Hello, trying to fix the FOOTER and the footer’s translations but it’s not working.
1) Footer’s “Editor Picks” is not displaying any blogs.
2) “Editor Picks” needs to be changed to “Featured” but in Translations, it’s not displaying the change even after I saved settings.
3) “Popular Category” needs to be changed to “Top Categories” but in Translations, it’s not displaying the change even after I saved settings.
Hi,
Some footer templates have predefined content, this content can’t be edited
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/how-to-modify-the-elements-of-a-footer-template/
1. The editor picks is a block sorted by featured, so if there are no posts in the featured category, it will be empty – https://forum.tagdiv.com/featured-posts-2/
2. Seems to work fine – http://prntscr.com/nzxzub Maybe try to clear the cache, and force refresh the page where you are checking in (Ctrl+Shift+R).
3. Works on my end – http://prntscr.com/nzy11t As long as the theme panel saves the setting it should appear in the website.
As a note, if the WPML plugin is active, the theme panel translations will not work
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/using-theme-translations-together-wpml/
Some helpful topics here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/wpml-footer-and-block-translations/
– https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/footer-translate/
You can set widgets to display by language, instead of translating them. You can even set footer pages that will switch when the language is changed

Thanks
Hi Simion,
In that case, it seems that the footer translations isn’t working bc of my WPML plugin.
The links you sent to me seem a bit technical. Is there any way you can go in and help me with this?
Hi,
It isn’t difficult, depends on what you want to from the above. One way is to use widgets per language. WPML will add an option to them where you can set this.
So for example begin with a empty footer template. In the footer columns add the widgets you want for one language – http://prntscr.com/o0aqay then add others for a different language – http://prntscr.com/o0aqv2
In my example They will appear depending on the language, the first one will appear when the language is English, and the second one when the language is French
– http://prntscr.com/o0asxf – http://prntscr.com/o0atcz
If you have more questions let me know.
Will this work when I want to replace the names to the current template’s footer? Or will this method only work when creating a whole new footer?
1) “Editor Picks” needs to be changed to “Featured” but in Translations, it’s not displaying the change even after I saved settings.
2) “Popular Category” needs to be changed to “Top Categories” but in Translations, it’s not displaying the change even after I saved settings.
If you just want to translate the title of those elements, it can be done. Access the WPML string translation settings – http://prntscr.com/o0hcn0 then locate the footer titles
– http://prntscr.com/o0hd0g and add translations to them. They will chnage when the language is changed.
Excellent! This worked thanks so much!!
Last question, for my Footer under “FEATURE”, I notice it also shows blogs that don’t contain the “Feature” category. So currently, this blog is showing in my Footer under “FEATURE”: https://blog.tryandreview.com/2019/06/10/11-instagram-hacks-of-2019-you-need-to-know-to-stay-on-top-of-your-game/
I used a Block 7 widget for “Footer 1”. Is this not correct?
Glad it worked. From what I can see you maybe deleted the featured category
– https://blog.tryandreview.com/category/featured/
If that is the case, the block will switch to the default sorting, which is by latest. That way the block won’t be empty and have posts to display.
If you want to recreate the featured category you can you can do it like this
– https://www.screencast.com/t/Y2QPRE7xeX
It should function same as before after creating it.
Hi Simion,
You probably are right because in my default page, the “FEATURED” category’s slug is: feautured-sg.
I’ve adjusted this but its still not working for me! See link for screenshot: http://i65.tinypic.com/2qxm3x2.png
Here’s another link if the above does not work: https://blog.tryandreview.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/06/Categories-Featured.png
I just viewed blog.tryandreview.com on a different computer but the Footer 1 is still displaying other blogs other than FEATURED.
Hi,
Please set a footer template as style 5 and set a new blocks in footer 1/2/3 ans filter theme after your needs.
Footer templates -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/footer-templates/
Block settings guide for filters -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/block-settings-guide/
Thank you!
Hi Cain, unfortunately this doesn’t solve the problem that Block 7 is still displaying blog posts other than FEATURED posts.
Hi,
I think that you are using footer stile 1 and you only change the title on block 7 to FEATURED please select footer style 5, save the settings and go in Appearance>Widgets set in each footer the block you need and sort/filter the posts -> https://www.screencast.com/t/BicKUUbWEK -> https://www.screencast.com/t/6kveP1yzWSs -> https://www.screencast.com/t/KXfs7sSXCMAY do the same with Footer 2 and 3.
Thank you!
Thanks so much Cain! I can’t have a section for “TOP CATEGORIES” or “TOP POSTS”, but this works fine. 🙂
Since we’re on the topic about the Footer, I can’t get the translation in WPML String Translation to work. I translated the “ABOUT US” in the footer for Vietnamese but the changes are not applied.
Hi,
Please check this topic about Translation of Footer Pager -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/translation-of-footer-pager-does-not-work/
Thank you!
Hi Calin,
Above, I ran into the issue of not being able to get my footer’s About Us and Instagram username translated. Right now, it is in English: “Leveraging our public online database of honest consumer reviews, Try and Review enables consumers to unleash the full potential of their buying options through our website and blog.”
But I want the VI (Vietnam) page to show Vietnamese: http://i66.tinypic.com/311vswo.png
I have tried to add these new string translations so I can translate them for different countries:
1) tds_footer_page
2) tds_footer_instagram_id
I followed the instructions on this screenshot and hit “apply” https://www.screencast.com/t/EVkk4g23yAv. A message pops up saying I can find these strings and translate them but when I go to String Translation, I can not find these strings.
Also, what are the next steps after I find the strings? Add the ID? Where do I get the ID of my “ABOUT US”?
Hi,
This is not working because you are not translating the right part of footer, you do not have a footer page, you are using a default footer style, please try the below steps
http://prntscr.com/o8v4eg -> http://prntscr.com/o8v4mo -> http://prntscr.com/o8v4tq
Also make sure that the max_input_vars is enough, this mast be over 10000
Thank you!
Thanks Calin, this is the issue. We’ve asked our devs to increase to over 10000
Calin,
For the Footer’s widgets, how can I translate the titles? I tried translating using String Translation but its not working for me. See https://blog.tryandreview.com/vi for an example.

Hi,
Please try the steps from this similar topic -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/wpml-footer-and-block-translations/
Hope this will help you!
Thank you!
Hi Calin, we have the max vars set to 10000. I still can’t figure out how to change the TAGDIV BLOCK 7 widget titles, “FEATURED”, “POPULAR POSTS”, “INFLUENCER ACADEMY”: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Qc6TkR2kVM4k-ANDfmTZAx8k7ZC1Xwl1/view?usp=sharing
I have followed the steps above:
