Hi,

I installed the Newspaper 9 update this morning and everything worked fine.

I’ve just returned home and logged on and tried to activate the mobile theme plugin and I get this error..

Plugin could not be activated because it triggered a fatal error.

Fatal error: Cannot declare class Mobile_Detect, because the name is already in use in /homepages/45/d744300787/htdocs/clickandbuilds/MoorlandsRadio/wp-content/plugins/td-mobile-plugin/Mobile_Detect.php on line 28

Can you please assist?

Thanks

Hi,

There is a way, add the code directly in the theme stylesheet at the end of the existing code
https://www.screencast.com/t/b7HMffsEPg
Note that after a theme update the stylesheet will be replaced with the new one, so this will have to be done again.

There would be another way, more future proof. If you have a child theme copy the post template file in it
https://www.screencast.com/t/rcHqPOGA
You can modify it there safely, not worrying about losing this modification when updating the theme. A plus with this method in this case, will be that the views will not be loaded entirely instead of hidden. You could give it a try if you want.

If you don’t have a child theme, one is provided in the theme package and you can install it
https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thanks

I always have the latest version of the theme, but I update it through the plug in. So I just click on ”update” and then the theme will be updated.

We cannot say for sure if the Tabbed Content will be or not added to our TD Composer, sorry!
Would be nice if you guys still kinda gave some clearance about this. Doesn’t seem that hard:p

You can try using both plugins installed at the same time but if you will create a page with Visual Composer you should not use TD Composer for that plugin. I have made some tests in this case and it seems to work as expected.

I will try to activate them at the same time and update my website pages with it. Of course NOT create some part with TagDiv and some with Visual Composer. I will contact if it still goes wrong.
This way when you guys have tabbed content on TagDiv I can switch easier to TagDiv instead of only using Visual Composer now.

Could you explain maybe one mor etime why TagDiv is more advises to use on your theme than Visual Composer.

The permalinks on my site as set to day and name e.g wwww.website.com/2018/10/09/news-article which works well for most articles.

However, some articles are regularly updated and if I change the date to show it has new content, the permalink will automatically change, which is not good for SEO.

If I leave the date, then the article will appear old, even though it has new content.

Thank you for the info, I updated the slider and installed the composed and after cleaning the cache it worked perfectly, but another problem has appeared with the facebook block, I have another short code not interpreted, I tried to get the solution on the forums but my code is not exactly the same:

[td_block_social_counter custom_title=”[Text]” facebook=”[Text]” style=”style6 td-social-boxed” facebook_app_id=”[Numeric value]″ facebook_security_key=”[Numeric value]″ facebook_access_token=”[Numeric value]″]
(I have replaced here the actual values by [Text] and [Numeric value] not to expose our data)
Do you have any idea about what’s the problem with this? Thank you again for your support.

Hello imbob,

Ad codes for AMP will have to be entered in the dedicated AMP section, be sure to use the proper codes, for example for Adsense
https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/7183212?hl=en
https://www.screencast.com/t/vc3VzKSIEHTi

AMP will work properly for pages created with the default WordPress editor if you want to use it for pages, not with page builder content. The main purpose of AMP is speed, not loading heavy pages with blocks and grids.

Of course, our plugin is optional, you can use other AMP plugins if needed. We will try however to improve it and add more options for it in future updates. Let me know if you have more questions.

Hope this helps!

Thanks.

Hello carlosn,

It seems to be a problem with the image from your sub-footer which is not added with amp-img. In the near future update, this issue will be resolved but until then, please edit the theme core file and add the following code from here -> https://www.screencast.com/t/jEHSzC7vtI

The code -> echo td_sanitize_image($tds_footer_copyright);

Hope this helps!

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

From what I can see AMP is not activated for your posts. You simply have to install the plugin and activate it, to test add /amp at the end of the URL of a post page. The posts should look like this
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper_crypto/td-post-ripple-ceo-and-ethereum-co-founder-bash-ico-industry/amp/

There is no menu currently for the AMP version, this and the design is inspired by the Yoast SEO website
https://yoast.com/social-media-optimization-with-yoast-seo/amp/
The header logo will be the one you set for mobile in the theme panel
https://www.screencast.com/t/sk3sDiyVW
If the logo is blurry test with a different image format and sizes, until a good result is found.

Ad codes for AMP will have to be entered in the dedicated AMP section, be sure to use the proper codes, for example for Adsense
https://support.google.com/adsense/answer/7183212?hl=en
https://www.screencast.com/t/vc3VzKSIEHTi

Hi,

True that the guide is outdated, some settings were renamed, not so many however. It should be like this for example in the Advanced screen
https://www.screencast.com/t/O4bGofxq
We will try to update the cache guide as soon as possible, sorry for the inconvenience.

Thanks

Hello paperweight,

I guess that here is talking about a simple theme installing. Did you have tried the FTP method to update/install the theme? You should not get any problem in this case if the theme installing has been correctly installed.

Thanks for the message!

Hello elawrenc01,

Before each update, you should make a full backup to your website to avoid losing all of your data. Also, this core file where is made this change cannot be overwritten in Child Theme. Please check our documentation from here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-child-theme-support-tutorial/

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

Is it possible to use the API just by adding it on the functions.php

I wanted to use this API(https://forum.tagdiv.com/td_api_thumbupdate/) but I don’t want to put it into a plugin.

