I want to enable Whatsapp sharing button on desktop. CSS should not be a problem, but the link starts with whatsapp://send?text=H, I’d like to override it to https://wa.me/?text= in a child theme.

May I know why the theme is not using the latest form of the link?

After updating Newsmag to 4.9, my Posts page (https://piracymonitor.org/blog/) is broken. Two problems:

1) The page was designed to contain a text block that with text that introduces the content for for this page. But this content no longer appears at all (it is supposed to appear above the posts).

2) The filter for the block that I am using to display the actual posts was set to show only the posts that are categorized as ‘BLOG.’ However, the page now shows ALL posts, regardless of category.

When I attempted to use tagDiv Composer to access my Blog page to re-establish the text block and the filter, the WordPress admin console tells me that tagDiv Composer can no longer be used on the Posts page.

See screenshot https://ibb.co/WgnHMvr

Also, the mobile version of my home page no longer contains the same content of the home page that shows in a Web browser. I made no changes. The 4.9 update broke this.

What next? Step by step instructions please! Thank you.

The answer is posted, just scroll down to July 12th, 2019. You need to update your CSS code.

Hi mOrtyr

I also need this functionality but my limited coding skills mean I haven’t been able to get it to work.

Would you mind sharing your updated solution?

Thanks.

Best

I updated from newspaper 8.8 to 9. In 8.8 I had customized the top menu to have the “Sign in / Join” link go to a custom login page rather then the modal pop up. It was easily accessed in the file Newspaper/parts/header/top-menu.php

Now since the update it seems the parts and header folder are completely useless?? There is a file for the header and the login modal but they do nothing if I change the code or even delete the files? Oblivious these directories have nothing to do with the top menu now.

So my question: Where is the top menu code now held in the director structure? where is the “Sign In / Join” link held?

Just fired up Newspaper and everything seems to be working fine, I changed menu items but noticed the menu did not update in the blocks. I went into the editor and updated the menu to the one I tweaked but the changes are not showing up. I am using the TD composer to edit. I am saving after changes. The menu in the header is updated, but none of the block headers menus are taking on the new changes.

Calin,

I have to say I’m totally disappointed in your answer.

I reviewed your GUIDE before posting here and could not find any setting for Footer Template #2.

Unless you updated your guide in the last few hours I can’t find any mention of how to change the popular posts block in Footer Template #2.

If you think I’m wrong then share a link, but if you can’t share a link to the answer then just put me in touch with someone who can help (but for goodness sake don’t reply saying “read the instructions” again without AT LEAST providing a link to the answer)

Or, feel free to admit that the popular posts in Footer Template #2 is broken.

I’ll await your response before submitting my review on ThemeForest.net for the two copies of this theme I have purchased.

I’ve recently installed the newest update. When I go to customize a menu, it crashes before it loads. I have the latest version of Chrome as my default browser and I made sure all related plug-ins are active and up-to-date. Any guidance is appreciated.

Hi Vlad, the problem still persists – the mobile still has white space at top, even though I moved the code to the other area. https://pasteboard.co/InDXq28.jpg

I do not know what you mean by activate it in functions – it is already activated as per screenshot and it doesn’t work as the problem is still there. https://pasteboard.co/InCocUS.png

Also, is there a way on the posting page that it can be darker or bold? SO that visitors notice that it was updated.

Thanks

Vincent

Hi Vlad,

Issue – 1 – mobile header
On the mobile, the problem still persists. It did not change it at all. PLease can you confirm on https://searchgo.co/signature-townhouse-hyde-park/ for example?

Request – 2 – date
I placed the code in the child functions.pho – see screenshot:
It works on the posting page – however, on the homepage, it shows above the images see screenshot: https://pasteboard.co/InCr8n2.png

Also, is there a way on the posting page that it can be darker or bold? SO that visitors notice that it was updated.

Here is the code in child theme functions: https://pasteboard.co/InCocUS.png

Thank you

Vincent

Hello !

In order to have any acces to Newspaper Theme you will have to install and activate the Required plugins as you can see here: https://www.screencast.com/t/bb30E5VD6

Please take a look at our documentation regarding installing and updating the theme and plugins: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Thank you !

That should work fine. I tried that as well, looks alright for me
http://prntscr.com/odze0whttp://prntscr.com/odzeh5

Are you sure you removed the entire script? You could try and remove the whole code from here – http://prntscr.com/odzg5l to here – http://prntscr.com/odzhve

Most of the post templates are located in the composer plugin at the moment
http://prntscr.com/odzijo
In coming updates we will try to add the possibility to customize them same as before, in a child theme. At the moment it is not possible to modify them except directly.

Hi,

Yes, the ” jQuery library version” will be update in coming updates, unfortunately, I cannot say for sure in which update, or when, but this will be update.

Thank you for your understanding!

Hi,

Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.

Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict with untested plugins, please deactivate all non theme plugins and child theme ( if you are using ), clear all cache and try again.

If you want to make a theme update please check our documentation -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/ but this will not fix the problem if you have a plugin conflict or the theme status are to low.

Let me know the results!
Thank you!

Do you maybe use a child theme? There is an issue currently, the post templates don’t apply correctly when the child theme is active. We will fix this issue in the coming theme update. For the time being it would be best to keep it deactivated if possible.

I see the problem with the footer. It should be like this, if the initial language is French set the French page version in the footer. Then translate the footer page field with the plugin’s string translation (should be an equivalent in polylang similar to WPML)
https://polylang.pro/doc/strings-translation/
The string that has to be translated (the one that contains the ID of the page used as footer page) is called “tds_footer_page”. When translating it for English enter the ID of the English page – http://prntscr.com/odxo12 so when the language is changed the footer page will chnage as well.
With WPML it works fine, but I haven’t tried it with polylang.

Hello,

My theme style seems to be acting weird, the front page footer looks okay but not the posts.

You can compare them yourself.

Hi there team:

While doing a Lighthouse test on my site i just got that the jQuery library version used on the theme is not the most updated one, and google recommends using the latest one.

Are you guys planning to update the library in a near future?

Hi,

I’m currently running on Newspaper V9.5 and would like to mention that whenever I click on POSTS > Add a New post. The following code of line occurs and keeps on refreshing.

I’d like to know why this happens, and how should I fix it? Does update the theme would help? If so, how should I update my theme safely, or is there any way your support could do that?

Regards
Vansh

Hi,

1. I could take a look at it. Please post a link to the website where I can see the problem in the sidebar.
There is an issue currently with the menu arrows on mobile responsive, they don’t appear correctly – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/main-menus-sub-menus-arrow-not-visible/
This issue will be permanently fixed in the next update.

2. Here I don’t quite understand the problem. What do you mean by the sidebar does not open? Please post a link to where I can see this issue, and more details if possible.

Let me know.
Thanks
