please disable all plugins and try to save again.
we have interconnected problems with the theme not being able to save because of the suhosin security. (http://www.hardened-php.net/suhosin/)

my advice is to download xampp (https://www.apachefriends.org/index.html) and do a clean wordpress and Newspaper theme install (no plugins) and see if it works.

You might try turning off any plugins you’re using which access external sites, such as social media, jetpack, forms which submit to another website URL, etc.

With normal theme without any weird add-ons or call-outs to other sites, our PCI-DSS security scanning firm passes all our sites as not having such issues.

Not my theme, but perhaps Marius and Radu might have better answer.

It would have been helpful if your sysadmin has given you an EXAMPLE of such an error showing WHICH application or code is giving that “cross scripting” error/warning. Since nobody else is having this issue, there must be something different about plugins or code you’re running on the site, which is throwing up this kind of warning message.

Hey Christopher! When I run the script (with api key) locall with wamp server, the response time is almost zero. When executing the code on my server (by putting a clean php code in the root and execute it by requesting the file), there’s a delay. Almost 7 seconds delay. Now, i know you are also running a plesk server, do you know if it could have to do something with my server settings? I already tested it by processing PHP by Apache instead of nginx but that doesn’t make a difference. I’m on PHP version 5.4.23, but maybe i’m missing some php extensions?

Just one another question – When I make a screenshot and then cut out the images and thumbnails I have recognized the size is not exactly the same as indicated in the documentation. For example – the two column image is 699 instead of 700 pixel, the thumbnail is 325 instead of 326 pixel and so on.

Is there a reason for? I am just asking because it seems the images are compressed this pixel and looking different when I open these images with right click in a new tab.

Well i’ve tested a clean php code (without image) that they provide for php in a single script with and without api key and it returns the correct count immediately. Then i’ve tested that clean code within functions.php (and added the created shortcode in the post template) and it delays. Then i’ve tested the clean php code by adding it directly to loop-single.php (without shortcode) and it also delays. So i think it doesnt have anything to do with the sharedcount api or response time, but with the page rendering. For example, category pages that dont contain this code are loaded instantly. Somehow the post pages rendering slows down.

All tests were done without caching to measure respone time.

Well i use the sharedcount api to count the total shares for me. It´s considered one of the fastest api to do this. Maybe i have configured the function wrong, i´ve tested it without caching and this peace of code make the website render at least 3 seconds later. Maybe you can have a look:

Also, the total share counts are shown right below the post title, so maybe that prevents the page from rendering? I’ve added the shortcode in loop-sigle.php right below the page title and above the category and date meta.

Without this function the website will load very quickley, even without cache, due to the nginx set up.

+1 I was going to ask about this, a “style 7” for header, such as

Also good idea if having any issues with widgets to simply go to each and press “save” again. I tend to do this out of paranoia with each new full dot WP update:

1) resave permalinks (habit as it resets/touches the htaccess file which as the rewrite rules)

2) disable and re-enable plugins one by one; check for any error message on re-enable.

3) run wp-optimize plugin which cleans house on orphan meta, etc.

4) do tools > save all site data (if not already done); good to do before AND after any update especially if “database has been updated” happens with the upgrade.

5) once a month I do full FTP download of site in case server catches fire and datacenter hit by lightning and backups melt.

6) Check site in IE11/Win7-64 and Chrome/Win7-64. (Generally if it works in Chrome on Windows then Chrome, Safari and Firefox on Mac will work – and who cares about anybody still running IE on Mac!)

7) If needed for anything like missing widgets, go to appearance and just hit “save” and it resets it. For missing ads, simply hit “save” in the theme panel for each ad spot.

8) Finally, out of general paranoia I also look at the source of a sample post, to make sure the meta tags are not messed up due to the occasional whack-a-doodle bug in Yoast, and because we’re running mod_pagespeed and like to check things are not being re-written in some bad way.

Veteran WP users have their own checklist, but this may be useful to the newbies. 🙂

I’ve changed the setting according to your solution.
But I get this problem:
1. The slider is not a full width slider
2. The slider image is above the frame with empty space below the image
How can I make the slider above the sidebar & content?

3. The width is no longer 3/4 + 1/4 , making the sidebar too wide and the content place too small.

Is that possible to have 3/4 + 1/4?
I can see that you have 1/4 + 3/4 in the layout setting, can you add one more in the future template update?

On my sites, the ad in top bar, below article, and sidebar already “auto center” using the “responsive” AdSense code from Google.

I think Marius needs to know an example (a case) where you are having the ads NOT centered, such as a custom block of text, or what exactly. A link to page, post, or where you’re using the AdSense code on your site and if you’re manually putting into your template or using the Newspaper theme admin panel “AD” boxes to insert the code.
