 3 | Sorting result | SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp___posts.ID FROM wp___posts WHERE 1=1 AND (((wp___ |
| 6332 | la4r3n4 | localhost | DataBaseName | Query | 2 | Sorting result | SELECT SQL_CALC_FOUND_ROWS wp___posts.ID FROM wp___posts WHERE 1=1 AND (((wp___ |
| 6337 | la4r3n4 | localhost | DataBaseName | Sleep | 1
This is de URL of the site: http://goo.gl/nGA3dp
What i should disable in the theme for stop this query??
Thank you!!
Sorry to keep updating this thread!
It would appear that it is possible due to the content that gets added to a page?
I tested this by creating a new page. When I add the following text, I get a title and bread crumbs:

Sorry to hassle you guys again. Is there anyway to change the section of the image shown? (screenshot attached). I would like it to show maybe the middle or bottom of that top image?
Charlie
Thank you! That worked flawlessly.
Hi
Try this css in theme panel > custom code > custom css: http://screencast.com/t/RWEQtJ9M527
.td-theme-slider.iosSlider-col-1{
height: 300px!important;
}
Let me know how it goes.
Thanks!
Hello ch.rammohan,
Unfortunately, only these configurations of our theme are tested with Cloudflare CDN, as you can see in our tutorial like this -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/cloudflare-cdn/ For more references in this regard, please consult this -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/ssl/
Hope this helps!
Thank you for the message!
I am using cloudflare CDN with ssl. I am not able to use the Newspaper theme panel in https enabled. If I try to save the theme panel settings it keeps on loading but wont save. Every time I needed to disable the https mode to enable the themepanel to make changes.
Please find the screenshot http://prntscr.com/a3ic7e
Hello Navito,
I have checked your website and saw your inappropriate image slider. If you want to reduce the height slider please try the code below and add it int Theme panel->Custom CSS area, as a quick solution.
The code is ->
.td_block_slide .td-icon-left, .td_block_slide .td-icon-right {
margin-top: -130px;
}
.iosSlider-col-3 .td_module_slide {
height: 450px;
}
Please notice that our theme does not enlarge the image but only crop this. If you don’t have the possibility to upload large images you could use a combination of plugins to upscale the thumbs – Thumbnail Upscale and Force Regenerate.
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you for the message!
Well, it’s good to keep up on security issues, as WordPress continues to refine its core platform and will advise to update when security vulnerabilities are found (e.g., “cross site scripting” issues, or a problem with ajax/java, or comments injection, etc.). This is the nature of the Web. Technically “SSL” has not been “secure” the past 20 years, contrary to the term secure. SSL3,TLS1,TLS1.1 are all not secure. So, the web continues to evolve and mature in terms of learning to actually test for security problems.
Right now, both Newspaper and WordPress are as secure as “is known” if you have the latest versions of each.
You should also check for articles online for how to harden/secure a WordPress site (e.g., don’t let folks register, don’t have your admin username be “admin,” us a plugin like limit login attempts to block folks trying to guess passwords, turn off editing of files from the WP admin panel, make sure your web host uses a dynamic system like CSF to auto-block IPs probing your site, avoid OLD plugins written prior to 2015, etc.).
You can use tools like Securi to scan your site for known malware, and your host can do the same.
Note that Google massively changed their algorithms in January to deal with issues of content spam based on “brand names” and other things, so every site with lots of “brand names” and company names may have seen some major changes in SERPS.
Checking your Google Webmaster Tools/Search Console regularly and examining what’s going on there is also advisable.
Hope that helps 🙂
Hello,
You can change it, but there will be consequences. Our theme depends on a fixed width. Every element is built in a grid view that depends on the total site width. If you change this width then all the elements you use on your website need to be adjusted to the new width (quite a bit of a hassle). We do not recommend modifying the width of the theme.
Thanks.
Hi,
Unfortunately there is no option to do this. You can only load one demo on one instance of the site. It can be done however with multiple sub-domains all having the theme installed and different demos installed on them, then adding redirects to the links. It’s a bit of a hassle, but unfortunately there is no simple option for it. Sorry.
Thanks.
The only solution that I could figure was to force my site to redirect non www adresses to www.
in htaccess ….
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} .
RewriteCond %{HTTP_HOST} !^www\. [NC]
RewriteRule ^ http%{ENV:protossl}://www.%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI} [L,R=301]
Better solutions?
Hello Mike,
Unfortunately the specific post does not seem to work. This could not be ssl related but rather a plugin conflict. Please try to disable all your plugins except visual composer and check your images again.
if the problem is still there please let us know and provide a working link so we can inspect it.
Thank you!
