Hi,
Please, provide your website URL so I can take a closer look at it and also, so I will be able to provide a more accurate response. Also, provide a screenshot with the differences between the two versions of the theme. We recommend to update the theme via FTP way, remove the old theme version and install the new one which comes bundled with the theme core files. Until now, we do not have any bad reports in this case after theme update and also, we cannot recreate this behavior.
Thank you!
Some error messages of any help?
PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function get_header() in /home/4/t/tv-helse/www/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/index.php:6
PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare tdc_on_remove_core_updates() (previously declared in /home/4/t/tv-helse/www/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/includes/tdc_main.php:283) in /home/4/t/tv-helse/www/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/includes/tdc_main.php on line 282
All images are not showing after minor plugin updates. We tried many ways to roll back and so on but the images refuse to show up on the homepage and inside the articles etc. However the images do show in the Media Library. Any clues?
Theme: NewsPaper, version 9.7.2, all plugins are updated.
The problem appeared before updating to 9.7.2.
Hi,
That is correct, there were changes to most of the theme file location after update 9.7, they are now in the tagDiv composer plugin. There is an article about it here
– https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
So now the loop files are here – http://prntscr.com/nqu4yj and only the default post template file remained in the theme – http://prntscr.com/nqu6ke
The ones from the plugin can’t be modified in a child theme same as before, the child theme is now quite limited and only a few files can still be modified in it. So they would have to be modified directly.
What kind of code were you using? maybe there is a different way of doing it.
Thanks
I have updated my memory to 256mb/request and activated my copy of the theme. I still cannot access cloud templates or save anything in the composer
Hi,
This error appears because the theme was not been correctly installed/updated. You need to remove the theme and add it again according to our documentation. First of all, you need to make a full backup to your database and then, you have to remove
your old theme and then add the new theme folder which contains the latest version of the theme. Also, you have not to overwrite because then you will encounter some problems. Check here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Hope this helps and let us know how it goes!
Thank you!
Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience, but please note that was a problem in our theme and this issue will be fixed in future updates. Until this, you will have to remove the following code from the header.php, like this -> https://www.screencast.com/t/676unzuEA6IK
Thank you!
Hi,
After the 9.7 update many of the theme files were moved in the tagDiv composer, due to the new Envato theme requirements. There is an article about it here
– https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
So the child theme is quite limited now when it comes to theme file customization. Only a few files can still be modified in it.
The parts folder is now in the composer plugin, the file you are looking for is in it
– http://prntscr.com/nqtgbg so a child theme won’t be an option anymore to modify this file. Only if you modify it directly in the plugin.
I can’t say if this current functionality will change in the future, remains to be seen. If we will find a viable solution for a safer method to still be able to modify the theme files that were moved, we will present it.
Thanks
Hi,
If you do not made any changes in theme files, then all your settings will not be lost, all the settings made in theme panel or post/pages/templates are save in database, for update please check our documentation for: How to Update the Newspaper Theme for WordPress -> https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
If there is still a problem, you can send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login, as well as cPanel or FTP if possible. We will take a look. Include a link to this topic in the email.
Thank you!
Hi guys,
I checked other webs show their “Last Modified” Date on Google Results. With Newspapers always shows “Date Creation” even when you update the content.
This is bad for CTR and I would like to know how can I change it to show the Last Modified Date instead of Date Creation on Google Results and for all my articles inside the web.
Could you please tell me how can I do this? (maybe a plugin or changing the code of the theme)
Thanks in advance
Hi,
It is always best to try and update the theme, plugins and WordPress as soon as possible, when updates are available.
You can update to the latest version normally, the best way would be by FTP
– https://tagdiv.com/update-newspaper-theme/
The changelog for each version can be seen at the bottom of this page
– https://themeforest.net/item/newspaper/5489609
The 9.7 update consists of some changes to the theme files location, an article about the modifications here – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/
If the website is stable and working, maybe consider for example to create a testing install on a sub-domain if possible, or locally, with a copy of the current website. There are plugins that can duplicate the website, or clone it (like the duplicator plugin). Then update there first, to see the results.
This would be better than trying it on the live website, I believe it is worth considering

Hi,
Depends on what exactly are you referring to, what kind of work. The most important changes after the 9.7 update is that many of the theme files were moved in the tagDiv composer plugin – https://tagdiv.com/updating-the-core-of-tagdiv-themes/ (there are update guides mentioned in the article).
Due to these changes now the tagDiv composer has to be active in order for the theme to function same as before. Also the child theme functionality is now limited to just a few files that remained in the theme folder and can be modified through it. If you have more questions let me know.
Thanks
Hi,
Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
If the problem is still there, please delete( delete the theme plugins too, do not override ) the current version of Newspaper that you have and download again from themefores the newspaper and reinstall it.

Thanks.

You could modify it there is this is required, this would be the only way.

I need to update newspaper 9 theme but I am worried about losing data from my current website.
so how can I update newspaper 9 theme with my existing newspaper theme without affecting my current newspaper theme setup and data.
i followed everything but still can’t update properly.
i keep on getting this error message – The site is experiencing technical difficulties.”
im using a test site, please check and advise on what to do: http://test.hoops.ph/
My website http://www.freiewaehler-fuessen.de is shaking when changing the pages
since I updated the Newspaper Theme to 9.7.2.
Any ideas why? Help!
I know Yoast is a seperate from this theme, but since installing it, none of my pages save or update, i guess this is a caching issue but i’ve followed your guidelines for caching, is Yoast even compatible with the Newspaper Theme?
Any help on resolving this?
I’ve just updated the site to the latest version of Newspaper and I wan’t to make changes to Smart List 6, but I can’t find the file anywhere?
Is this still possible with the new update?
Thanks
The auto update of the tagDiv Composer worked after upgrading to 9.7. Is this okay or do I still need to maunally install the update. It was not clear if the manual install was mandatory.
Also, is there a way to widen the default size or maybe the correct term is theme resolution? It seems like the theme could page edge could be a little wider as compared to other themes. The current deault size looks like it’s for background advertising. If we do not have background advertising can the page edge size be bigger?
Thanks
It increases overnight so my question now is how often does the counter update? thanks
hello, When will you update. Not working… very thanks
Hi
After some time I want to update the theme. I am just realizing, that there seems to be no more various loop-single files but just one, which is much better.
The question now is: In which file do I have to add additional code, which should appear just after a post and before the previous(next article?
Thanks in advance
Cheers
Hansjörg
