There have been quite a lot of these threads lately. I´m still on 6.1 and everything is working as it should.

Can we be guaranteed that there are no more SEO mistakes made in the 6.3 update or is it better to wait with updating till a later version? Cause if there is one thing one usually can´t afford it is ranking loss due to technical issues.

since i have updated 4.0 with 6.0 i need a 4.0 version of newspaper to make it look like cafe layout NOW. The only reason i have bought this theme was cafe layout actually. Now that the whole look of my site is changed into something i dont like at all. this makes me really upset. I also dont want to pay extra fees to someone to fix this problem for me since this problem did not exist before i updated the theme. you have changed the theme into something completely different from my perspective.

in the 6.0 folder there is an old version but when i load it, it gives me fatal error about some widget problem.
So i kindly ask you to we transfer me the old version to avni@rakicioglu.com

if you can tell me as well ” Cafe stack and adjust your settings manually for version 6 to look like that.” which parts do i need to change inorder to make it look like cafe layout.

One other problem i am facing the new theme is that, i do some changes in the menu fonts but it doesnt update it in the site somehow. the fonts dont change ..

I’m using NewsMag 1.7 but noticed a few things in version 2 that seem interesting.

1. Added .screen-reader-text class for better usability – I found the CSS for this in styles, but what exactly are you using this for, is it on post page? Would like to know what this adds and how to add it.

2. We audited the theme and and we made major improvements in speed and memory usage, especially in use cases that have big taxonomies, like a lot of categories or tags. – Is this something i would be able to fix on NewsMag 1.7, please let me know how to implement improvements?

3. The panel now uses the modern WordPress media upload – Is this easily updated with one file and which file is it?

I have not yet updated to NM 2.0 …
I will be doing so soon; and will post *updated* code for bottom of functions.php file. Not tested with child them, nor will I. 🙂

Note the things which are “safe” to use are those which modify the general WordPress core stuff, like removing versions, adding warning for those trying to guess login, changing default compression, emoji removal.

Don’t use Thomas’ long winded block of stuff for htaccess; as most of that has nothing to do with me and seems related to his optimization third party service doing stuff – some of which looks redundant to me.

Bryson T’s “slim” summary from July 2 in this thread, above, would be safe place to start.

Always remember to clear *all* your caching couple of times so you’re not loading old/new CSS and functions!

Try to update the theme at the last version which it’s 2.0 and the visual composer plugin at current version 4.5.3, the plugin it’s included in the file you download from themeforest. Here it’s a guide about how can you update the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/ and also delete the old version of visual composer and install the one from the theme.

The newsmag theme have a different design than newspaper and i am afraid that it won’t be possible only with custom work. We would have gladly made it for you but we are a small team and we are working very hard on the development, updates, fixes and support and the time doesn’t allow as to provide custom work.

Do you have any custom modification to display social widgets in main menu?
By default header style 5 don’t include top widget, and you will need aditional css customization, unfortunately we cannot offer custom work as we work hard on the development, updates, fixes and support. You can always get a freelancer from sites like: http://studio.envato.com/ if you don’t know how to do it yourself.

You can try to use media queries and customize social icons for each screen size like here: http://screencast.com/t/OJx6J1N8F this is for dekstop, and you need to find a similar solution for small devices:

Try to update the theme and the plugins at the latest version, clear the cache, purge your files if you use cdn and test again. The plugin should work fine as was tested with the theme. Before the update check our documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-theme/

You are not planning to release any security updates anymore to V4? That’s very disappointing. As mentioned – we tried updating to V6 but it completely ruined our website – we would need to redo the whole site and that’s just not acceptable.
I hope very much you do release security updates to V4.

The latest version of Nevspaper 4 it’s V 4.6.3 and we don’t plan to release another. The only available update it to the latest version of Newspaper 6 which it’s technically an new theme and the update must be done carefully.

Okay, so i’m going to use Animated GIF Resize plugin for now.. hopefully somebody keeps it updated.

Also smart lists get the full image, is there a way to get a scaled image to a specific size? Like the image size on big grid?