Hello,
Unfortunately this could be a number of things. You will need to follow a few ssl guides and make sure you did all the steps correctly:
http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/
https://css-tricks.com/moving-to-https-on-wordpress/
https://yoast.com/dev-blog/move-website-https-ssl/
You can also check our forum for some insight on ssl:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/moving-to-ssl/
It will require a bit of reading on your part. I hope this helps.
Thank you!
Hello
If you want to change your slider pagination with a bigger one and change the colors, please try the code below and add it in Theme panel->Custom CSS
The code is ->
.iosSlider-col-3 .td-icon-left, .iosSlider-col-3 .td-icon-right {
font-size: 100px!important;
color: green!important;
}
The result you should see here -> http://screencast.com/t/L1XSpdTkry
If is not what you mean and if you want to have just like into your example, please try to find some plugins with this functionality and see how it works for you. Please notice that is not a simple task and this implies custom work. If you are not aware with the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to implement this custom pagination for your slider because we cannot provide custom services at the moment, sorry!
Hope this helps!
Thank you for the message!
Hello,
Our theme has ssl support and there should be no issues in moving to https.
Please make sure you follow this guide to move your site over to https: http://www.wpbeginner.com/wp-tutorials/how-to-add-ssl-and-https-in-wordpress/
We have not tested any plugins that make this transition automatically so we cannot say for sure if the process gets done properly.
Thank you!
Hi,
we try to enable SSL on our website with Newspaper theme. The only warning we have is with images (post’s thumb) of the related posts plugin which are sourced as http. It’s like this plugin does not use relative path?
Thx
I’m using W3TC and Cloudflare with Flexible SSL enabled. I’ve disabled minification on Cloudflare and am using W3TC to reduce the number of requests. I do basic minification of CSS and html, but not JS since minifying JS breaks images on my front page. I also combine all CSS into a single file and JS into a single file to reduce the number of requests to my server, which also has the benefit of removing query strings so I can be sure all my CSS, JS, and HTML is being cached correctly by any caching proxies between me and my readers. Minifying html also improves pagespeed slightly since Cloudflare doesn’t cache or optimize HTML.
This also has the added benefit of not having to do a manual process every time I update my Newspaper theme.
Obviously, I’ve also disabled Cloudflare in the W3TC plugin so it doesn’t know I’m using Cloudflare. This means if I do feel the need to clear my Cloudflare cache for some reason, I have to do it manually from the Cloudflare website.

Hi there,
I think I had the same issue as you do since I didn’t move the whole site to SSL.
In such case, the login form should not be available through HTTP or users will login via HTTP. It will work but what’s the point in having SSL and have the users to login via HTTP? If define('FORCE_SSL_ADMIN', true); is set in wp-config.php, then the login will fail if made on HTTP. That’s what was happening to you, I think. It was happening to me.
To overcome this and still use the theme’s beautiful login window you have to customize the theme:
– make the header detect if user is not logged in and is connecting through http. If so, instead of printing the log in form as usual, the theme prints a link to the HTTPS version of the current page and adds a request o open the login window automatically.
– make the footer catch the request to automatically open the login window
(https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/need-javascript-help-call-the-modal-login-window-after-page-load/)
– change td-login.php file to set the https cookie wp_signon($credentials, true);
Here have a look at it working and if you want I can put here all the details. Click login on the top left menu and you will be redirected to https and have the login window thrown at the screen:
Cheers!
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to automatically call up the login window after a page loads.
The trigger is easy, when an url has a token like mydomain.com/?doaction=show-login-window, a javascript is printed in the page to call the login window function, or to simulate a click in the login link that has the #login-form anchor. This part I got it working.
I just can’t produce a javascript to call the window, I tried .click() and toggle() but I’m very bad at javascript.
Any help is very much appreciated, thanks! Cheers
PS: the reason to want this is because I have the website available in http and https (also force_ssl_admin) and I want to use the beautiful modal login window. Due to this (miss)configuration, the modal login window should only be available when connecting with https. When connecting with http the modal window link is currently being replaced with a link to regular old wp-login.php but I think it would be nice if I could redirect a user to the https version and call the login window automatically.
BTW, I think having an SSL installed may be the problem?
Hello Bogdan,
I am still using version 4 on my website http://www.thetrentonline.com. I made some modifications on the theme, as you can see.
I really want to upgrade to Newspaper 6 but I am concerned about 3 things.
1. If I upgrade to version 6, so I lose formatting, personalisation, customisation that I have done on the website? I have a strong feeling that the answer is yes.
2. If the answer to 1 above is yes, does the Tagdiv team offer this service? To find a trustworthy and competent developer can be a hassle.
3. Then, I am concerned about the constant upgrades of Newspaper 6. Every time I have to upgrade the them to .2 .3. .4 versions, do I have to go through the process of re-customisating the theme to suit my brand?
Thanks for your kind support.
