Hi Chris,
Does the example function code work for both desktop and mobile RSS feeds? or do we need to add something for mobile?
Thanks for your help.
Hi Catalin,
I searched for “featured image rss” in the forums….and based on what I have read…it would seem to me….TagDiv needs to get the featured image into the RSS feed by default.
People are jumping through hoops trying to figure this out and the fact that this is not automatic in the theme seems ridiculous at this point.
Incidentally, if you do this for the featured image, please be sure you take into account both desktop and mobile….alternatively, for each media type.
My two cents! 🙂
Hi Chris,
Thanks for the feedback. I found FeedWordpress at https://wordpress.org/plugins/feedwordpress/ and their main website is at http://feedwordpress.radgeek.com/
In my research I also came across WP RSS Aggregator quite a bit and includes a number of features https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-rss-aggregator/
What I’m not sure about is what RSS aggregator has been tested with the Newspaper theme and/or if there are any problems (or ones to avoid).
Thanks for collaborating.
Hi Chris,
Thank you very much for your feed back. I’m going to summarize the options here.
1. Moving to PHP 5.6 as it has opcache built in
2. Consider using a product called Varnish (https://varnish-cache.org/)
3. Use a combination of https + PHP 7 + http/2
4. Move to TD Composer instead of Visual Composer
We’ll have our tech team look into these options. Based on our results I will respond back to this thread with the option that worked for us.
Hi Catalin,
Thanks for your feedback. Due to security reasons I cannot send you the URL of this site that is in development.
Imagine that we have a logo on the far left of the sticky menu. Immediately to the right of the logo are 9 menu items. The 9th menu item is going to a second line and appears right below the logo.
We think it would be best if the navigation menu was one line below the logo…in the sticky menu.
So, in the sticky menu…the logo would be on one line at the top…and the navigation menu would be below it.
We do have a child theme active so we’re open to any customization if necessary.
I hope I was able to describe the situation in a bit more detail now.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Catalin,
Thank you for the link about WordFence at https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/cant-save-theme-settings/
This solved the problem by going to WORDFENCE > FIREWALL > FIREWALL STATUS > Select Learning Mode > SAVE
I was then able to make the changes in the Themes Panel.
Once the changes were done, I reset WordFence to Enabled and Protecting.
Thanks for pointing us in the right direction.
Hello,
I have looked at this link in this thread:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-install-revolution-slider-v5/
However, I do not see the instructions on how to install RSv5. It seems to only be a description of why it is not bundled.
Is this merely a matter of FTP’ing the files in the RSv5 folder from the Themeforest download to the “revslider” folder on the server or is there anything else that needs to be done?
Thanks for the clarification.
Hi,
Thank you both for your feedback. We will test all three RSS importer suggestions and see what works the best.
Hi,
Yes there is a resolution to this problem….turn off lazy loading animations. That fixed our problem.
We honestly don’t have time to figure out what javascript or plugin is interfering with this issue and just turned lazy lading off. The moment we did that it all worked across multiple computers and browsers.
Not sure what the value is of lazy loading, but it seems like it has the potential for more trouble than it is worth.
Hope this helps others.
Hello,
Let me continue to add something else we found on the Themeforest forums.
http://themeforest.net/forums/thread/newspaper-6-theme-not-showing-images-on-home-page/185155
Someone else had or has the exact same problem we are having with home page images not showing.
There has to be something inherent inside of this theme causing this trouble and I don’t think it is a caching issue.
Thanks for any help.
Hi Lucian,
We have pretty much done all the things you have said even before I posted the help request. Just to be sure we have followed through on your instructions…again.
What I’m wondering is if this has anything to do with the Retina segment of the website. Could the size of the images set as featured images have anything to do with our problem?
I’d like to send you a screenshot of what I’m seeing on the home page where either no images display or where the images should be is greyish image showing up instead. I can’t find a way to attach a screenshot to this reply. Not sure if that will help or not.
Thanks for your help.
Hi Marius,
Just so that we have a basis…can you confirm what the default font size is for the block title?
Thank you very much for the comments and help.
Hi Chris,
What about adding the ad codes into the main body between sections on the home page for example?
Thanks for your feedback.
Hi Lucian,
Thanks for your feedback. This must be a cache issue, because we do have several of the posts with featured images and they are not showing on my browser.
If we run into any other questions on this topic we’ll get back to you.
