Hi,
Sorry for the inconvenience, try to update to version 4.6 and install speed booster 2.5. Clear the cache and see if the issue is still there. If you don’t have version 2.5 i can send it to you via email, just write at contact@tagdiv.com .
Thank you, Emil G.
See the theme docs on how to update.
there is a patch file in the full download, but i usally turn off plugins, delete old theme folder, upload new theme folder, reactivate theme
Obviously you need to manage your caching and cdn settings as applicable, such as clearing cache before reactivating new version.

That’s what I thought. I don’t think slider is able to do “double loading” — meaning it’s doing ajax or whatever to load each “slide” as an image, but cannot also do “media query check” as each slide loads, as that would mean reloading the slide every time to check for viewport. Horribly complicated and almost means having to do a viewport check, THEN load “desktop slider” vs “mobile slider” with two different setups; meaning loading both large and small images like is done with logo. Problem there, however, is what size would somebody load for mobile since the viewports vary, and traditionally loading larger image and “scaling” it was fine since you’d get benefit of more pixels for retina without having to actually load a denser image.
In our case to this issue, the solution was running mod_pagespeed on the server as this optimizes and caches the most common “rendered size” — so if 80% of your audience was coming in on iPhone, viewing in portrait, and the 1073 image was loading as 573, then mod_pagspeed would make an optimized 573 size image and cache it; which would speed things up AND help with the “resize image” technical “problem” with mobile.
I cannot stress any more highly the benefit of mod_pagespeed for this kind of issue; and the fact it can generate optimized images for Chrome and other WebP image capable platforms (WebP more efficient than jpg).
If you can use a web hosting company using mod_pagespeed you will be amazed. Of course some CDN providers are now offering this, too, if your hosting provider doesn’t yet do so.
Hi,
Please make sure you disable the plugins and empty cache then check again as this may came from a plugin.
Thanks
Thank you for your reply Lucian. You clarified all that I needed to know and I guess I should probably stay away from Child themes since I’m just using the settings/preferences within the theme at this point. The theme very good without any additional tweaks, and is mainly why I purchased it.
I also appreciate you being thorough about the Child themes and trouble shooting the issue I experience. I reupload the included child theme that came with the newest update, and thought about trying it and purging the cache, so it was good that you covered that so I know for sure what to do if I choose to use the Child theme. I forgot to ask that but I was thinking about it.
Based on what you advise about the Child Theme, I apparently don’t need to use it for this current project, and maybe should stay away from it with other projects since you don’t recommend it anymore.
Thanks again for the detailed reply!
Hi,
This could be due to the speed booster plugin version 3.0 that was provided with the latest theme version, which is 4.6 (by mistake we have added 4.5d).
Other than this css flash which appears only when using the speed booster plugin the theme should work fine so please make sure that you empty all cache the purge files if you use any CDN host service then disable all plugins and check again.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Hi,
I have checked your site and seems that you also have some errors in your console: http://screencast.com/t/cp8T026vnZUL
A plugin could cause this so please make sure you deactivate all plugin leaving just Visual Composer enabled the empty cache and purge files if you use any cache or CDN plugins then check again, and also make sure that you check you console for errors.
Please let me know what you find.
Thanks
Hi,
Above all, we are sorry for the inconvenience! We do not recommend using the child theme as this could cause lots of issue if not used right and other than that it doesn’t give the ability to change all theme’s files, just some of them.
The settings and customization you chose within the theme don’t get lost when you updated the theme just the ones which are made directly within the theme’s files which we do not recommend also, so from my point of view a child would help but if not used right it could cause issues also.
So if you don’t plan to make changes to the theme’s files we do not recommend using the child theme and if you do want to make some changes, not loots of them, then we suggest to make the changes in the main theme then make a copy of the modified files and replace them after each update or use the patch we provide, if you update from one version to the next, check the change-log to see if the files you also modified have changed and if not you can leave them like they were and simply update the theme using the patch.
If you don’t use the patch you need to modify the files again after each update.
Moving to the child theme messing up your site issue, please make sure that you use the latest version of the child also provide within the theme’s files that you have downloaded from themeforest.
If still doesn’t work make sure you disable plugins, empty cache, purge files and check again.
Please let me know how this works for you.
Thanks
Hi,
@rnbjunk In order to use the theme you need to regenerate the thumbs for the images and when you have so may images it supposed to take some time to generate all thumbs, unfortunately I can’t see any other solution for this, we recommend though to move your site locally then use the plugins regenerate the thumbs then upload the thumbs folder via FTP.
@Pauline Have you checked if you also have writing permission? “The WordPress Database Backup Plugin requires the /wp-content/ folder be made writable. In some cases, this may require assigning 755 permissions or higher (e.g. 777 on some hosts).”
You can find more info about this here: http://codex.wordpress.org/Changing_File_Permissions
Before this please make sure that you don’t use a plugin that causes this and to do so deactivate all plugins then empty cache if you use any and try again.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Be sure to disable woo commerce also, not just the woo commerce extension plugins.
Clear your site cache and cdn cache if susing those, fully clear your browser cache.
The Theme is mostly fast but a few places that could be improved according to GTMetrix

