What is the safest method to update the theme? Previously, the method recommended by TagDiv is to overwrite the theme files via FTP, but now I have come to know that you are not recommended this method anywhere. So, how can I safely update the theme? Should I update the theme via wordpress by deleting the old theme and install the new theme?

Hello,
I am having problem with my website. I have increased all my settings like memory, etc on the PHP. I unplugged every plugin, I have even removed the theme and uploaded it back onto my site.

I keep running into the issue where when I try to go to the theme panel to customize my website it just times out and keeps spinning and never saves.

I am on day 2 of this being an issue and still not able to resolve the issue.

1) Although I updated on the settings, when looking at the system status, it still shows yellow for WP Memory Limit even though I updated it to 256mb. Why would this not be updating? I flushed my cache already.

2) I know it states to make the following false, but I noticed this on the backend, would this possible help this issue I am running into with the theme panel?

Advanced caching plugin. Inactive: Requires define(‘WP_CACHE’, true); in wp-config.php file.

Any insight or assistance would be great.

Hi we have recently updated the newsmag theme to the latest version installed the mobile theme and amp plugin. But the amp is not working? If you visit https://scaffmag/?amp it just times out. We use cloudflare but use the suggested caching plugin wp super cache. Is there some setting I need to implement??

Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks.

Any updates here?

Is it possible to don’t show the username in the URL in the Author box sidebar widget and under posts? I want to show the author Box, but it shows the nickname…. that is good, but when i hover you can see the real username in the URL. That is a security issue.
Any workaround or any fix?
Or just not use the Author box?

Thank you!

Question #3:

Normally, I override a file from another plugin through theme. Example: bbpress
newspaper-child/bbpress/somefile.php

With the 9.7.2 update, how do I go about updating if this is no longer works?

Hello Simion,
I’ve updated my site Newspaper theme to v975 as well as all plugins and WP. Even with all non-Newspaper plugins turned off my website home page layout is jumbled. See original here; Marketwisetrader.com, and development clone, updated version here; //mkdv.meta-morphos.es
The store products page is blank. The post pages seemed to do better.

I built the site page layouts using WPBakery Page Builder. When I view the page layouts with WPBakery selected, the row and collum layouts look correct. When I preview the pages however, image sizing is off, and row/collum, block location is out of order.

How do I correct this?
Thanks,

Prior upgrading to 9.7.2 I modified this file “\newspaper\includes\wp_booster\td_video_support.php” by creating a file on my child theme: “\newspaper-child\include\wp_booster\td_video_support.php” (I modified 2 functions in the file)

AFTER the upgrade to 9.7.2,
“\newspaper\includes\wp_booster\td_video_support.php” NO LONGER EXISTS and
I found it on this legacy file structure: “\plugins\td-composer\legacy\common\wp_booster\td_video_support.php” and
the override changes I have on “\newspaper-child\include\wp_booster\td_video_support.php” STOPPED WORKING.

Question:

1. What needs to be done so that the override codes I created on “\newspaper-child\include\wp_booster\td_video_support.php” would take into effect?

2. Should I overwrite what was in “\plugins\td-composer\legacy\common\wp_booster\td_video_support.php” with whatever is on “\newspaper-child\include\wp_booster\td_video_support.php”? If so, this mean, I’ll have to MANUALLY update whenever Newspaper pushes an update?

Hi all,
In documentation, “Mobile theme” appear down in “theme panel”. I don’t have, even if I have the Mocile theme activated in Plugins.
Normal ? From an update ?
Thank you.

Thanks for your reply.

The only problem with modifying the Plugin is that after an update it will be removed.

Please can I request that in the next update an option to show the modified date when updating a post.

Thanks Simion.

I changed the file in the composer plugin and it works. However, I assume any Plugin updates and it will get removed.

Apart from using the Cloud Header Template, would it be possible to make it a feature in the next update so you can choose 4 or 5 images on mega menu and choose to have subcategory menu or not, in the Theme Panel, rather than hiding it with CSS as is the case at the moment.

Thanks

Hi,

Thank you for the kind words, most appreciated.

