Many thanks for that info – how could they break that?
I should add I have found this problem only when trying to convert a reusable button to a regular block. If I try to convert a reusable paragraph block to regular it works fine.
Thank you, Calin.
However, as I say, this problem occurred with 9.2.2. Can you add a fix to make that field properly visible in next update? I have to adjust it with every new post in my homepage design and it’s rather laborious…
I never like any of Newspaper’s template designs – I’m just suggesting you put more variety into your templates, approaching the site I have designed with flex block 3.
I don’t think so – I’m not sure you understand. As I say, this happened with 9.2.2 one day a few months ago after no update. It’s not particular to X. It happens in Safari, Firefox and Chrome on iMac desktop and on MacBook Pro.
But – separate question – why would Newspaper change with X to such a pointless design, obscuring padding information?
I see this user says “Yes, I could finally solve the problem by doing a clean installation from 0, importing content and images.”
Do I have to do this? It seems rather extreme. Does that mean a clean installation of Newspaper 10.3 or I have rebuild the website in some way?
Now it’s playing on my iPhone 5s. Some glitch, perhaps. Thanks
This has worked fine but I see warnings in custom css field next to this code: “Don’t use adjoining classes” and “use of !important”.
Does this matter? Is it a problem?
Thanks
Ignore the last message – I just pasted it in Custom HTML by mistake!
I will try this, but I notice with the previous addition the added code is now showing at the base of the website. See here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1dsZyOjWBPU4wz-jAAd0lBF0gMZFJND2G/view?usp=sharing
Update – I made the change assuming I am using standard post style and all the 5 or so articles I have tested now look fine, date in place, stars gone.
Will the next Newspaper upgrade will include this code correction?
Thanks
Thanks – but I prefer to do this to learn – if you would advise and answer the 2 questions above.
For example, in this article: https://jazzjournal.co.uk/2020/03/04/harrison2-trout-in-swimwear/
I have inserted this code at theme panel> custom code> custom css and saved. Still on hover over the yellow button it goes black, not the grey of #e6e6e6.
.post .wp-block-button.td_btn_large .wp-block-button__link {
font-weight: 500;
}
.post .wp-block-button.td_btn_large a:hover{
background-color: #e6e6e6!important;
}
I removed the code. I’ll put it back – please take a look in 10 minutes.
Thanks
I pasted this (using different colour code – #dff1ed) in theme panel> custom code> custom css but still the hover colour is black:
.post .wp-block-button.td_btn_large .wp-block-button__link {
font-weight: 500;
}
.post .wp-block-button.td_btn_large a:hover{
background-color: #dff1ed!important;
}
Ok – fixed. 10.3 had changed SELECT THE TOP MENU from “Top bar menu” to “–No Menu–”
Another bug.
In Theme Panel/Post Settings/Default Site Post Template (site wide) I am using Style 1
In WP post edit window, next to “Post Format” I use Standard (not Video or Audio). Does this help? No mention of Default though…
Thanks – 2 questions:
(1) I don’t know if I am using “standard” or “default” post style. How can I know?
(2) Do I make this code change in the webspace at my hosting company or somewhere else (ftp?) is better? (I am not an experienced coder but sure I can copy and paste.)
Disabled all plugins, inc. tagdiv Standard Pack and cleared cache. Still stars show but no date. Thanks
Also, in blocks “SHOW AUTHOR NAME Enable or disable the author name (on blocks and modules)” appears not to work. I have “show date” and “show author name” selected but only date shows – https://jazzjournal.co.uk/category/reviews/audio-reviews/
If “no” is selected in response to “Is this a product review?”, the date returns to the top of the post and stars disappear. Can this really be a plugin conflict?
I have the same problem since updating from 9.2.2 to 10.3 this weekend.
This post, not using product review – https://jazzjournal.co.uk/2020/03/01/obituary-jon-christensen/ – shows date.
This post, using product review, shows stars (not requested) and no date – https://jazzjournal.co.uk/2020/03/01/maria-mendes-close-to-me/
I hope this can be resolved very quickly – dates are important.
Thanks
Mark Gilbert
