Hi Calin,

I of course have set captions to our featured images. The thing is, that they not show up on some post styles. Only on default one, style 1 and style 2. All other post styles hiding the caption. Which means, that we would have to edit nearly 2000 posts to change the post styles, if we dont find a solution for this …

I of course do understand, that running processes need to be done. But the thing with custom work – is a long requested discussion on this board. So I also understand, that it’s simply not a wanted part of TagDiv. As other companies are always able to do custom work – just because it’s good money for them – the can be sure, that no nonsense will be done with their themes, and they are having a good payed testdrive for future implementations, which they even got payed for … It’s a kind of a internal political question.

So I will need to hire a freelancer to do this for us. But it’s not what I wanted. For example the Soledad-Team had rebuilt a festure, which I missed from your theme. They have got about 350 dollars from us for this. The next theme update included this feature. Just because it was there – and it was good …

They simply were not able to build homepage blocks from tags – they only used posts. That was a long awaitd feature for the community.

However: I sure do understand, that there is a current timezone in which it is not possible to do sch things. But I do not understand, why this is the case for years now. The newspaper theme is one of the most complex theme on the themeforest market. So I am not willing to believe, that a company, who built such a complex theme, would not be able to fulfill a request within a few weeks, where a freelancer can do this job within a few days …

We have chosen this theme (again) as it’s maybe the most professional designed piece of code on the market. As we are not a blog, but a good running (growing) online magazine, it’s most important for us to stay flexible and open minded – but all this within a stable theme-solution.

and thank you for your fast answer to my question. This indeed is bad news for us. This theme nearly perfectly fits our needs – unless this one (most important) thing. The ability of monetizing a site through pre-roll video ads is the most important option for the future. Even for a magazine or newspaper site.

We of course are able to insert videos into posts and pages with the newspaper theme. But it just doesn’t look that sexy, when not able to fit it into the right places – and not able to see those posts in video playlists – and all that stuff!

There must be a workaround to make this possible. I am not a coder – so I would not be able to do this. Of course I could ask for a freelancer to make this possible for us. But I think, that this could harm other functions, if it’s not done by the original team. And as I think, that this would be a groundbreaking feature for the whole TagDiv-Community – why not just asking for it here?

The thing is, that I really (to be honest) went away one year ago – to another theme creator – just for having these features. So I had this feature – but the rest was crap. So I came back one week ago – the rest is fine again – but most of our videos are gone. This is a real nightmare for us. A lot of work to do, to fill them manually back in – into the content.

But this cannot be the final solution. I don’t want another theme, and I don’t want to install dozens of plugins, to make one quite simple thing running as it should …

Of course the TagDiv-Team does not have to do this for free …

thank you very much for this explanation! As I wrote before – I am not really a Tech-Pro – just a user who was searching for a pretty easy way to make a brilliant looking WordPress Magazine… So your few sentences really helped me out.

Sorry for saying this: These few words also could have come from the Tagdiv Stuff. Not just a usual phrase, which I have read a few hundrets of times here …

I am not really into the php topic. But I will try to find some material on it.

Hello Jessica,

i think this is a prefilled Adform, which could be easily removed through the Theme-Panel.
Just click on NEWSMAG – go to the theme panel – and the go to the section ADS.

There you will have to find the ADSPOT which is prefilled. It sounds like you will find it either in the ARTICLE BOTTO AD SPOT or in the FOOTER TOP SPOT.

Just delete the inserted code and hit SAVE …

That’s it! 🙂

in case we misunderstand each other (maybe because of a language barrier – as my english is not quite perfect):

Automattic (who is – as I understand is – the company behind WordPress) plans to make the Gutenberg Editor (which right now is a plugin) to the official new core edidor for wordepress. So that means, that there will be no other editor left. It will be the one, which is the editor for millions of wordpress users.

As fas as I understand the conversation on the internet, they originally planned this step for WordPress 5.0. But there are some technical things related to licences – so maybe it will last a bit longer …

So (maybe) already from WordPress 5.0 on – there will be dozens of significant changes in wordpress, which (for sure) forces all developers of plugins and themes to completely rewrite their products, for staying compatible with actual WordPress versions. And I am not saying – with a plugin – I am saying with WordPress …

So if your answer still is, that you are not planning to implement it – the I have to understand, that you will stop developing themes for WordPress greater than version 5.0?
This would be very sad news for us all – but still a fair statement, if this is an official hint right now …

thank you for your reply. But as I understand the discussion within the “wordpress world”, it is planned to insert the Gutenberg-Plugin into the wordpress core. It is – by now – planned to implement it as the core-editor for wordpress 5.0.

So wouldn’t it be absolutely necessary to ensure, that all of your wordpress-themes are absolutely future-compatible with the future of wordpress?

Or do you think, that these core-implementations are only rumours?

The thing is – if I understood this correctly, that things like text-padding, dropcaps, quote-boxes (and so on) would not work anymore like today. I understand that the new editor should completely work with java. All the meta boxes (and the plugins which of course use it today) would be dead.

Wouldn’t this mean, that also built in components (build into the todays wordoress editor)of the newsmag theme would disappear? If this is the case, then nearly 95% of my magazine articles would be broken. At least all those nice styling elements, which I used from within the themes tools … (?)

This is the official description fro Gutenberg as a plugin (right now). But this plugin is meant to be hardcoded into the core of wordpress. And as YOAST writes in his post (https://yoast.com/gutenberg-alternative-approach/)it should totally kill the existing wordpress editor – and become the “new one”.

This would be more than hard word for any plugin and theme developer. Especially when you take a look into the timeline, when this editor shall be released. For me this sounds like a kind of nightmare …

I must admit, that I love the idea of the tagdiv composer! And I’m absolutely sure, that you spent months of hard work to get it live … This is – of course awesome!

But I think, that there must be a chance of a 100 % compatibilty for existing content. Or lets say 95 % … Staying fair 😉 …

As the visual composter – in it’s idea is not just meant as a pagebuilder – and a lot ouf us have it in hevy use for postings – I was pretty sure, that you have thought of this.

I will be very happy – if I would be able to uninstall this “monster of code” someday … But I need to clarify how to – not destroy – my very important content wihin our posts.

Just to inform the rest of the community:

My problem has been solved. With the help of a custom css tweak all ads are showing up right now as they should.

The theme was not able to target the adcode in the correct way. But with this cute little css-snippet it works fine.

After trying a lot. I am a bit wiser. But the problem has not solved completely.

I have deactivated a lot of plugins. Reinstalled wordpress – did a complete reset of the database – and so on.

However: When viewing the site with Edge (browser) everything is fine. But when viewing it with chrome, the ads are still looking wrong.

Then there must be some java or css (maybe of a plugin) which makes problems. I don’t know. Everything was fine so far, and then a few months ago, it started to do these strange things. Just a few – and then it got much more often until now …

Maybe I will try to reinstall wordpress over the site.

Right now i am having the second adcode within a wordpress text-widget. it’s the first on the right sidebar.
The first adcode (or one which is similar to it) is running as second ad on the right sidebar.

However the second adbox does not have this issue as often as the first adspace on the sidebar.

This adcode produces a strange white space under itself:
