you should select another footer template in theme panel, then you can add more and custom blocks wherever you want in sidebar Footer 1, 2 and 3. In this case you need Footer 3 sidebar

I was going to add DMCA badge code in footer section after the Popular category but not able to do it. Also as per the document, the three block footer is showing on live site but not showing in widget section in footer block.
Note: Tried already added from widget section, but no success.

13. How can I choose a page layout for my categories pages?
As you can see, my home page hxxp://concursospublicos.ninja have a diferent sidebar of the categories pages, for example hxxp://concursospublicos.ninja/preparacao. In that case I erase in my homepage that block used in the category page.
You might also be able to just remove the second block entirely and just have one full width span

Anecdotal…
tested a Rolling Stone article with wide headline

and it also skips the first paragraph, but grabs the sub-headline which is the same “block” (basically two cols vs one col). So it might be the wide headline template alone causing that oddity.

You can change the number of words for excerpts from the “excerpts” panel in the theme panel.
I just went through doing this myself, actually as we write headlines “up to 20 words” (which is max for Google News), and wanted 20 words visible vs 15 or 12 on some blocks. Works!
Actually … that is separate function for a different kind of content sharing.
Here is example of what I’m talking about …
if you go to your G+ account and post an update, and paste in this link from one of our sites — one of the last ones running Woo Canvas vs Newsmag:

this will populate the photo, headline and first paragraph in the content box.
If I do that on CaliforniaNewswire.com with a story, running Newsmag 1.6, it no longer does that; although it did it a week ago prior to the switch to Newsmag from our old Woo custom template.
This leads me to believe all things being equal that there is some element of the rendered page structure which causes Google’s scraper to not pull the full text in quite the same way.

I did try removing the “categories” from above headline/title on CaliforniaNewswire.com and this had no effect. I am going to try some other things like “simple sidebar” and removing related content, social media buttons, etc., to see if it’s “relational” content confusing it (e.g., meta data or mark-up related to the other images/titles on page), or what. Super annoying.
It may be that having the bulk of other headlines/titles/images inside the “woo sidebar” separates the onpage content enough to make the Google scraper less confused.
They really should be pulling the damn meta/og description tag, and no good reason for them to still be “scraping” the page.
Could be something as simple as they don’t like the “full width headline” which is in separate “block” from the body text; meaning not in the same “column” …. (sigh)
I’m playing with it, as time permits.
Upshot — the Woo Canvas template we’ve had for several years DOES WORK for G+ capture, while the Newsmag layout I’ve setup does NOT … so, I’m always frustrated by these micro-management issues with Google …
And don’t get me started on the right format for sitelinks for CSE hinting. Lack of documentation on that is ridiculous from them. 🙂
Yeah, I’ve just gotten in habit of deleting the field text if I update a block. Luckily the feedback in the preview area of the layout reminds me if I forget. Annoying, but not world crushing.

Hi, I understood what you said, thank you.
I’ve changed the Block from 11 to 12 so now I’m using the Block 12 module.
The readmore button appeared but the readmore tag is still ignored by the theme. It just cuts the text according to the excerpt lenght.
I’ll find another way and try a possible fix.

Unfortunately the theme doesn’t have an option to disable ads on specific posts, so if you want to block ads for specific posts you can do something like this – https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/disable-inline-ads-for-categories/ but insted using category you can use is_single() function and paste post IDs in an array. You can find out more here about this function – https://codex.wordpress.org/Function_Reference/is_single
Or you can use css if you want to hide them:

Newspaper theme was designed in 3 columns fixed grid, so the blocks are recommended to be used 1/1 – 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3, or 2/3 + 1/3 like you can also see in backend when you split the row(are colored blue): http://screencast.com/t/0y8y1bJwl8vy You can also split row like you like, but not all blocks will work fine.

We’ve removed the titles from many of the blocks on our pages, if we edit a block that previously had no title specified the title ‘block title’ is placed into the field.
