That would do but I can’t see anything like Flex grid 4 on the menu.
Similar problem here. Not that I cannot scroll but scrolling with mouse wheel is not accurate as scrolling by dragging the scrollbar up and down. Also navigation is much faster with scrollbars. In such a powerful tool s TD composer a scrollbar is a must in my opinion. Today I again thought of designing our home page with TD composer but this missing feature disappointed me. It would be very helpful if a scroll bar is added to TD composer menu/elements window.
Hey that sounds great! I just checked and the posts that weren’t showing images now show them. Thanks Simion.
FYI, I found the same issue is there when I use WordPress’ built-in Share feature also. I wonder where the issue is coming from. It started recently only and only with new posts. Old posts get shared fine.
Let me clarify what I am doing. For a trial, I have installed Newspaper 8.7 on a fresh WordPress where there is no VC installed. Only TD composer. I imported blogs from our online website which also uses Newspaper but with VC. I am not using TD as yet on the online website.
When I try to create a trial home page on the fresh WordPress installation using TD as mentioned above, the images are displayed differently as shown in my first post on this thread. That is the issue.
I am afraid of trying to regenerate images in case it destroys what we have online which works without any problem. The whole point is about switching to TD composer safely without losing what we have. Hope I am clearer now.
Nope. I am checking it on a separate, fresh wordpress installation. VC is not even installed there nor any other image related plugins. Only tagDiv plugins and a couple of essential ones, WordPress importer and Akismet.
Thank you Bogdan. Could you tell me a little more?
Run the regen plugin after switching to TD or before? Running the regen plugin sounds pretty risky…I am thinking what if it changes even the existing image sizes which are just fine with VC but shows issues only when I use TD. What confuses me is, if the problem is at my end AND if both the plugin (VC and TD) blocks work the same way so far images are concern, then why all is fine with VC at the moment but changes when I use TD with identical blocks?

Correction: pl let me know if there is any workaround (not word around:-))
Update for whoever following this thread.. I found it’s NOT a facebook issue. The likes are not gone because Jetpack plugin still shows old numbers. Anyway, for the time being I have disabled the Likes option in the Theme panel.
Hello, Catalin, the facebook likes of Posts do seem to have some issues. My posts (I am NOT talking of page likes) used show to 100s and some posts thousands of likes but they are becoming 0 for some reason.. I just cannot figure out what’s going on.. whether the issue is with fb or with the theme.. what I can see is many many posts have lost all their fb likes and turned to 0. Would appreciate your input. I suspect there may be fb linking issue with the social counter plugin. Meanwhile will try disabling other plugins but they were there before also..unless one of the upgrades messed it up. Let me know if you already have an answer. I am using Newpaper 8.1 with latest plugins and wordpress. Thanks.
Fair enough, Bogdan. You got to move on your own not depending on VC, a third party plugin, although it served a great purpose at a different time. VC is no doubt a great plugin but if you have to play at its tune then it’s obviously not the best option for Newspaper theme. So I understand your move. I sincerely hope the td composer will soon become popular among Newspaper users.
A suggestion that could save you lots of hassle- do not install td composer along with the theme upgrade. Let users understand what it is, how it works, and decide on their own when to or whether to install it. What happens now is, it is installed by default and by nature overpowers VC, and that seems to be causing issues. This, of course, only if it is technically feasible considering you may have written the theme codes keeping tdc in mind and may need it to be installed while upgrading. Just a thought… Have a good day!
I trust tagdiv team and there is no doubt that Newspaper is in fact the best theme available in many ways. I also believe that td composer is a great addition and will be very helpful in the long tun. However, I feel compelled to say that starting version 8, this forum has seen many users reporting issues, caused apparently due to td composer (some issues obviously due to improper installation procedures). In any case, knowing the nature of any such major update, I skipped updating 8 and waited for 8.1.
Updating did not cause any major issue in my case although it did wipe out all my sidebar widgets. I had to spend some time to make them work again. To those who have not yet updated to 8 or 8.1, I would suggest note down all your settings like widgets and stuff before upgrading.
The other thing I faced is, my social counters stopped working on facebook although I upgraded the social counter plugin also. I deleted cache, etc. but it didn’t work. My Post fb likes had started disappearing before I upgraded to 8.1 so I wouldn’t count the upgrade responsible for it but after upgrading, my fb Page likes also became 0. In order to verify the issue was not with facebook, I used Jetpack facebook Likes plugin and my Page likes came back. So I suspect there is some issue with the plugin, either tdc or social counter that caused the Page Likes to become 0. This forced me to deactivate tdc although it did not solve the problem then. I must add that after some time when I tried with another computer, the fb Likes reappeared even using td social counter, so the issue may have been caused by some traces of cache or whatever on the first computer but the main point to be noted is, the Page likes did disappear. Hope that can be looked into. For the time being I have switched to Jetpack fb counter but hope to switch back to td social counter soon. I guess I will wait for the next tdc update. I am wiring all this with the hope that it will help users and developers resolve whatever issues may be there.

