Thanks Chris – it’s these two occurrences of this ‘text/javascript’ script – appears to come from Cloudflare? I’d seen on .org the CF page rules and made those – will try with it off (damn got a great page speed with it on) or research other page rules etc – Thanks so much for guidance – Pat

Hi Chris

Yes – Apester Interactive Content (clue in title?) runs <interaction> tag and errors in Search Console – in development mode for AMP page this removes error when deactivated – can live with that. Deactivated all other plugin one by one (except VC)

But two script error(s) remain which look like this below in Chrome Dev Tools – Errors – with /amp/#developemnt=1 after url – beyond me!

Not expecting an answer Chris – just for info

nB.prototype.warn=function(a){this.qa?this.qa.push(“W: “+a):console.warn?console.warn(a):console.log(“WARNING: “+a)};nB.prototype.error=function(a){this.qa?this.qa.push(“E: “+a):console.error?console.error(a):console.log(“ERROR: “+a)};var oB=function(a,b){this.Ja=a;this.Ca=b};oB.prototype.aa=function(){return this.Ja};oB.prototype.$=function(){return this.Ca};

Hi Chris

Any chance of a steer with one AMP error

Have cleared all other errors in search console except ‘Prohibited tag – INTERACTION .

Tag is the only error left in 2,000+ posts but I can’t even find a reference to this tag anywhere on the web.

Strangely 3 posts have passed AMP but 2,000 haven’t – wonder what’s different?

(Ref our last conversation about syndicating send2press – are you US only news?)

Just use Homepage template ‘Default’
Instead of ‘Homepage + latest articles’

WORK there – I’m sure you worry there 🙂

Just to share some experiences improving site speed for the many who post here to discuss…

What I’ve also done (My site is an independent ‘hyperlocal’ news site – slightly bigger than hyperlocal really) which I think is good practice given FB Instant Articles and AMP (Already on Apple News for almost a year now) is almost ‘forget the desktop’ exists.

Due to 75%+ mobile visitors it seems good practice (if a ‘live’ news site with say 100+ articles per week) to get the site as fast and safe as possible – this may help others

– I’ve removed all home page blocks except ‘ticker’ – a lightweight grid with no slider- and a sidebar
– Removed all plugins or deactivated ones no required all the time
– Implemented Chris S .htaccess and functions.php tips exactly as described – inc image resizing
– Paid Cloudflare with page rules to remove wp-admin etc- following TagDiv recommendation settings except RocketLoader ON – Mirage in ON
– Removed my subscriber pop-up and won’t use one – promote subscriptions via another route – FB ads – Twitter ads perhaps
– Removed SumoMe and anything that fetches CSS externally
– I do run UberMenu on main site and ShiftNav on mobile (for a better user experience) – But run NO mega menu or dropdowns
– Currently RocketLoader (Cloudflare) runs and doesn’t break anything
– Only added Google Analytics via YoastSEO not on Theme Panel box – it’s there and working
– ADDED a user text box to point people to how to navigate the site – believe it or not saying ‘Press load more or click coloured category labels or main menu’ actually gets visitors to do that!

Results –

Before – GTMetrix – PageSpeed B YSlow C Page size (Homepage) 3.2MB Requests – 187 – Load time – about 7-10 secs
Pingdom 5-7 seconds

After – Page Speed A (96%) YSlow B (82%) Page size (Homepage) 1.2MB Requests 96 – Load time – 2 secs
Pingdom 700ms-1.3 secs

The theme still looks great on desktop but it’s not worth getting caught up in the aesthetics if the visitors aren’t looking at the pretty views – it looks brilliant on mobile and that’s what matters.

Thanks Chris

Yes I hope there’s an option to select articles for FB IP – in the plugins etc – will try selected ones

It appears UK Nationals are planning to put about one in ten articles through FB – while one US National has gone the whole way and done all of the news articles.

Sorry missed message – yes the responsive code is all I used – otherwise on mobiles it looks wrong – try the responsive code and don’t forget to save settings in theme panel

PatWire
tagDiv Member

The two images you’ve posted are identical aren’t they?

PatWire
tagDiv Member

I think you’d need a plugin to add more but not sure if that would work – more than one would annoy readers?

PatWire
tagDiv Member

Not sure about that

PatWire
tagDiv Member

It looks ok on mobile – if you look in Theme Panel it tells you the sizes of thumbnails used for each Block – make sure the one for the block you’re using is ‘switched on’

Upload the correct size images (or larger than the size you need) and run Force Regenerate Thumbnails’ plugin (recommended by TagDiv) you can run it just for the image(s) you need from Media Library – all for all images

Smaller images than the recommended sizes in Theme Panel can’t be made larger by Force Regenerate plugin

In your Adsense account you can prevent types of ad showing (perhaps gambling or adult etc) but if you don’t know them you haven’t changed it so that’s good

Try the responsive Adsense code not the specific size code

PatWire
tagDiv Member

Do you mean when you’re in post editor?
Writing a new post?

PatWire
tagDiv Member

Yes I see it’s not showing – in your Adsense account you haven’t disabled too many category types so there are actually no ads to serve?

Have you used the image and text ad options in Adsense? And the responsive as code (rather than trying to match a size)

There is a link to CSS on this forum to do that – I can’t find it right now but search and there’s a lot about it – it can be done but have to change each one – if I find it I’ll post back

PatWire

Have you pressed the button in WordPress post editor that reveals all the options? It’s a square with two or three lines in it

PatWire

Have you got an adblocker enabled in the browser you’re using?

Just thoughts based on my own errors in the past, have you cleared caches including browser cache?

PatWire

Chris S

It seems from some things you’ve said recently you run news type sites? I do too and have built traffic over four years into a relatively high number (hyperlocal or slightly bigger than hyperlocal really) – I’m on a AppleNews, Google News, AMP – However FB Instant Articles seems different in that the others require a click to my site – FB keeps it in the app (initially) – Just wondered what your view was? Do you think we have to use it as a social signal/users like it?

I’d guess use it for some content on rollout say one in ten posts whatever?

Advertisers pay me based on traffic of course, surely this will drop massively if you put all content on FB?

Cheers

I don’t use the forum but have you not tried Theme Panel – Fonts – bbPress Forum?

There seem to be a ton of options there

PatWire

Did you ever find a way to achieve this?

Hi Publisher –

It’s simple to do this – go to Theme Panel > Fonts > Other > Breadcrumbs > – Change font, font qualities including BOLD etc
