Just a note for your update steps, please clear all the caches and purge your files if you use CDN after you update the theme and the plugins. If not you will have caching issues.
Regarding the theme’s plugins update, the procedure is the same like for Visual Composer – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/ Of course you can do this also via ftp, there is not problem.
The Mobile Theme is an optional plugin. It is not a required plugin, so you don’t need to use it if you don’t want too, the theme still have a responsive layout and a mobile version like in version 6. You can read more about Mobile Theme plugin here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/ The Mobile Theme files cannot be overwritten via child theme.

2. The latest Speed Booster version is 4.5 so please make sure you use it with the latest theme version.

The Mobile Theme comes with it’s own template and Mobile Editor so you can add content for your pages there and they will not be empty – http://screencast.com/t/4XYf2A8pXM The Mobile Theme will not work with Visual Composer elements and it doesn’t render tagdiv blocks. Like I said above if you want the same content like on desktop also for mobile devices, just do not activate Mobile Theme plugin and it will be the same. If you want to use the plugin you will need to add content to your pages, create other menus and check the Mobile Theme settings from Theme Panel.

We are constantly looking to improve our theme to make it compatible with all the latest technologies but this takes time. We will make our theme compatible with php 7 there is no doubt about that, only the ETA is not yet set. We are still considering our options on how to go about it.

I’m about to perform a 6.7.1 to 7.5 update and I was wondering if you could clarify the following as the best practice?
Prep.
1. full backup.
2. copy custom code from 6.7 child and add it to the 7.5 child files in the code folder.
update.
1. start maintenance mode.
2. delete entire Newspaper and Newspaper child folders
3. FTP the new 7.5 Newspaper and Newspaper Child folders
4. clear cache.
plugins.
1. deactivate and delete VC, then add the new version and activate.
2. td-social-counter and td-speed-booster – Do I overwrite the files with FTP, or do I deactivate, delete and then add new?
3. Add new plugin – td-mobile-plugin and activate – Will this still read CSS code from the child theme?
Finish
1. Take site out of maintenance mode

1. Will my social counter keep its settings? or would I need to re-add all my accounts in the widget?

You do not need to activate your copy of Visual Composer as it’s a free version bundled with the theme that does not require any activation. If you use the mobile theme, please update your theme to the latest version (7.5) and also update the mobile theme plugin by deleting your currently installed one and installing the one that is bundled with the latest version of the theme.

We had our site located on a development site and used an IP address to access and test it, we have now switched it to the actual domain. Problem is, now Visual Composer does not recognize the domain and is asking us to buy a new licence. How do I update the Visual Composer licence to use our final domain instead of the old IP address?

I bought Newspaper theme one week ago, so I have the latest version, but I can’t update Visual Composer.

Everything was fine during the installation, but I still have the old version of Visual Composer (4.12.1).
I don’t know what is the problem now.
As an update, I tested just now and about half the pages on my site do the menu bar. It seems mainly the ones where I have it loading a block are not pulling up the menu. There is also a second error I am experiencing. None of my parallax or single color background images are loading using Visual Composer.
I am worried to reinstall I will lose everything. How can I reinstall WordPress and back everything up correctly.

This is the most common javascript error we have encountered. It is in most cases created by plugin conflicts or javascript optimization or minify tools. Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files. Then test again. Also check for any js minify/optimization as these tools can also create js errors.
Also child themes can also affect this if you have any custom code in there that is not added properly or simply because the child theme was not updated.

Unfortunately this is no easy task and there is no easy solution I can provide to make the mobile theme support custom post types. This has to be done at a development state. The mobile theme is still at version 1.0 so there will be more features in the future. I will add cpt support on the list for future mobile theme updates.

There is support indeed but it’s not 24/7 though. We are human after-all and have lives and families to take care of. Support hours are in the top right section of the screen. Please try to use this version of the mobile theme as there is a conflict with the current version and seo yoast but it has since been identified and will be fixed in the coming update. You can simply use the Google adsense boxes under “ads” in the theme panel.

Or, if you’re trying to do that site wide, I think there is a header code box under “custom code” in theme panel.
Or, you could manually add to the header.php file, but will need to redo on any theme update.