Thanks. Finally I upgraded from 7.8.1 to 8.1 today. Looks like our Facebook likes have gone for good. Doesn’t look like a theme issue. Perhaps something to do with facebook. I noted the Like count restarting from 0 on some other post/s also. Whatever the reason, it’s completely crazy. Anyway…just wanted to update you (one thing I noted is, the theme image on WordPress dashboard still shows Newspaper7 instead of 8).
BTW, the upgrade did wipe out my widget settings on Home and Post pages but it wasn’t that of a big deal. I could get them up again quickly. Yet to implement td composer. Hopefully it will work seamlessly. Keep up the good work, friends!

Fair enough. Thank you, Bogdan.
Glad to now the issue is resolved. Appreciate the detail you provided. Good to know. Thanks.
Not sure about your specific issue but in the past I had an issue with another plugin and the support guy gave up. I turned to the host and he found out a crazy security plugin had altered my .htaccess file and did NOT reverse it to the original after I deactivated and deleted that plugin. Thoughtless authoring! So although you disabled or deleted plugins, one or more of them may have left some permanent changes on your core files. Just a thought…
Got it. Yes, I never used VC for posts so far I remember.
My specific question is, is there any issue if I, for the time being, NOT use td composer and still keep upgrading the theme version and use VC as usual? In other words, is Newspaper’s compatibility with VC still and will be taken care of?
Thanks.
I get what Chris says and also think that a lightweight decent way of loading more posts from a chosen category / filter (not just the next post) would be a good idea. However, I would first request TagDiv to resolve some existing issues that I have been reading after launching td composer. As a principle, it is good to have an issue-free theme than a buggy, feature loaded theme. Newspapers has enough features and has done excellent in the past. In order to continue with the tradition they need to focus on excellence more than abundance. Having said this, I certainly would like to have the auto load more posts feature in the theme but not at the cost of excellence in what it has. Hope I am clear. Thanks all.
Thanks Simion. I wanted to do something more than just Related articles.
Do you mean to say the manual codes entered in Theme Panel’s Custom Code section will not work if I upgrade to Version 8? Or only if I switch to TagDiv composer?
How is the experience of users who upgraded to version 8 but didn’t switch to TD composer? By policy I am in no hurry to upgrade but would appreciate inputs.
As Bogdon said, it’s not a file but a bunch of codes placed by VC plugin on the home page based on my design. You may not be using what I did. But if you suspect similar issue in your case then what you could do is create a copy of your home page, remove some elements (blocks) one after another and check the page speed of that newly created copy of the home page (Google pagespeed looks at page, not the whole website). If you find that removing a particular element increases the speed, you may want to remove it from your original home page and it might help. In our case I guess I can still fine tune more and get a better score but I am satisfied with 88/81 for Desktop/Mobile. https://gyazo.com/567702203d4cf47719c560e699c3d19c And this is without Cloud flare. Hope this helps.
Check out my last comment on the same thread. It might help. Mayapur Voice is back in green.
Hello Catalin, thanks for taking time to inspect the site. I am glad to let you know that I have already located the issue and solved the problem. http://mayapurvoice is back in green at 87 points and the result looks beautiful 🙂
My guess is, the Visual Composer plugin update that came with Newspaper 7.6.1 or earlier (after 7.5) caused the problem. I upgraded from 7.5 so it could be even earlier update of the plugin that I did not use. The reason I suggest this is, after trying so many different things finally the speed went up considerably only when I removed one VC element (Post grid with 4 posts showing some animation effects) from the page. This element was there since long when the page speed was in green. I suspect that something in the updated VC plugin might be causing the issue. As soon I removed that element my page speed went up. So I think it was not Newspaper theme but the upgraded version of VC plugin that had caused our page speed to drop. If you have some other insight I would like to know. I will also keep in mind what you suggested above. Thanks again.
Hello Amit, thanks for the suggestion. I posted a comment/question on your blog.
Thanks Alin for the comment. Note that I upgraded from 7.5 to 7.6.1 so there may be some other reasons.
But there are chances that some third party plugin update may have caused the problem and I may not have noted it immediately after updating that plugin. I am observing the result by tweaking different things and if nothing helps, I will contact you at the email address you provided. Thanks again. BTW, the URL is http://mayapurvoice.com/svagatam
Sorry but I am little confused by seeing this thread. I am using 7.4 but thinking to upgrade to 7.6.1 from 7.4. Do I need to download patch files and all that or just follow what I have been doing every time, i.e. delete the old theme files and copy the new ones? Pl clarify. Thanks.
