I’ve used the following settings:
– Post ID filter: -145
– Multiple categories filter: 38,11647,11650,11646,11649,11648
– Show the following IDs: 38,11647,11650,11646,11649,11648
– Sort order: latest
– Filter type: Filter by categories

What I have done is merge several categories into new categories, and used those new categories on the page. Before I didn’t have that problem.

Hi Bogdan, sorry for the late response. What I want to do is add an image to it. If I modify 404.php, will that not be overwritten by a new version of Newspaper?

The settings you showed I have used in the theme.

I think I found it. I made a sidebar for my page template. Placed that where I want it, which is under the content column, and then added a short code to make the calender work.

Yesterday I went to see what the problem is. First problem are the links. That really doesn’t work for him. I tried two different ways to add a link to a text, neither worked. I’m using the latest Dutch version of WordPress. I can’t update, because there is no update.

He suggested that the permalinks might be full. All links are somehow (no idea how that works, but I did see a loooooooong list of used links to choose from) in the memory.

He is using an Ipad. i’m using a laptop, and rarely use a tablet, so I’m out of my debt here. Would it help if I use a different editor than TinyMCE? If so, which one do you recommend?

The other problem is more pressing: when he wants to moderate comments, he can’t. When he wants to work on a comment, a screen shows up “Hola! Would you like to receive automatic….” clicking ‘hide this message doesn’t hide that message.

I have no such problems at all. But then, I don’t work on a tablet.

thanks for the offer. I can only say … “diddums!” … after solving it, it was so easy.
I had to turn on the Unique Articles in the Page Template Settings. Completely overlooked that one. Drove me nuts.

= I’m not sure exactly what is going on with your block settings but you should start from the top. Make sure each post is in it’s proper category and check the category parents from the category section of wordpress.

Unfortunately you are the one that has to investigate as we have no idea of how the site/blocks were set before the ‘gnomes’ came in.

Okay. Here are the settings for Featured:
Big Grid 7, Post ID filter: blank, Category filter: Featured [id: 145]

Now the first block (the others are the same)
In Thailand = Block 1
Post ID filter: -145 <— This does not seem to work
Category filter: Thailand – [id:38]
Ajax filter: Filter by categories

As I understand, the Post ID filter can exclude a category. -145 should exclude (in my site) the Featured category. But it show up anyway.

You’ll see the same items in Featured, in their respective category (always 1 category) and in the last block ‘Voor u geselecteerd’. I’ve no idea what the owner did. He did something with the 2 video blocks, but when I took a look those blocks were gone, and so was the sidebar.

I build a new theme, copied the existing untouched blocks in it, restored what was missing. But this I can’t put my finger on.

I have one problem left:
In style.css on line 471 it reads:

I need to set the padding to 0. I added a no-padding class to row settings, but that doesn’t work.

That’s what I need to solve.

One more question, if I may. I bought this theme for a different site. Right now I’m building on localhost. I’m allowed to do that, I think, for testing. Do correct me if I am wrong.
Do I have to buy a extra license if I want to deploy this site? I’m not asking for a freebie, I need to know in order to charge my client correctly.

Catalin, I need to know which plugins are conflicting, so I can remove them.

Apart from that I’m building a different site on localhost where I’d like to do the same. Not with bears, but a different logo. That site in construction has exactly the same problem and no other plugins than the Newspaper theme itself. Nothing at all. Even the 2 default WP plugins I keep deactivated.

So I don’t think it’s plugin conflict, unless you can tell me which plugins that might be. Or tell me how to upload a screenshot, so I can show you.

Which untested plugins?

Very strange. I can’t see it on my laptop (Ubuntu, with Firefox). However, I can see the add perfectly on my tablet. I just removed the top ad, the bottom add is still there.

I understand that. When I activated the site, I deactivated all the thumbs on purpose. I only activated those that gave warnings (for not being used). Even so, the site is growing like mad. What I was looking for is tips to limit the thumbs a bit. For example, would it help to set the Media sizes to theme sizes? Or is it possible not to use the Media sizes at all?

I use on each category the same layout – in order to keep the different sizes down as much as possible.

Regenerating thumbs, would that help? In what way?
