Dear Calin – I have tested another homepage with padding/margin adjustments in css and it’s rendering ok. So something in my block layout in the other page doesn’t work in Firefox though ok in Safari?

Hi Calin – many thanks for your reply. The screenshot of Firefox you sent is ok because I have removed almost all padding and margin adjustments. I have now added -20 to ccs margin-top in both rows on the page as you will see here:

The only non-Newspaper plugins active were Cookie Notice, Regenerate Thumbnails, Password Protected, now deactivated.

I’d really like to solve this one today so I can launch with the tighter, small margin layout I prefer. Thanks.

Same with Css-padding-bottom – Firefox will take 20 but 41 will throw the elements out… Safari is fine. I need help on this, or any reader using Firefox, a fairly popular browser, will be in trouble. My launch is delayed for 2 days already… Am I missing something or is Newspaper just incompatible with Firefox? Or at least if you adjust spacing parameters in Flex Box 3 (which is what I am using throughout my homepage)? At the moment I am forced to have irregular block depths in Safari to avoid elements all over the place in Firefox… Do I tell readers to avoid using Firefox?

Actually – not solved! I now see the problem is Firefox won’t accept any Column Gap below 18. If you select 17, it will throw your elements into disarray and introduce white space. Also Firefox will not respond to changes to css margin top, e.g., -20. Safari is fine. Can this be fixed? Can you make Newspaper work in Firefox as in Safari?

Please disregard this query – all now seems ok after I used rows/inner rows differently (and probably correctly!)

Thanks, Catalin for your tablet shot – is that actually from a tablet or from tablet view on desktop? My problem is that on the iPad the header text and some excerpt has moved into the image. I should say the iPad is an iPad 2 (from 2011) running iOS 9.3.5 – could that be a factor?

Thanks – I have discovered by accident how borders work – by adding values to the border margin in CSS tab. Correct? So question answered… Did I miss some documentation in your manuals on this?

I have now worked around this rendering problem on tablet by adjusting margin for tablet portrait and landscape under the CSS tab – is this the default way to get your columns equal? That’s ok if so, but please advise if there is another method.

However, I am still seeing header and text moving up and overlaying image on the iPad. This problem does not occur when resizing desktop browser to tab size. Can you explain/resolve this iPad problem? Do you have a tablet you could test http://jazzreview.co.uk and tell me if you see header and text overlaying image?

Yes, it looks great on desktop and mobile. But if you resize your desktop browser to tablet, portrait or landscape, the column lengths become uneven. Now I have just tested it on an iPad and worse, the headings and some excerpt text now overlays the images. Thanks

Likewise Image Caption in Theme Fonts / Post Elements / Image Caption – altering font here has no effect on the image caption in block editor. Also, unfortunately, the image caption in block editor is centred, cannot be moved left.

I am guessing Newspaper 9 is not quite up to date with block editor in various ways and some of these problems lie with block editor, not Newspaper.

But are there plans for update here? Do you recommend using Classic Editor for all posts? I could do this but fear my posts might be broken later if WordPress only supports block editor (which I don’t much like as a system). Thanks.

Thanks for this info on dropcap font. However, I cannot get drop cap font or colour to change in Theme Fonts / Other / Dropcap. I’ve got a feeling you’re going to tell it’s because I’m using block editor and not classic as I see your screencast about colour above you are using classic editor. Is that right? Block editor seems to have a lot of shortcomings…

I don’t see the Offset H and Offset V controls in Newspaper 9 – trying to create thin vertical rules (dividers) between columns. Are those the ones you need to get vertical rules as you show here? https://www.screencast.com/t/roOh2mhmn84H.

Is it true there is a vertical divider option in Newsmag but not Newspaper?

Wow – so border options shown in the CSS tab in Newspaper theme aren’t activated, even though most real-life newspapers use them? They only work in the lower-spec Newsmag theme? Is there a page with CSS codes for borders in Newspaper then?

Many thanks – I hadn’t realised this was classed as a page – I assumed it would be under category. This works for font and size but the Transform options do not seem to work – it’s always upper case. I would like a capitalized title if possible.
