hi when yesterday i update my theme to latest version
my cpu usage is very high on cpanel 95! and my site load very slow!!!
but ram usage and other is good
just cpu usage is very high!
and i test it again on version 7.3 and 7.4 its okay!

I have tested the patch and it works as expected. Please make sure you re-write the files in the destination folder properly and copy over all the files from the patch. We tested both replacing all the theme files (whioch worked anyway but just to be sure) and only uploading the patch files. Both methods updated the theme properly and no errors were found. Please make sure you also update your child themes. switch to the main theme so you are sure no custom code affects the update.

Please make sure you do not have any customization that will break the theme when updating.
Also test for any plugins that might not work anymore in 7.5 as this is a possibility as well.

Actually, as Bryson said, the issue is with ” td_options.php” which is probably a new file introduced in Newspaper 7.5 under ( includes/wp_booster/td_options.php), but it’s not present in ( patch of 7.4 to 7.5).
td_options.php was also not there in 7.4 or older version but it’s been called by td_wp_booster_functions.php on line 15 in 7.5 , hence probably causing this error.
Hence, in a separate attempt.
When I uploaded all files under “wp_booster” directory from new theme 7.5 ( Because I haven’t modified any files under wp_booster so it was easy for me) and then added other files from patch 7.4 to 7.5, it worked without any error 500.
But now , I got a new error ie. Blank homepage ( Read a new thread here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/urgent-help-homepage-blank-after-recent-update-to-7-5/)
In short, Unfortunately, TagDiv needs to re-work on patch this time and as “Chris” suggested in a reply, it’s a good idea to do complete theme installation ( Yup, it’s time-consuming but probably this is the only method left with us 🙁 )
Updated Newspaper 7.4 to 7.5 using the FTP method. Received same HTTP ERROR 500… Reinstalled Backup of the theme. Never had something like this before. Any news on this problem? Thx!

It seems to be a issue with the actual version of WordPress which do not allow you to delete the theme. You should update your theme using the FTP method, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/

You do not need to activate your copy of Visual Composer as it’s a free version bundled with the theme that does not require any activation. The only way you can activate it is to buy the plugin and receive a purchase code but you do not need to do that. It is mentioned here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/

I updated Newspaper 7.4 to 7.5 using the FTP method. It worked on my sub-directory (multi-language site), but not on the main domain (English site).
Any suggestion to resolve the issue is appreciated. Thanks for doing a great job in creating the theme.

Hi,
There is a list in the theme panel that shows where each module is being used. In the case of module mx8 it is used only on block 18 so your change will not affect any other block. You will find this list here: http://screencast.com/t/y3t0atLB9a
As for the updates, the mokdules can be altered from the child theme as this guide suggests: https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/ It will spare you a few updates if the file does not get modified.

Wanted to say that I recently purchased this theme and it’s exactly what I was looking for! To start off, I updated the theme to 7.5 today as well as the plugins… all went well. A great majority of the questions I had were answered in the forums already and the changes were made successfully. My site is nearly complete except for the following adjustments:
1. Mobile header
First, I deactivated the mobile theme plugin since I want the mobile site to look like the desktop version. My logo color is blue #1369bf and I was able to change the search icon to this color as well. However the menu bars are still black and I’ve tried all the options in the Theme Panel. Please help me change this to blue.
2. Author page

Instead of the “Next Prev ajax” pagination, I want to change it to the “Load More” button. I am looking to display random posts from all categories as well.
4. Category page
I would like to make these three adjustments:

b. I turned off the category pull-down filter for all categories and would like to display random posts instead of latest

Optimum method is apply custom changes to new files from new theme, then delete old theme, upload your new version with custom mods applied, and upload updated plugins.
Anyway thats how i do it to be safe.
Update the theme and since the update does not show two blocks of advertising on the phone, but if on the desktop.

I were about to update the theme to 7.5 now. I followed the instructions to do it by WordPress. I activated another theme, and tried to delte the current Newspaper theme. But then i get this error:
“Deleting failed. The theme you trying to delte does not exist.”

I followed the same steps to update my visual composer and i still have the 4.12.1 version. What should i do?

So, I used the given patch to upgrade from 7.4 to 7.5 via FTP ( I have been suing Filezilla for this from very ling time) as the upgrade completed. My website stopped working and gave this error

So, I tried to re-upload each modified files ( one by one manually) with old ( 7.4) versions and every time I checked if any particular file is causing this. But I couldn’t find the issue.
I also tried disabling the plugin, putting default .htaccess file, and functions.php but nothing worked.
Finally, I had to restore the whole site with my old backups and only then my web site started working.
I have also gone through various threads today, and many other users are facing this issue. Please tell me what should I do to patch the newest version/

I want to inform that I could not reproduce the update error. I had no difficulties updating automatically.
OK I’ll just have to re-apply the fix after every theme update then. Is that the only place module mx8 is used or does it ever get rendered at a different size?

Please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and rest cdn files. Also make sure you switch to the main theme to make sure any code in the child theme does not break the theme. (a child theme is never update proof. It needs updating too)

So, to clarify, the new mobile theme will not take Custom CSS from the Newspaper child theme? If I wanted custom elements on post pages, would I need to create a child for the mobile theme?

EDIT – I guess I need to just paste all my child theme CSS into the CUSTOM CODE section of the mobile theme backend right? then presumably back it up on any future updates.