1. You can find it in the plugins folder, if you download the full theme package from themeforest – https://www.screencast.com/t/MR4APxAXO
https://forum.tagdiv.com/whats-included/
Once you extract the full package, there will be a plugins folder containing the WPBakery plugin as well – http://prntscr.com/nssgp7
We will provide updates for the plugin when the theme is updated, and updates are available for it – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-visual-composer-plugin/

2. Can’t say if it works or not, we didn’t make any tests with that plugin. The revolution slider provided with the theme works just fine, we include some demo sliders for it as well, these can be imported and used
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-install-revolution-slider-v5/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/import-revolution-sliders-on-demos/
Maybe the author of that plugin provides a demo version of the plugin that you can make tests with. Or maybe they provide a refund in case you can’t use it with the theme.

If you have more questions, let us know.
Thanks

Hi,

Maybe that happened due to the changes made in the theme starting from version 9.7
https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
A notice was added in the themeforest page – http://prntscr.com/nsrvyc
This update is best to be tested in a development copy of the website if possible, instead of the live website.

Many theme files were moved in the tagDiv composer plugin in the update, due to the new Envato requirements. So now the composer is required to be active in order to maintain the same functionality. The files were moved here mostly – http://prntscr.com/nss4s7
As a consequence, modifications to theme files in a child theme is quite limited now, only a few files are still supported.

I can’t say how this would affect an application however, we made no testing in this matter before or after the update.
But for other issues I could take a look, mention what design and functionality problems you are facing after the update. Provide links and details about them, or even screenshots.

The most reported issue is with the single image element when placed with WPBakery and the tagDiv composer is active this will be fixed in the next theme update. The fix is provided in this topic – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/single-image-widget-settings/

Thanks

Hi,

This can be a plugin conflict, please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.

Pleas go in Settings and re-save the permalinks -> https://www.screencast.com/t/QdofmGTW if this is not working, please go in one post and click on update ( or set some content in excerpt ), clear all cache and try again, also please try with some flex blocks!

Thank you!

Hi,

If you want to do the same modification, the file is now in the composer plugin (after update 9.7) – http://prntscr.com/nson1d The limit could be increased there.

Or consider using a cloud header template – https://cloud.tagdiv.com/#/load/Headers
You ca import them or build your own with the cloud library plugin
https://forum.tagdiv.com/tagdiv-cloud-library-plugin/
In this case increasing the limit for the posts in a mega-menu with sub-categories can simply be done with a setting – http://prntscr.com/nsonvr

Some articles about the header builder introduced a while back can be seen here
https://tagdiv.com/newspaper-theme-customize-the-header-manager/
https://tagdiv.com/header-main-menu-newspaper-theme/

Thanks

Hi,

You need to remove the old Td Composer plugin and update it from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/FIqJD3Dq1uP

Most of the theme files were moved into the tagdiv composer plugin as per the requirements of Envato: https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000472383-WordPress-Theme-Requirements.
We wrote an article on the subject here: https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/

Moving forward with such requirements, a child theme will only work with functions.php, and style.css, as there are very few files left in the main theme as Envato, requires all functionality to be added through plugins.

This is a consequence of the recent modifications to the location of theme files, due to Envato requirements. There is an article about it here – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/

Sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for understanding.

Hi,

That will not work anymore with a child theme. After the 9.7 update many of the theme files were moved in the tagDiv composer, due to the new Envato requirements
https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
As a consequence the child theme is quite limited now, only a few theme files can still be used in it.
What you can do is to make those changes in theme files wp-content/plugins/td-composer/legacy/Newspaper/parts/single/single_template_7.php

Thank you!

Hi,

You could modify the weather widget code and give it a try, the file is here
http://prntscr.com/nsobxc
I can’t say I know how some thing like that would be achieved, or if it is possible in the first place. Also the file is in the composer plugin, so after each update the modification will have to be made again.

Maybe consider using a weather plugin that may have such options by default. Some example you could try – https://85ideas.com/plugins/best-wordpress-weather-plugins/
https://code.tutsplus.com/tutorials/7-best-weather-wordpress-widgets-plugins–cms-28813

Thanks
