Our web host has verified that this issue is the same as the previous issue I had with the last update. “[William Wa.] Ok it looks like the issue was coming from the plugin: td-composer”.

I just completed the newest update to the newspaper theme 8.7. Both this update the one previously have crashed my site to the point that I can’t even access the wordpress dashboard. I have had to contact our web host provider to troubleshoot and deactivate enough stuff that I can get in and do a restore.

I have done at least 4 update previously using the Filezilla method and never had a problem.

Is anyone else having this problem? Why are these updates crashing my site, if I can get it back online, I will not we 2 updates behind but I refuse to try updating again if it will just keep crashing my site.

My web host provider has said that it has something to do with one of the Tag plug-ins crashing.

Here is there error I currently see when I try to load my homepage.

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined method td_config_helper::get_map_block_shadow_array() in /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/includes/tdc_map.php:662 Stack trace: #0 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/includes/tdc_main.php(32): require_once() #1 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/td-composer.php(35): require_once(‘/home/childs18/…’) #2 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(286): tdc_plugin_init(”) #3 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-includes/class-wp-hook.php(310): WP_Hook->apply_filters(”, Array) #4 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-includes/plugin.php(453): WP_Hook->do_action(Array) #5 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/includes/wp_booster/td_wp_booster_functions.php(207): do_action(‘td_wp_booster_l…’) #6 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/functions.php(23): require_once(‘/home/childs18/…’) #7 /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-settings.php in /home/childs18/childsworld.news/wp-content/plugins/td-composer/includes/tdc_map.php on line 662

Indeed this law is somewhat cumbersome, but it is meant to protect user privacy. We will make some theme modifications based on the recent WordPress update. It is important to know the theme will not collect any user data.

You will have to analyze your website and see what data you are collecting from website users/visitors. A plugin would be necessary, you could use this one for example

Hi,

Unfortunately our AMP plugin does not have a custom CSS panel at this moment. So you would have to enter the code directly in the plugin files. Which is not a good solution because if the plugin receives an update the entered code will be lost.

We will try to add more features to the AMP plugin in the future, so a custom code options may be implemented.

If you want to edit the plugin and add code in it, this would be a similar topic
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/custom-css-in-amp-posts/

WordPress is developing the new Gutenberg editor which will be available in the future
https://wordpress.org/gutenberg/
https://testgutenberg.com/
We do not have any plans to develop a new editor, at least I am not aware of such plans.

Thanks

After the theme update will I still need a seperate GDPR plugin to control GDPR for my website? What plugin is recommended?

This GDPR law is a disaster!

There is no estimate I can provide at this time unfortunately. As soon as all the tasks are completed and tested the update will be released. It should not be long now.

Hi Bogdan,
You surely know that the deadline is the 25th.
I implemented a plugin to test before upgrading with the coming theme-update and all the ads disappeared… So It would be great if we could the upgrade BEFORE the 25th.
Perseverance and keep forward !

Simion, there is no zoom (I double checked).
It’s a bug since your last theme update.
Never happened before.
Now it happens on HD screens and on Chrome only.
Do you plan to fix this major bug in the next update?

Hi,

@stijnleblansch
So the composer worked before and now it will not function correctly. It would be important that you use the latest theme version (8.7.4) and also latest plugin versions (the tagDiv composer is now 2.3). Your website seems to be redirecting here
https://fruittr.com/
There were many improvements made in the theme and also the composer over the last few updates.

First try to use the composer on a new page, to see if it is something specific to one or a few pages, or something more general.

Most important are the allocated resources. These can be seen in the theme system status panel
https://forum.tagdiv.com/requirements-for-newspaper/
If those parameters are not set according to the requirements, there could be problems. If possible and if needed increase them, or contact the hosting to increase them. Then check if the problem is solved.

In quite a few cases the solutions from these topics worked for blank pages and other composer loading problems, you could give them a try if possible
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/gray-page-tagdiv/
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/javascript-error-td-composer-wont-load/

Thanks

hi, I recently updated my website with your theme and I noticed a slowdown in performance. The site continues to load as if there were some background process that fails to load. On the homepage, for example in the slider images just below the featured images, the first img load and the rest remains empty or it load after 3 min.

Can you tell me what’s wrong with the site? The plugins installed are those suggested by you plus 2 extra (which do not affect the upload because trying to disable it does not change anything).

I could not install WP Super Cache because it says “not supported”. And the only warning I see in system status is this Speed Booster v4.9.3 – Disabled – incompatible plugin detected: akismet / akismet.php
I also have the jetpack plugin (by default) and disabled lazy load and other stuff.
Also Regenerated Thumbnails.

Tried to follow your guide for a faster website but I can not understand much …

I think this started several weeks ago after I preformed the last Newsmag update, but my “[tagDiv] Instagram” widget now displays nothing.

I tried setting it to a different Instagram channel, and it seems to work. But for some reason my Instagram channel (https://instagram.com/touringplans) will not show.

My blog is at https://blog.touringplans.com. The widget is in the bottom center part of the footer.

The theme files will be replaced. So you could either make a backup of the file and replace the new theme file after then update (be sure to check the changelog before, that file could be modified in the update) or modify it in a child theme. The child theme supports all module files

Hi,

I know you told me you’re aware of the problems with images and that it will be fixed on the next update. But still, I’d like to let you know that I also have huge problems with my Amazon ads on Chrome browser since the last update. For example: https://www.coupdepoker.com/culture-poker/idee-cadeau-joueur-poker/

Hope it’ll be quickly fixed.
Thanks

Hello,

We did not yet release a new theme update for the GDPR implementation. We will release it as soon as possible.

Hi,

You will have to edit a theme file in order to change those headings, this is a similar topic
https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/h3-h1-tags/
Note that the modifications made there will affect all the modules at once.

Options to select specific headings for individual elements may be added in future updates.

Thanks

So you want the post tags to appear there. That is not possible at the moment. In the coming theme updates there will be options to position the post elements differently in the post page. So for example placing the post tags below the post title will be an easy task.

If you want to do that now, you will have to make modifications to the post template file and maybe some additional CSS. These are some similar topics

Hello nitewriter07,

If you want to have the latest version of the theme, you should download again the theme packet from Envato Market because there you will find the latest version of the theme. After this, install it via FTP way, clear all the caches and check the results. Check the plugins to be updated to the latest version of them.

Thanks for your understanding!

Hi,

There was a flickering issue that happened in the Chrome browser, when editing with the tagDiv composer. We fixed it however in our latest theme version
https://www.screencast.com/t/qJeIyD5LwV
So you should update the theme and theme plugins if possible, there will be no more problems
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

Thanks
