I tried installing the theme after it was updated today. I am unable to install the same after wordpress was updated to 4.9 and in the error log it shows error with the line 140 in the function.php
I updated the theme just like option C as said on this page; https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
But i am experiencing some difficulties
Problem 1.
But now i find my menu to be changed to only; about AND contact
When i go to ; display > menu’s
It has my original menu selected.
i tried selecting other menu’s and then back to the old one but it does now change.
How can i get my own menu back?

Problem 2.
On the end of my page the code below is being displayed. I reckon it’s the social icon widget?? I can’t remember but i see twitter and facebook in there so i figured it must be that. How can i change it back to normal?
my website = My website = http://serinawilliams.nl/blog/

Hi,
Please update the theme first to the latest version. Then update WordPress as well, there should not be any problems. See this guide for theme update steps

Thanks
Hi,
I’m having an issue with this particular category page on my site: https://eatsabroad.com/europe/ireland/dublin/
It’s supposed to show the category name (Dublin) at the top, as well as a few sentences of text. However, the embedded Google Map is completely covering all of this text. Previously it was appearing correctly on my laptop, but not on my smartphone. I just updated my Newspaper theme to the latest version, and now it’s appearing incorrectly on both (not sure if that’s the cause or just a weird coincidence).
I had added some custom CSS to make the embedded Google Map responsive on the mobile version. That seems to be working fine (it now fits within the screen, whereas before it didn’t entirely fit), but I’m not sure why it’s covering all of the text that precedes it. Any feedback would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Hello,
after update to the newest visual composer version (Newsmag 4.1) the visual composer is displayed as “WPBakery Page Builder” in plugin-page and the dashboard-sidebar. But the page builder was never installed before …strange.

Hi,
Much has changed in the theme since that version. In Visual composer as well. The best method would be to recreate the page with the latest version of Visual composer from the theme package.
Note that in Newspaper 8 the tagDiv composer was introduced, this page builder is the main page builder at the moment
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-composer-tutorial/
In future theme updates a considerable amount of options will be added for this composer only.
Icons in the menu can be entered like this

Thanks
Hello,
I’ve updated my wordpress installation from 4.82 to 4.9. After that I’ve updated the Newsmag-Theme to 4.1.
Now, there is a big problem:
The pictures in the article are always displayed in full size. But I have defined the images in middle size.
After downgrade to wordpress version 4.8.2 it works finde with Newsmag 4.1. The issue is only on wordpress version 4.9
Hope you can help.
Thank you and best regards
Andre
Hi,
i know that 4.9 just came out, but i would like to report problem that i got with it.
In the post, i have pictures that are with modal on and display size 300×180 (original 700×420).
After update, it seems that it doesnt take in account that display size, and push all pictures to maximum width of the post instead those 300×180 (or any other small resolution).
Any simple solution or to wait update for the theme? Which will be when? 🙂
Its nothing major, but still annoying, as it looks really bad.
Hi,
We are aware of the issue with the image captions, after the WordPress update. We will release a theme update that will fix the issue as soon as possible. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
If you would like to try and resolve the issue, try editing the theme stylesheet here
– https://www.screencast.com/t/l1hDDIy7
Remove the !important tag from the code
– https://www.screencast.com/t/7LTyVdUR
Or wait for the theme update.
Thanks
Hi,
For the homepage issue, a suggestion would be to check all the elements you have placed on the page, with Visual composer. Especially the design tab, values entered there. There seem to be empty or misplaced rows and containers on the page
– https://www.screencast.com/t/6NOE6x9KH
These seem to have margins set
– https://www.screencast.com/t/73aWMIzZ
If you were to remove the margins the page would display better
– https://www.screencast.com/t/dHOvj3LC
Double check the page layout and remove any unnecessary elements, and check the design tabs as well.
Regarding the ads, maybe something has changed in the ad code implementation, maybe you need to update the ad codes in some way. If they displayed before, that might be the case.
Thanks
Hi,
That would be the conclusion. In version 5.4.2 this is not happening, they might release an update for the issue.
Please note that you should not update Visual composer if you have the option (purchased plugin). We first test it with the theme and only then include it in the theme package
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Thanks
Hi,
It seems there have been changes to the way WordPress treats the captions, in the latest update. That is why this is happening. We will fix this in a theme update as soon as possible.
Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Thanks
Hello,
There are a few css issues in the back end like misaligned buttons in the demos section. We found no major bug except styling issue son the back-end exclusively. We will release an update for these fixes of course.
Thank you!
Hi,
We are aware of the issue when setting a background on that particular element. It will be fixed as soon as possible, possibly in the next theme update.
A solution would be to set a background color on the column or the row, depending on the layout you use
– https://www.screencast.com/t/pvb48WyIBEOB
Or maybe wrap the whole code in a div with a custom class, then refer to it with CSS. Sorry for any inconvenience this has caused for you.
Thanks
I just noticed that one of my original newspaper websites was not updated for ages. In fact it was running verion 4.6.x So I knew I had to start over completely. So I renamed the themefolder to .newspaper and re-uploaded the latest version.
Unfortunately there are a lot of inconsistencies on the homepage and menu’s.