Is there an instruction on how to just put and call it inside functions.php?

td_api_thumb::update(‘td_100x75’,
array(
‘name’ => ‘td_100x75’,
‘width’ => 100,
‘height’ => 75,
‘crop’ => array(‘center’, ‘top’),
‘post_format_icon_size’ => ‘small’,
‘used_on’ => array(
‘Module 6, 7’, ‘Block 1, 2, 7, 8’
)
)
);

Thanks

Hi I’ve been using .single .td-post-views {
display: none;
}
to hide post views. After I updated to newspaper 9 the post views are showing again, how can I fix this?

Hi Simion,

Thanks, we were able to solve the issue.

One last question. We’ve updated the newspaper theme Version: 9.0.1 and we installed a child theme Newspaper 7 Child themeVersion: 7.7c

The child theme is active. The style.css sheet is not loading… tried to add some css but it doesn’t load! Also the code below is from the functions.php located in the child theme;

*/
add_action( ‘wp_enqueue_scripts’, ‘theme_enqueue_styles’, 1001);
function theme_enqueue_styles() {
wp_enqueue_style(‘td-theme’, get_template_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’, ”, TD_THEME_VERSION, ‘all’ );
wp_enqueue_style(‘td-theme-child’, get_stylesheet_directory_uri() . ‘/style.css’, array(‘td-theme’), TD_THEME_VERSION . ‘c’, ‘all’ );

}

How can we make the child theme style sheet load properly ??

Thanks

Hi,

You could try any plugins you find with the required capabilities, make tests with them. We have not made any testing with such plugins so I can’t make any recommendations unfortunately.

If you indeed use Newspaper 4.6.3, than is quite an old theme version. The latest version is 9.0.1 and there will be another update soon.
Such an old theme version may function incorrectly with the latest WordPress and newer plugins and also could be vulnerable.
You should strongly consider to update the theme and theme plugins as soon as possible, here is a guide you can follow
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Also be sure to check the updated theme requirements guide
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

The changelog for each update can be seen in the themeforest theme page (at the bottom)

Dear Catalin,

Thanks for your reply first of all.

The reason I want to switch to TagDiv Composer is because you guys stated that the page builder is specifically build for this theme and it’s better etc. Also that Visual Composer/WP Bakery will not be updated or working well with the theme. Many reasons that I want to switch and I already switched to it on my sub-domain where my shop is on WooCommerce.

It would really help a lot if most of the Visual Composer possibilitys like tabbed content would also be available for TagDiv or atleast stated when this will be added. Could you give any info on when it will be included in TagDiv or if it even will be added ever?

Another thing, I always thought that Visual Composer and TagDiv could nót be activated at the same time? Or is it like you said, only not activate on the same page? I remember updating the theme which would cause to automatically activate the TagDiv plug in and my home page and Agenda page would be fucked up. This will not happen anymore?

Another thing, last day I was searching Google for a tabbed content solution and funny enough I saw a video that showed me how to update Visual Composer/WP BAkery without paying for the plug in. I remember I got the notification to update Visual Composer and every time I clicked on it I had to pay for the plug in. Now I saw this video and found this link and it actually worked lol. I had the very old version of Visual Composer all that time hahaha… Could you also explain this to me please? https://forum.tagdiv.com/update-the-visual-composer-plugin-wpbakery/

Thanks very much!

when i try to update it i get this.

Updating Plugin: tagDiv Composer
The plugin does not have a valid header.

The plugin is at the latest version.

Can i update it manually, and if so is it ok to delete the existing version without screwing anything up?

yeah, the theme status all reports good

Hi,

Ensure that you have updated the theme to the latest version of it via FTP way, clear all the caches and check the results. The option for mega menu should appears here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/mega-menu/

Thanks.

Hello,

Please deactivate and delete all of the theme plugins (the ones starting with TD) and install them again from the latest theme package you download from Envato.
The plugins must be updated as well. I saw that you are using the Mobile Theme. So, please check the Mobile Editor and please remove all the code from there, clear all the caches and check the results.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

Please make update to td Composer, or login to your themeforest.net account and download all files in the downloads section. Then extract the zip file and it should be there.

Please make sure that the theme system status is configured as mentioned in the requirements guide. Please follow the guide carefully
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/

Thank you for your understanding.

Hi,

Sorry for your experience so far, we do try to add only popular requests or essential settings in each update. I will try to help you with the questions you have and problems you are facing.

Indeed a 300x300px thumbnail size does not exist. You could use flex blocks and manipulate the image to have the dimensions you require (it won’t be an actual thumbnail)
https://www.screencast.com/t/seukwC9Y
Flex blocks can be customized to look in many ways, this is an example using flex block 1
https://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/flex-block/

The theme received quite a few multi-purpose options a while back, we created some demos to showcase these multi-purpose capabilities. You can sort the demos here
https://demo.tagdiv.com/select_demo/select_demo_newspaper

The front page can either be the default WordPress blog, or a static page designed with our tagDiv composer
https://forum.tagdiv.com/homepage-how-to-build-and-set-it/
The static page will allow you to have more control over the content the homepage displayed.
Blocks, grids etc, can be sorted+filtered and many other settings
https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/

Please let me know if you have more questions.
Thanks