Have same problem…
Disabled plugins – emptied cache.
but search icon looks dead
Hi,
Glad it dose! Regarding the style settings for old pages please make sure that those pages don’t load from cache and for that empty cache then and purge files if you use any CDN host services then disable all plugins leaving just VC active and check again.
If you still have issues with it after following all this steps please give us wp-acess so we can also check and provide login details via email at contact@tagdiv.com and also include a link to this tread.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks Christopher!
@digitalbulgaria First please send your site’s URL so I can inspect it and also make sure you deactivate all plugins and empty cache and/or purge files id you use any CDN hosting services then check again.
@worldchris you can find the changes and list of modified files here: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/update-theme-using-envato-plugin-without-losing-customizations/
Scroll down to this section: http://screencast.com/t/1k9oBNAija

When you have Google Analytics by Yoast active, slide clicks dont work on Firefox.
F5 or clean your cache after activation to try to reproduce the bug. 🙂
Hi,
Another plugin that you already have installed and active could interact with it. Have you tried this without any plugins activate? Also please make sure you download and use the latest theme version and that rev slider plugin within the theme files from plugins folder.
Try this without the plugins and also make sure you empty cache and purge files if you use cache and/or any CDN host services and let me know how it goes.
Thanks
Thanks!
I fix error after i turned off the plugin “W3 Total Cache”. Now is everything OK, just like/tweet button don’t work.
Hi,
1. Can you please provide more details about the first issue you have with image as I have checked to see this on several IOS 8 devices and haven’t managed to recreate it. Please provide more details and your site’s URL so we can check this.
2. Regarding the social networks icons, I have tested this and seems that they are working. Enable them empty cache if you use nay and send me your site’s URL so I can check this.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks @Steven! I have tested the latest theme version and haven’t had any issues of this type.
@Jorge/@SALZBURG12 Please make sure you empty all cache/purge files then deactivate all plugins leaving just Visual Composer active then check again and also clear your browser cache (use Ctrl+Shift+R to re-download the page ignoring cache content) if this dose not helps please update the theme copying the theme’s files manually via FTP using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/ because the envato toolkit seems to case some issue when used for update and could not update the it right.
@Mark Clifford The css flash usually happens when using the speed booster plugin. Just checked your site and seems that it doesn’t happen anymore have you managed to solve it? Please let me know!
The 4.5d version of the theme from theme panel was added by mistake it should state 4.6 so it’s not an issue.
@Jalo I have tested this again using winmerge and that file hasn’t been changed in the latest theme versions, maybe you had an older theme version as the last time this file was changed is 4.1
@skykid Sorry for the inconvenience. More feature will be added, unfortunately I can’t give you any exact details about this but I can let you know that will happen in next updates.
Thanks
Hi,
@mnguyen87 Glad you have managed to get it done. Please note that when you update your theme using the envato toolkit you will not lose your settings and customizations only if you have made modifications to theme files, in that case you need to remake your changes as the files will get overwritten and the changes will be lost.
On the other hand we do not recommend the update through the envato plugin as some issues where reported recently and better would be to do it manually via FTP.
Regarding the “4.5d version” of the latest theme please note that it’s not an issue we have added that by mistake.
@Branstone We do not recommend the plugin as I stated above because seems that can cause other issues. Please make sure you update like this: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/ and after you update make sure you empty all cache and purge files.
Thanks
Hi,
Glad you did! Post views doesn’t work well when using cache that’s why we have added the “Ajax post view count” feature so that the view counter work with all the caching plugins, the system can be enabled via the panel: http://screencast.com/t/1Za6EssfbB
Thanks for the message!

Hi,
I can assure you that it’s not a bug, you can see on pour demo that this doesn’t occur: http://demo.tagdiv.com/newspaper/?s=beauty
Most likely this happens due to a plugin so please make sure you disable all plugins leaving just Visual Composer active then empty cache and/or purge files if you use any CDN hosting service then check again.
Please disable first this one: https://wordpress.org/plugins/search-everything/ as I quite sure that this is causing it.
Please let me know!
Thanks
Well, this is a NEW theme, on version 1.0 … it is not an update to Newspaper. So you need to treat as changing to different theme, unless I totally misunderstood what you were saying there 🙂
So,
1) switch to default WP theme
2) turn off all plugins; delete ALL plugins used for Newspaper theme
and delete any prior issue of Visual Composer – completely
3) clear cache, update CDN if needed
4) install theme
5) install plugins
6) activate new visual composer with all other plugins OFF
7) activate theme from wordpress > appearance
So, you need to install the theme then activate the new theme following the theme docs.
https://forum.tagdiv.com/installation-newsmag/
Which icons are not working?
The theme icons like search glass, social icons, etc., all work on my site in Chrome for Windows and on iPad.
The “like” button works for me also.
Sorry that doesn’t help. Did you have link to your post page where those problems are happening? Be sure to fully clear your browser cache with the new theme enabled, too.
Op cache should work fine. We’re using APC cache on our Apache/CentOS server. Basically it’s server side object caching. This helps speed up any site, nothing to do with the theme. You would also need to check gzip/deflate settings, expiration headers, image optimization/compression, etc. for things to speed up your site overall. 🙂