Or do I need to completely recreate the homepage and broken menu items?
Helps to read the changelog before doing major upgrade for theme versions, such as from 7x to 8x, just like going from major versions of WP or WooCommerce, etc., — AS THINGS CHANGE OVER TIME. Hence “optional.” If your read the info on the change with v8, they have provided a new simpler leaner faster plugin they have come up with call TagDiv Composer which I’ve been using in beta for looooong time over here. Works great. Visual Composer is still included but is optional for those setting up theme for the first time. If you check the ‘all files’ zip download, you will see VC is still there.
Generally good to also make backups of your dbase, site files, plugins and theme prior to doing any major update so you can ‘roll back’ if something doesn’t work.
Welcome to WordPress! Always a learning experience!
B******t posts don’t server any purpose around here, for most of us who try to help. Best to RTFM and learn to use the tools so you don’t run into issues like this down the road. If you shoot yourself in the foot, the people who make your shoes are not to blame.
( I don’t work here. Just some feedback from long time user and webdev dinosaur )
Hi Bogdan B
That is an absolute b*****t response. After reading your reply I began trying to recompose a page and thought – well just check the settings for Visual Composer. Bugger me there is now NO Visual Composer installed, The recent update appears to have thrown it out. Worse in the Newspaper Plug In section Visual Composer is now listed as Optional – but wait for this – there is no facility to install the Visual Composer Plug In. What is going on.

Hi,
I’m currently running on theme version 7.8.1.
I would like to update to the latest theme version. I want to upgrade one-by-one for each update release.
Can you please help provide the links to all the upper version after v.7.8.1?
Thank you for your support.
In the TD editor I added a raw text element which has the option in CSS to set a background colour. When I try to do this, it completely covers the black text and form boxes, all I can see is the solid colour. Is there a workaround? This is my html

Hi, I’ve just started my Youtube channel and it currently shows 9 subscribers, but the social count continues to show “0” subscribers. I have entered channel/UCa3GaPI3nBl8PzBmqNJDYPg but it will not update. Facebook & Twitter is displaying correctly. Any ideas? Thank you!
Using final version of Newsmag 3.x works fine – just updated one site; doing the rest.
Have not yet updated NM 4x site so no idea, but presumably yes.
As always — and as noted on the WP update page — always always make backup of your dbase and website before *all* major updates so you can roll back if there is problem or glitch in your server setup.
Hi.
It’s time for the classical question – Does NewsMag latest version support WordPress 4.9?
Before a lot do an update, it would be nice to know 🙂
Thanks for the update. We shall endeavour to set up a test-bed site on a sub-domain, as suggested. But this won’t happen for over a week, as both the client and I will be on vacation. I will contact you via the email address once that is done.
Meanwhile the public facing front-end of the site is working fine whilst we are away.
Thank you again
Hello
Thanks for your response!
But if I do not put the news category in the Ajax filter the person can not see the news category again unless it updates the page to appear the news tab again.
