I have a question about a staging site that already has a live Newspaper theme activated. I pushed my live site to my staging site and the staging site’s theme is currently using Newspaper theme 12.1.1. The license key status is active for my live site and is inactive/unsassigned for my staging site. If I assign the key as active for development on my staging site, will my live site stay in tact or will it break?

Thanks

Thank you for the reply. I didn’t explain well enough. I want to select just one of the menu items, not color them all.

Thank you for getting back to me so soon. A co-worker of mine was able to access the visual editor from her computer. I had not tried to use access the site from a different browser so I switched from Chrome to Explorer and the issue went away. After a restart, the visual editor was accessible. My question is what could happen with browser settings etc. and cause an issue like this?

Thanks,

Kris

yannc04,

Not sure if this helps your situation, but I was encountering a similar problem and what I did was delete the theme folder via ftp and then place the new version of the theme in the themes folder and that worked for me.

Hope this helps!

I am experiencing the same issue and have followed the suggestions and the error still displays. One thing that is different from the comments above is that the file wp-content/themes/Newspaper/wp_booster/external is failing in the FTP queue. This has happened three times with same result. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hello Bogdan,

Thanks for your feedback.

If you take off the vbjusa at the end of the url it does go to a legitimate url as you pointed out. https://www.vbjusa.com/author/john-mcdonagh/page/2/vbjusa

I’m curious as to how/where it was/is being generated. Am I to understand that it is not generated by a Newspaper theme setting? If not then I can move on and find search elsewhere for the fix.

The tool being used is Screaming Frog. https://www.screamingfrog.co.uk/seo-spider/

Thanks again.

Catalin,

Thanks for your reply. I believe that I have placed Big Grid-1 as you demonstrated. What my issue is that my sidebar content that was placed to the right of Block 9 content has pushed down the Block 3 content that is supposed be directly under Block 9.

Please see images above for the example.

Thanks,

Kris

Alin,

Thank you for the reply, but your response makes me wonder if you did not read what my issue is. I’m willing to try your fix but understand that the issue is not that I’m not wanting to update to 7.3. I have a staging site that I test upgrades on and the look good then I push to the live site. The update to 7.3 looks great on my staging site! When I push to live the issue occurs. The push to live is an exact copy for I am confused on what the issue might be.

Thanks

I just attempted the update again and the same issue occurred. 🙁

Screenshot after pushing live

Andrei,

My site url is http://www.vbjusa.com, but you will see that issue isn’t there as I reverted my site to a previous version.

On the first link above you will see the screenshot from my staging site. This was a successful upgrade and grid-4 was perfect.

One the second link above you will see what the grid looked like after I pushed the site from staging to live. I can’t explain how it looks, you’ll just have to look at the screenshot.

What I can tell you is for the past two years I have used the same method to update the template and this is the only issue I have had so that is good. Just want to know if you have seen this issue before and if there is a fix.

Thanks for you reply and I’m looking forward to a resolution.

Bogdan,

My site experienced the same error. I found the same reason as you stated above, so I went in and assigned a featured image. When I did that the error moved to another article with no featured image. I fixed that but the error moved down the search page again, but this time to an article that I knew had a featured image assigned to the article.

I did change the search template and it seems that the error has gone away, but I did want to share the information that the error was not confined to articles with no featured image.

My Site: vbjusa.com
My Search: amazon

Thanks for all the hard work you guys do.

Regards,

Kris

I do have it applied but there are two widget headings on the sidebar that the css did not change. See example please.

Edit: Also, these widgets don’t that their own heading color picker.

I’m not sure why your version displays properly. Here are a few screenshots. The third you will see the sidebar is all the way under the content on the left.

Chris S. Thanks for you reply. Where is this zoom setting you’re referring to?

After updating to Newspaper 6 how do you make the following code work for the sidebar?

.widget.widget_text .block-title span{
background-color: #000000 !important;
}
.widget.widget_text .block-title{
border-color: #000000 !important;
}

I knew I was going to be behind by a version or two but I am still on 6.2 and the current version is 6.3.2. Do I update by deactivating and then deleting the 6.2 version and then uploading the new version? Also, have to update visual composer? Do I update VC before the theme?

Thank you Alin. I just pushed my site from staging to live with and noticed a couple of things. The Social Counter icons for Facebook and Twitter disappeared and on the mobile version, the complete logo isn’t visible. It may be if I could change the header color to white but the navigation is also white and would have to be changed to another color. Do you have any suggestions?

Thanks!

Alin, so the sharing buttons are hardcoded?

k24

I appreciate you taking the time to answer my questions. Thank you the clarification on the menu and the link to the block layouts. I didn’t see the code for the sharing though. Can you please place that again?

Thanks!
