I suggested to check the Visual Composer version as you use an old version – http://screencast.com/t/S5dHRwyIsD as the theme was not tested with old versions of Visual Composer and may appear some issues(this is also for future updates recommandation).
Also about slider issue please check how you filter the first slider as if you don’t have articles on that specific category or tag it will not be displayed. So please check slide settings and check how you filter posts.

Yes, version 6 of Newspaper is practically a new theme and the custom modification from previous version will not work, you will have to re-add/rebuilt them. You use 4.5 version of the theme, please send an email at contact@tagdiv.com with request for 4.6.3 version of the theme, paste item purchase code, also a link to this topic and will send you that version. This was the last update of old theme and the playlist it should work.

Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option for this, but you can try to change it using custom css in Theme Panel > Custom Css and apply a color for post titles on pages(it will be applied also on Big Grid Slide) – http://screencast.com/t/wCh0iuWQlRe

If you refer to the block title in version 6.1 it was added an option in Theme Panel >Theme Colors to set a general color for all blocks/widgets titles – http://screencast.com/t/IcPkM5CMB – http://screencast.com/t/c3u7wg6EXVo

In version 6 of the theme were changed the page templates, the sidebar that you see on those pages is sidebar added for latest articles. You can manually add a Widgetised Sidebar widget to your page content – http://screencast.com/t/UwD7n61Q if you want to use that template with Latest Article. Or you can set Pagebuider with title and the defautl sidebar will be add automatically, you don’t have to split the row – http://screencast.com/t/CZZO259mZ3

I’m very sorry that you encountered so many issues. Newspaper 6 is a whole new theme that is released for free for all of our existing customers (and it’s the biggest theme we ever made) so an update from 4 to 6 may cause the same issues as switching to another theme (but we did try to maintain compatibility where ever possible). We also ship the old version of the theme that will continue to be supported with security updates and hotfixes.

You can find the old version of the theme: in /old_version folder

If you use child theme please switch to the main theme, clear cache and check if you still have this issue.
We know about this issue with child theme, please use main theme until we release an update to fix it(in few days a new version will be release with some fixes).
