I just encountered the same thing on a brand new site. Installed some cloud templates, then deleted some and suddenly the editor has become so narrow it’s unusable. Help!

I tried downloading the Podcasts footer and removing everything except the subfooter, so it matches the detfault subfooter. However, the background color stretches all the way across the screen on the desktop viewport, unlike the default footer (even though in Composer it looks like it is contained).

Is there a way to fix that so the subfooter background color stays in within the body container width?

Can you show me where to set the Strech Row setting? I’ve tried everything, but the header will not fit the body on the desktop viewport as it did with the old Header Style 6 did.

For the header background color – what I mean is that the background color of the (set by clicking on Row > CSS > Background) expands past the body container, as shown in your example above. I previously used the Header Style 6 where the gray background of the site went all the way to the top of the page on all viewports. Right now the desktop view has the background color expanding past the body container.

For the logo – it’s an image. In my current site, using Header Style 6, the logo is smaller than using Cloud Template 6 for some reason (and looks better with more white space around it). Is there any way to resize an image logo so it stays centered?

If you’re not using the Standard Pack and don’t need a large footer, so you don’t have a Footer page, how do you edit the Newspaper copyright, etc.?

Another couple questions…

How do I get the header to align to the body container? Right now the background stretches past the body container (unlike when I was using the non-cloud version)?

Ok, I figured it out.

I removed the logo from the Theme panel Header > Logo and Retina Logo. Flushed the cache. Then went to the homepage, edited with TD Composer, clicked on the logo there and removed both versions within TD composer. Flushed the cache. Then added logos back under the Theme Panel. Then error resolved.

What a mess – hope they fix that!

Also, be sure there is no text logo or description in the theme panel, otherwise your graphical logo won’t appear (a bug?).

I’ve tried deactivating all plugins, same issue. Perhaps CSS? Seems like it could be related to the image size ratio (but guessing at this point).

Do you have a list of compatible WordPress Image Compression plugins?

The popular ones are Smush, EWWW, Imagify, and ShortPixel.

OK, updated to 10.1 and seems to have fixed it now. I’m using ShortPixel to compress images and convert to WebP. Perhaps there was an issue with WebP in version 9?

So then how are the default fonts set site-wide? Won’t certain Cloud Templates affect site-wide settings?

I’m familiar with all those tutorials – they are for older version. I’ve been using Newspaper for a long while now. What I’m asking for is a simple start-from-stratch walkthrough with v10 to set up a simple site without having to rely on loading a demo first.

Seems like a lot of people would benefit from that, especially new customers who are likely confused at this point with all the various ways to set the theme up.

Thanks, but that’s not the point. The point is to create a site from 0 with a simple example checklist. In the past I created a setup checklist for Newspaper that looked like this:

1. Install Newspaper
2. Install X Plug-Ins (e.g. TD Composer)
3. Go Theme Menu
4. Select Header (e.g. Style 7)
5. Upload your logo and favicon
.. etc.

Would be great if you could walk people through creating a simple site without having to rely on a pre-canned demo. Either a blog post or quick video would be super helpful.
