Hello,
The latest version of visual composer was already included in newspaper 7.4 please update your theme using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ and then update visual composer by using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/
Thank you!
Hello 24Uutiset,
Please try to update your theme to the latest version of it (Newspaper 7.4) because this type of issue was resolved in that version, as you can see in our changelog, here -> http://screencast.com/t/LwRRHnGUN
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello jlcougy,
The latest version of the theme is fully tested and seems to work as properly. Please notice that you cannot delete the theme but only you will have to update it via FTP method, according to our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your understanding!
Hello ozgurtaskaya,
For other users who access this topic, please notice that after several investigations in this regard have concluded that this type of issue come from WP Supercache which is not fully compatible with WordPress 4.6 and that’s why this problem occur. We hope that WP Super cache plugin will be updated it as soon as possible and that problem will be fixed. Notice that this issue appears and on Mobile Theme from Jetpack when the caching plugin is active.
Please notice that we have reported this issue to Jetpack and we are waiting for an update from them. Until that, you should use our workaround posted here -> https://github.com/Automattic/wp-super-cache/issues/132
Also, please try the theme without any untested plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all your caches and install only the plugins that come bundled with the theme and rule out any conflicting in the theme.
Thanks for the message and sorry for the inconvenience!
I had the same issue as the OP, you will have to use FTP to change the theme. FTP instructions here https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Something changed after the last wordpress 4.6 update.

As I said before, I didn’t download it manually. Envato Market plugin takes care for the update.
It is automatically updated through WordPress. Where can i get the newer version of WPBakery Visual Composer?
Cheers
Today I’ve update my theme to 7.4, How about WPBakery Visual Composer? There is an update available but can’t install it because it’s not licensed?
Hi TagDiv Team,
Is it possible please to respond to the original query as soon as possible? I am struggling with a deadline and had to put everything on hold. I am not a heavily experienced user as Chris, hence his solution is not going to work for me. I should be able to follow TagDiv’s suggested Theme steps update as explain in the tutorials. I am not sure how relevant this is but I am using WordPress 4.6.1.
Thanks for the efforts.
Regards,
Anna
Hi there,
I’ve updated my theme and downloaded your provided child theme, but when I activate the Child Theme all of the post images disappear. Not sure why or how to fix this. I have deactivated the Child theme for now, but would really like to be able to use it as I have alot of customization I will be adding on to the site. My url is: http://www.vancitycondoguide.com/
Please let me know what I am missing!
Thanks
The best way to upgrade is
a) delete old version of theme AND the included plugins via FTP
b) install new version of theme in theme folder via FTP
c) upload updated plugins to plugin folder via FTP
d) login to admin panel, resave permalinks
e) optimize dbase with wp-optimize
That is how I’ve been doing it past 3 years with theme back to version 1x. 🙂
Hello, i am using the most updated version of WordPress and Newspaper v7.3 theme. On my homepage i have Big Grid 9, Block 2 and Block 19 being used.
First question, is there a way to remove the author and date tags? As highlight in red in the picture below. Secondly, on “Block 2” is there a way to hide the comment icon? as shown in green. Thanks for your help
@thanop – And a last question
Did you try after updating to Newspaper 7.4 to delete this Theme in WordPress Backend? So that we know if we have to change the procedure for future Newspaper 7 Updates? Or if this caused just with Newspaper 7.3 to 7.4 and WordPress 4.6.0 to 4.6.1?
Ok Got it, I know the reason already.
The main reason is if your WordPress is updated to the latest version “4.6.1”, you will NOT be able to delete “Newspaper Theme” as described like this topic. I’ve tried to delete the current “Newspaper Theme” with WordPress 4.6.0 (I have one more host which is NOT updated to 4.6.1 yet), it’s working fine.
My solution is, going to
/wp-content/themes/
and “Delete” the “/Newspaper” manually then back to re-upload theme again. It’s working fine as well.
I was wondering if the latest version of Visual Composer was included in 7.4. I noticed VC got an update a few weeks ago but it’s not included with Newspaper as of yet. Thanks!
HI
Please make sure that you update the theme according with our documentation, deactivate the child theme if you’re using, clear all caches, purge cdn files if you’re using then test the site again.
Let us know how it goes and if the problem persist provide your site url so we can have a closer look.
Thanks!
Hello kamoe,
Please update it to the latest version of it -> Social Counter 4.1 which come bundled with the latest version of the theme -> Newspaper 7.4 You will have to delete the old Social Counter and then you will have to install the newest one from the Premium Plugin area. Before checking the results, please check the Installed PLugfin area to check if the Social Counter has the proper version, like this -> http://screencast.com/t/FdCj64WI
Thanks.
Hello joncreek,
If you want that all your custom CSS want to be valid for other updates and do not want to loose it, please notice that you should use the child theme and add there all your custom CSS which you have it. For more information about child theme support, please check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/
Hope this helps!
If is not what you mean, please provide more details so I will be able to provide a more accurate response.
Thanks for your understanding!
WP returns “Unable to delete the theme, don’t existe”…
What can i do ?
Delete the theme manually ?
I know thank you, but in the update usually there is a folder named “patch” where you can find only changed files. maybe the developers have one with the changed files from version 7.2 to 7.4…
Hi,
I updated the Newspaper script to 7.4, but after that my posts are not on the right positions any more.
See this screenshot. They have to showed up on the right side, not below:

Could you please help me to get the posts on the right positions again?
just to add, this started occurring since update from 7.2 to 7.3 and update of wordpress 4.6
any update about this one?
