Add the expiration headers for your own content; you can’t do so for anything loaded from other sites.
You can minify the CSS and .js but a little tricky. See my long winded tutorial in the docs > tutorials > best of forums here for one way to do that.
Probably need to Google that, as not specific to the theme, but websites in general. You can turn it off in Safari, but I don’t think you can “tell Safari not to do that…” as it’s a usability option of the browser. I tried to find solution that myself recently, and wasn’t able to.
Only solution I found was possible ‘hack’ to fire off an ‘exit’ option on firing of the reader, which isn’t very elegant and likely to cause a loop or something.
But you can read up on the subject here — again, not theme specific, so something you need to research on your own, unless somebody here figured out a hack already

Theme does not control your hosting setup. Different web servers use different tech, so something working for Apache may not work for Windows or NGINX, etc.
Welcome to WordPress ! 😉
This *is* actually mentioned in the theme docs, under ‘tutorials’ so worth a look also:

Yes, you need to optimize your site. Theme can’t do it for you.
a) see the tutorials section in theme docs here (top menu) for some tips on optimizing site
b) use gtmetrix.com on one of your site posts, to see all the stuff you may need to tweak on your server, image optimization, etc.
( I don’t work here. )
With basic usage, using most AMP plugins including the ‘official’ one from Automattic, the video has to actually be in the post meta. Or, you need to use a plugin that attaches it properly to the footer hook in AMP template with proper AMP format for video.
Generally videos “outside” the post meta won’t show up in the AMP page.
And of course, you can check this by simply going to your amp page in browser with the /amp/ endpoint.
Also check page for errors with console view in chrome!
Ad rotator works with theme… might just be config or shortcode problem, or bug in another plugin.
Turn off option in main wp discussion menu to get emails when comments made. Theme does not send emails.
Check word encoding for those menu items
Yes, this theme does have a showcase gallery – but like most such, they are submitted by users, not added by the theme dev. However, if you know how to do advanced Google searches you can simply look for the ‘td_scandal’ or ‘td-scandal’ style class in the code, and might find some stuff.
I guess if TD didn’t give you examples here, they don’t have any other than their own cool demo. I don’t think that template is very widely used; meaning, I’ve rarely seen sites using the scandal template, but have seen other templates used a lot online.
(Sorry I don’t work here, just been using Newsmag since it first launched!) 🙂
The uploaded file could not be moved to wp-content/uploads
That is usually a permission issue, not theme related. Changing themes should have zero impact on that unless the folder was previously “owned” by a user or Apache vs the FTP user, which is normal practice. You can usually check ‘ownership’ via your file editor on hosting panel, and on some FTP software apps.
Usually easy to tell if a permission issue if you can’t FTP images to that folder either.
The regenerate thumbs plugin will generally *always* generate a thumb based on the single featured image assigned for the post. Some plugins like Auto Post Thumbnail Pro, can instead capture first image in post meta and make that featured image, which will then be the thumbnail used for modules/etc.
I don’t work here; just some feedback.
Why not do a Google search? I don’t think TagDiv keeps track of WHO is using WHAT demo? That would kinda be like spying. You might look through the ‘showcase’ from folks who have submitted example sites. Not everybody wants to broadcast what theme they are using.
Start by disabling all the default features in Yoast; disable the remove slug words option. Don’t use Yoast same time as other SEO plugins.
The AMP plugin from Automattic works just fine with TagDiv themes.
The AMP endpoint /amp/ and the mobile version should coexist, as the /amp/ endpoint only works for amp-compatible devices/apps.
Remember to resave permalinks after enabling the AMP plugin. See the AMP help forum for more info.

Try testing with gtmetrix.com instead of that companys health meter. Number of plugins not directly related to health, as many plugins are simple functions, which as plugins survive theme updates as not in theme functions.php file.
You might also consider a wordpress optimized hostingco, also.
Health is not a specific indicator without more reference to what is being measured… speed? Resources used? Or what?
Obviously a bad plugin can impact a site more than number of plugins, specifically.
Not sure that helped or not.

That plugin often does not work. Ftp is best method as you can do safe backup of site same time.
With some versions of newspaper, open header.php and remove element for og tag.
What health tool are you using?
Not theme related, you might check with Google forums.
Also, check your site stats, either from Google Analytics and/or from your web server stats package, to see what kind of traffic you’re getting and from where.
I don’t have this issue here, as I often catch a typo, or update something, and reads actually go up a couple of days later as the social stuff I do when sharing propoagates more and stuff in Google News and elsewhere “settle.”
You could setup your tracking, then monitor what’s going on — for example if it’s all bot traffic, then do update on test post, then monitor what changes specifically.
“views” is a broad term, and can apply to unique visitors, bot traffic, hackers, scrapers, etc. — if you lose bot traffic, but not unique visitors, then nothing actually wrong. If you lose bot traffic, they may choose to not keep indexing it as new if the “updated date” changed relative to position in the RSS feed.
I don’t work here – just food for thought anyway.
You can add support for akismet if you use it (many of us don’t, having removed comments from our sites to avoid spam/bots); simply read the docs for the *optional* speedbooster plugin *if* you want to use it.
You can also do what I did, which is simply use the “scripts to footer” plugin which kinda does the same thing, without any drama.
working for me (2:27pm PT 12.15.17) … it shows flush left and text wrapping it properly.
What browser are you using and version?

If you’re using an outdated TagDiv themes like Newspaper or Newsmag and you suspect that your website might be infected, you can verify through our free SiteCheck scanner. Update the themes to patch the vulnerability, then inspect your blog for suspicious users. We also advise that you test your settings, change your passwords, and scan your server for any backdoors that may have been left behind.
Also, worth checking the changelog for each new version of Newsmag to check what has been patched, including any security fix.
Much like updating WordPress to fix security flaw in core WP code.
But, check your site with the Securi free scanner, and that way you will know you’re okay 🙂

I don’t think you can add php functions into the ad panel as those are wrapped in a php function already …
so you might try the
function myfunc{ get blah }
kind of thing
Or simply add the code to the actual template files, or insert via function in function file or plugin.
I don’t work here, just some feedback.

the /newsmag/ error is a common issue with WordPress – not theme related; meaning when you change themes, if Google pings your site, it tries to load an index file in theme folder, when there is none.
One solution, which we do here, is to add a redirect for /newsmag/index.php >> mainsite >> index.php
Theme doesn’t control your robots.txt file. You can test by simply doing
mysite.com/robots.txt — is it actually there?
(I don’t work here.)
We are not having this issue with our sites running TagDiv themes, and we have 10+ sites in Google News. However, we turn off stuff we don’t absolutely need, and are not running the mobile theme options, and we’re not using pagebuilders for posts, and not running external ad networks other than AdSense at this time.
That likely doesn’t help — just some feedback 🙂
Also worth reminding to those visiting thread in future: check your Google News sitemap — if all the data is there, Google should be able to get that data. Any error will also show in your GN sitemap in your search console account when you “test sitemap” — after you fix stuff, resubmit sitemap for Google News.
