I don’t think any theme developers are going to worry about support for Safari for Windows at this point as it’s dead and buried, unfortunately. I don’t think it’s even been patched for all the various security issues like SSL3, etc.
ideally some kind of user agent should pop up a message as is done with IE6, saying “You’re browser is out of date and insecure and was abandoned in 2012 – please instead use a modern browser like Chrome or Firefox”
I was actually trying to figure out how to do that using the normal snippet often used for IE6/7 users ….
Anyway. I’m now going to update my site to 1.4 and see what blows up 🙂
Did you update something?
Did you install new plugin?
Link to page for example?
That might be issue … I always have problems with Child Themes.
And also a trick to update, as you have to do some funky thing I forget, where you have to disable both when updating, and look at changelog for child theme update as with young themes the CHILD THEME MIGHT HAVE CHANGED (!). Which kind of defeats the purpose, I know; but that’s the dealio with that.
I don’t use child themes anymore due to two issues: 1) weird issues with plugins and other things nobody can ever figure out; 2) it’s a CSS redirect, which Google doesn’t like, so we don’t like. 🙂
Hello,
After this latest update (08/01/15), all my unordered lists seem to not show up with the bullet points, as you can see in a post like this one. I’m not sure why, but it’s only this one; the ordered list (with numbers in numerical order) works just fine. The code in the editor works just fine, and the spacing is there correctly, it just seems like perhaps the “bullet icon” is missing. Any ideas?
Thanks so much!
Christian
Great feedback. Now that I am at a computer, Disqus is not showing on posts (both desktop and phone) when enabled. When disabled, wordpress comments take over and are visiable. I know for sure Disqus was just working prior to v1.4 update. 🙁
@ Chris S – Yes, the homepage is a mess while we figure out how to place content and while we create content. Also, great suggestion about starging the homepage fresh.
Hi thanks for your reply ….
the thing is, that I can see these non breaking spaces in the text editor (after hitting the enter button friom within the visual editor), but it does not have any effect. This really happens since i have done the update from ultimatetinymce to wpedit.
this may be not the reason for it. but the old version of the plugin had a button for these linebreaks. and it worked fine.
Well, you still need to build your home page if it’s a new blank website.
Look at the ‘hello world’ post page to see if the styles have applied; at least that’s how it works for me.
Are you also clearing server side cache if you’re on a hosting provider that turns that on for your WordPress install for you (if you’re using a WP specialist host), and also if using CDN you need to release/update/expire stuff for the new CSS to load.
a) be sure not to test this with child theme
b) be sure to test this on real web server, not local install
a link to a sample page might be helpful 🙂
Safari for Windows was abandoned Summer 2012 (2 1/2 years ago!) by Apple and does not support the latest web tech, and should not be used for anything, frankly.
Theme works great in Safari on all other platforms. But Safari “for Windows” is an abandoned product which hasn’t been updated in forever, may not be secure, and should not be used by anyone at this point.
Hi,
I haven’t seen the feature in the new update.
Could you tell me exactly where I should replace the code? I tried but it is not showing correctly. My site is at http://www.techwalls.com/
Thanks
Any update on Disqus comment count on posts showing up in theme count site wide?
Hi there,
What would be the best way to update the theme if I can’t use child theme? Just manually like keeping a log of all custom changes and put them back after updating the whole theme? Or updating just the patch? Is there maybe a smarter way of doing it?
Cheers
Not a theme issue; it’s because something tried to access the theme folder directly which nobody should do. Just like somebody trying to access /wp-includes/ or similar.
Normally you will get a 500 error or similar when changing / updating theme, one time. This is normal and not a flaw/bug; but how WordPress works and Google accessing something at same time update is being done, or if somebody trying to hack your site by testing the theme folder for vulnerability.
If you continue to get the error over and over beyond the normal happening from theme switch, you need to modify your WordPress install as noted here – it’s *not* a theme issue:
https://ardamis.com/2011/06/02/fix-for-php-fatal-error-get_header-in-wordpress/
Please help me out (again). I need to add subtle image descriptions to style 4 of post templates to avoid the danger of getting sued. Should be a common problem and hence be something you could consider adding into the one of the next theme updates.
Ok seems that last update helped fixed the issue now. I’m using the NewsMag Child Theme, so hopefully anyone else running into similar issue this may help them.
I saw that you updated the theme again, great job on that.
Would love to know which files are responsible for the lower ram usage, could you name them because I’ve edited a lot of core files in the main theme folder. 🙂
- improvement: dynamic loading of blocks and modules ( ~15% lower ram usage )
Thanks! 😀
I got an update email. I have downloaded, and now I suppose it’s the Newsmag.zip file I must upload?
Received this also, going to update today. Good job tagDiv, it amazes me how you can be here for all the queries and make an update as well! 🙂
Just FYI – I received an update notice.

Hi Lucian,
I tested the htaccess method, however that did not change anything. As I mentioned above, we used the Ubuntu font for titles on our last theme (Valenti from Cubell) with no problems. We are using Source Sans pro for content font, Ubuntu seems the ideal choice for title font.
2. sorry – forgot to update you, I have managed to solve it using the exact same css 🙂
Thanks for looking into this!
Lukas
Hi,
You don’t need to update/activate it as the updated and latest version it is added within theme’s files so you just need to download the latest theme version(4.6.1) from themeforest: http://themeforest.net/downloads ..then update your theme using this guide and the FTP method: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
After that remove the VC plugin and use this guide to install the VC plugin included within the /plugins folder that was included within the theme files you’ve downloaded from themeforest: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
Thanks
The system is asking to update my WPBakery Visual Composer, but appear rhis message: “Please activate your license in Product License tab”
This plugin was included in Newspaper Theme, so what do I have to do?
Hi Lucian,
Thanks for your help. I updated the theme and it was ok after that. Today I posted a new post and the same problem occured. I turned the plug-ins on and off and the problems was solved. I guess that’s what I have to do now after posting something. I will see how it works and get back to you if it happens again. thanks
Hi,
You can download it from themeforest: http://themeforest.net/downloads
Yes, you do as the latest version of the theme is 4.6.1 and the option in panel to show the author under the title was added in 4.4 theme version: http://screencast.com/t/elMDqViQ so please make sure you update your theme and you will also have this option.
Please use the theme update guide and use the FTP method and also remember to make a backup of your current theme installation so in case something goes wrong you can revert back to it. Here are the docs on how to update the theme: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Thanks
Hi,
I believe you refer to the Visual Composer issues which appear with older versions of VC when updating WordPress to 4.1
I have noticed you use already use the latest theme version(4.6.1) and also the latest VC version(4.3.5) which should work fine together as the VC was fixed in the latest version to work on WordPress 4.1 also.
I have noticed though some extra css, the one that adds the space between elements which should not be there so you could try to remove and re-install it from the plugins folder that was provided within the theme’s downloaded files and use this guide to do it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/
After that remove the css I gave you and check if those space are still added.
Please let me know how it goes!
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for your suggestion. I will add this on our request list and we will consider it for future updates.
You can also use a plugin like Advanced Custom Fields and use this method to do it: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/function-to-hide-ads-and-function-to-show-author/
Thanks
