Regarding the SEO themes I’ve used, none of them are ‘magical’. I think you will find them quite limited compared to Newspaper, which is why I stay interested in Newspaper updates. Here they are:

I like these themes because I know I can use them to rank for competitive keywords on sites with weak backlink profiles, i.e. brand new sites.
If I had time, I would modify the Newspaper theme myself. If I could sell the mod, that might make it worth my time. 😉

Dunno how long this has been an issue as I’ve been working on other projects but I noticed today my header ads had disappeared from my sites.
I’m not using ad-sense just a clickable image but the ads were there before and now they aren’t, at first I though it was because I had moved servers but I have bought 4 instances of the theme and only 2 have been moved to new servers but all 4 are now not showing header ads.
It’s not a huge problem cos none of the sites are generating ad revenue anyway but does make the header look a bit bare and I’d like to get to the bottom of it.
I’ve tried to disable all plugins apart from VC and Social counter but the problem remains.
I’m using the ad code from the documentation but when I save it and refresh the page it removes my logo from the left side of the header and there’s no image. I’ve tried a few adjustments to the code and that breaks the main navigation (im using header style 3)
Let me know if you’ve come across this before, I’m assuming it’s been like this since the last update as nothing else has changes and all 4 sites are displaying the same behaviour. I’ve cleared all caches etc but the problem remains.

There is no option in the theme to remove the gradient, but it can be done with a css trick.
It can be removed with this custom css:
.td_block_big_grid_2.td-grid-style-1.td-hover-1 .td-module-thumb a:last-child:before{
display:none!important;
}

Hi there guys, I searched the forum and couldn’t find an answer.
We just updated from 4.5 to 6.7.
Our homepage had beautiful clear images, and now they are extremely dark, due to that gradient filter.
Is there a setting for this? I’d like the pictures to be dark just on the lower part, so that the title (in white) can be read better, but there’s no need to darken the entire image (and with that intensity).

In a future update, it is possible but we cannot say for sure if it will get done in the next update because we have a big list of fixes, improvements, and suggestions to implement. It’s hard to filter them and select which one gets implemented now and which one gets postponed. The developers decide if it gets done or not, though. Until we can do it, you can use a plugin.

AS you know SEO takes a bit of study and effort to get right. Improvements have been made and will still be made in the future with every update. Since the last reply on this topic (since July) there have been a decent amount of updates that improve SEO rankings. Unfortunately not all SEO issues posted here have been resolved but we are getting there. We are working on adding improvements for the next version as well, but as Chris states above, It’s not entirely up to the theme. Most of the optimization needed for SEO can be done manually even if the theme has no specific setting applied automatically. SEO Yoast also has seen some improvements since then and they have even created a very comprehensive tutorial, ‘the definitive SEO guide’: https://yoast.com/wordpress-seo/
The bottom line is, the theme itself is not enough for SEO. The theme helps with a few features and these will get improved over time but everyone needs to optimize their own site to obtain better rankings.

Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. I suspect this issue come from untested plugins which can interfere with the new latest updated and which could cause some js errors in the theme and get these issues.

Unfortunately time does not allow us to test and implement different plugins as we work hard on updates, fixes and support. You can test different plugins with a bit of trial and error and find one that works. There are quite a few to chose from.

We’ve imported a large database of content to the new site, within various categories. For various reasons, we need to set a specific post template for all of these older posts; and will maintain a different template for all new posts based upon the global settings in Categories.
Knowing full well, we can edit specific post templates within each post; we have over 2000 posts that will need one specific template that isn’t the global category. Is there a way to bulk change just these posts – or can other users suggest a plugin that they have found that may work (understanding the devs can’t guarantee success at all).
Any suggestions would be value.

I did theme update from 6.4 to 6.7. Everything went perfect, but only thing which changed is that my smart sidebar is not working anymore. I got this in my visual editor in place: td-ss-row. But still have no idea why it is not working anymore..

Best bet is to make back up of dbase, backup of all site data via FTP, export theme settings from theme panel, export data from WP export panel, copy/paste anything from custom css panel to text file, etc. — these are all normal backup/safe keeping procedures.
Upload new theme over old one. Make note if you changed any templates you will need to reapply them. Remember to also update plugins.
Envato toolkit sometimes does not work, resulting in mix of broken pieces — hence good to have backup where you can simply re-upload via FTP to put eveeything back vs site being down.

I have a wordpress site with 4.4.2 and Newsmag theme 2.2
I want to add a sidebar ad unit to show the ads only on desktop devices, and not on mobile devices.
I’m using td-visible-desktop but still the ad appears on mobile devices as well (towards bottom of the page).
Note : I’m using Google’s new GPT ad tags.
There are two things which we tried to fix the problem:
1. We updated to the new theme v2.3.5 on a test environment and used the GPT ad tags, it worked perfectly fine. 2. On theme v2.2, we used Google’s old ad (GAM) tags, and the problem got fixed.
We need a solution where we can use GPT tags, on theme v2.2 wherein the sidebar ads are only visible on mobile devices or desktop, basis the class we use i.e. td-visible-desktop or td-visible-phone

On the URL, you will see 4 ads on the sidebar. The second and third ads are coming through Google’s old GAM tags, whereas the fourth ad is coming through Google’s GPT tags.
The second and third ads are not visible on mobile devices when we use td-visible-desktop, but the fourth ad is visible on mobile devices as well, even though we’ve used td-visible-desktop class.
I’m also awaiting this update. Any ideas on the release date?

Hello, I updated the theme to latest version and I noticed that from the theme control panel Excerpts of the command on the title has no effect while the content. In default of 25 lines if I try to change this modifcation is not performed. I attach screenshots. And ‘possible to intervene direttamenre on the block? How. Thank you, good job

But, in this case If the article is read 4 times for example, it automatically gets to 8. I just want each read to be counted for 2.

Hi there, I bought the theme a week ago to update my website. I am still working in localhost and something happened and I don’t know how to fix.

Those settings will not get lost at all as they are kept in the database. The only thing that will be lost is customization. Custom code added to the theme files. The files get replaced in an update. If you have no custom code added in the theme files, you can update your theme without problems by following this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ Do a back-up though to be on the safe side.

Good morning, since I updated the theme (neswpaper) to version 6.7
I have had trouble in the footer formatting of my site, which ceased to be full and turned into a box and is horrible for the readers of my website!
I expect a solution as quickly as possible because already tried to reinstall it and so far nothing to solve this problem. And I’m just wasting money on advertising with all my mangled portal.

Please make sure that you updated the theme according with our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/newsmag-how-to-update-the-theme/ deactivate all plugins except Visual Composer, clear all caches, purge cdn files if you’re using then test if the problem is still there.

We’ve been using Newspaper 6.6 for several months without any problems. We’ve received notices of updates but I haven’t gone ahead with any of them yet. My question is, what will be changed if I update from 6.6 to the current version? We’ve made many configuration changes, such as colors, ads, posts, and such and don’t want to lose any of that. Can I update without messing up any of that? I’m also not using a child theme, does that matter?
