Theme loads very fast if you optimize your web server and optimize WordPress, which has nothing to do with the theme. There are many tutorials online with info on how to optimize your site for WP faster loading.
Once your system is properly optimized for speed, you can also add extra features such as caching, and consider using the included WP Speed Booster (may conflict with some oddly coded plugins).
You may find the theme documentation very useful for speeding up the theme on your particular system here:
https://forum.tagdiv.com/page-speed-guide/
Scroll to BOTTOM of the above page for info on using W3 Total Cache with this theme, specifically 🙂
Hope that helps!
Make sure you upload only the main theme files; don’t install the “all files” zip from ThemeForest… that has docs, psd files, plugins, etc.
You want to install the smaller of the two files on Themeforest, if you’re installing via theme panel with .zip.
BEST WAY TO INSTALL WP THEMES:
Ideal way is still to
1) unzip theme folder “Newsmag” on your HD
2) upload via FTP/SFTP to your /wp-content/themes/ folder
3) upload the plugins unzipped to /wp-content/plugins/
4) switch to default theme from your old theme
5) turn off *all* running plugins
6) clear your cache(s), turn off caching (!),
7) activate the Visual Composer plugin
8) activate the new Newsmag theme
9) launch the theme panel
10) reactivate only the plugins you 100% need to make sure they work (some plugins WILL NOT WORK properly with WP 4.01 until you update the plugins!).
Clear the cache in your WEB BROWSER FULLY and restart web browser; this clears any CSS/Java used by your previous theme admin, and theme, so that you see the new CSS/JS properly (seriously, this is cause for huge number of “my new theme doesn’t load right” or “admin panel doesn’t have any boxes!” errors).
If you’re running WordPress older than 4.0 be aware there is a very serious cross-site scripting vulnerability (e.g., WP 3.9.2). You should be running WP 4.0+ to use this theme properly.
This is standard practice for switching to a brand new theme and good habit to get into doing it this way to ensure you clear cobwebs on old, and cleanly move to new.
Hope that helps! 🙂

Please could make a tutorial video on how to speed up loading of the website, I’m newbie, I especially like that can help configuring the plugin W3 Total Cache. its theme is fantastic but if you can not load fast all that magnificent potential of design is lost.
Hi I’m interested in buying this template but.
I have some doubts I bought the Newspaper template, but too resource of server; are Newsmag already solved this problem?
¿Newsmag supports super-cache?
¿Newsmag Newspaper load faster?
Thank you very much, I’m considering buying the template looks great.
Hi,
This could be caused by a plugins as I have tested this using the latest theme version and haven’t had any issue with the pagination so please make sure you deactivate all plugins then empty cache and/or purge files if you use any cdn hosting service then check again.
Please let em know of what you find and also provide your site’;s URL.
Thanks
Hi,
I have tested this and haven’t had any issue of this type using the latest theme version(4.5) so please make sure you deactivate all plugins then empty cache and/or purge files if you sue any caching plugins or CDN hosting services.
If you don’t use the latest theme version we suggest you updated the theme and please let me know if you still have this issue and also provide your site’s URL.
Thanks
You have a lot of plugins installed and your server response its so slow.
Use pagespeed recomendations to fix some easy problems (Y) And install quick cache.
Regards
Hmmm, now without the cache it loads unformatted first and then loads the CSS. Looks odd and clunky.
Also how do you get rid of stars under the images on the front page. We do points and it’s showing 5 stars for stuff that isn’t 5 star reviewed.
Hi,
@samnaun2000
I have checked your site and found this js error in your console which can cause this as the mobile menu works based on js: http://screencast.com/t/GEXwFbw9i3
Please make sure you disable all plugins empty cache/purge files if you use any cache and/or CDN hosting services then check again.
You should consider disabeling the minifying option for html/js/css as this may cause conflicts and errors of this type and also keep in mind that we do not recommend it: http://screencast.com/t/m72j5nD1fmO
Hope this helps!
Thanks
OK I figured it out. Apparently W3 Cache doesn’t actually uninstall when you remove the plugin. Here’s the info I found on how to actually get rid of it, which solved the problem: http://www.shoutmeloud.com/how-to-delete-uninstall-w3-total-cache-wordpress-plugin.html

Hi Lucian,
I have taken your suggestion and deactivated all the plugins except visual composer again today and cleared the cache however I still had the errors. I even re-uploaded the theme as per your instructions to no avail. I have again deactivated the plugins and left them off so you may have a look. I can grant you access to the backend if you need it. Email me at tammy at icidici.com (spelled out to prevent spam) and I will send you a user name and password. I am roughly 5 hours behind you so I can have the email sent to you by early afternoon your time. This site is technically live so I cannot leave the plugins turned off for an extended period of time. I have also used one of the homepage templates that can be located at http://www.icidici.com/temp-2/ but again the slide does not work. Thanks for your help.
Tammy
Hi,
I have checked your piste and found this 2 errors in your console which could generate this: http://screencast.com/t/eAa98k8UZ
Please make sure you deactivate all plugins, leaving just Visual Composer active, then empty cache and/or purge files if you use any cdn hosting services or cache plugins and check for this again.
Please let me know of what you find!
Thanks
OK upgraded to 4.5 and flushed the Google pagespeed cache. Will know the next time I post an update if it worked…
Hi,
Please also update the theme to the latest version then check if this issue is still happening. Also noticed that you have minified some css/js. Please disable the minify option then empty cache/purge files and check again if the error is doesn’t happen. My guess is that when you have w3 total cache active the issue doesn’t happen because of the cache.
Please let me know!
Thanks
This is how to properly remove W3 Total Cache :http://journalxtra.com/wordpress/uninstall-w3-total-cache-proper/
Hi,
I have also noticed that lack of styling and suspected that it due to a plugin. Please make sure you deactivate all plugins leaving just Visual Composer active then empty cache and purge files then let me know and leave it that way so I can take a look.
Those console errors are most likely generated by a plugin as we haven’t had any issues of this type with the theme. You should also consider re-uploading the latest theme files via FTP if nothing helps: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme/
Please let me know!
Thanks
Hi,
It works. I have tested it, just make sure you do it right and empty cache and/or purge files if you use any cdn host services.
Thanks
Hi Lucian:
I’ve partially solved the problems. The plugin that what causing the strange behavior with WP Super cache so I removed it. But I still have the css problem with the aweber form that was working OK. Now on The home page and 2 more categories the CSS works fine, the others no. It seem to be some kind of cache problem.
Now about the images that were scaled instead of load as thumbnails I’ll copy some examples from the gtmetrix report:
The following images are resized in HTML or CSS. Serving scaled images could save 972.7KiB (71% reduction).
Some samples below:
http://www.mujeresdeempresa.com/wp-content/uploads/2003/08/saskia-sassen.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 624×351 to 198×111. Serving a scaled image could save 78.7KiB (89% reduction).
http://www.mujeresdeempresa.com/wp-content/uploads/2002/04/networking2.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 611×427 to 198×138. Serving a scaled image could save 68.9KiB (89% reduction).
http://www.mujeresdeempresa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/02/puck_poster.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 640×381 to 198×117. Serving a scaled image could save 68.6KiB (90% reduction).
http://www.mujeresdeempresa.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/09/isabel_allende.jpg is resized in HTML or CSS from 745×483 to 198×128. Serving a scaled image could save 45.3KiB (92% reduction).
The following image(s) are missing width and/or height attributes.

http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/images/google-logo.png (Dimensions: 106 x 36) (3 uses)
http://pagead2.googlesyndication.com/pagead/images/nessie_icon_tiamat_white.png (Dimensions: 26 x 42)

http://www.mujeresdeempresa.com/wp-content/themes/Newspaper/images/icons/similar-right.png (Dimensions: 6 x 9)
Any ideas?
Thanks for your help.
I removed W3 Total Cache and the issue is back. Not updating mobile version even though the desktop version is fine.
Don’t use total cache… better to have some customizations with super cache and htaccess!
Hi,
This search feature works using js so please make sure you check your browser’s console for js errors when using the search and please make sure you disable all plugins and also empty cache and purge files if you use any cdn hosting services and check again.
Please let me know if you still have issues after this and also provide your site’s URL so I can inspect this.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
Hi,
1. Can you please point out which images aren’t loaded as thumbnails and are scaled? I have checked your site and seems that the thumbs are loaded as it should, you can manually add the image width and height if there are missing, as I have noticed the thumbs I have checked do have img dimensions.
ex:
* http://screencast.com/t/fxItmx5k
* http://screencast.com/t/wJzq8PFr
2. I have noticed that the link points to the category but somehow it redirects to homepage when clicked. Please deactivate the plugins, empty cache and/or purge files if you use any CDN hosting services then check for this issue as a plugin could cause this.
If this dose not helps please go to settings > permalinks and re-save your permalink structure.
When you deactivate plugins make sure you enable them back one by one to check which one is generating this issue.
Please let me know of what you find.
3. Not sure why the css isn’t loaded on category pages, it could be overwritten so if this issue still appears after you deactivate the plugins please try to use this css inside the custom css field: http://pastebin.com/pnMHRG9q
Should fix your issue: http://screencast.com/t/gpkaGGXRe1S
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks Christopher!
@itrejomx
Please use this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-make-the-site-faster/
You should also take a look upon this topic: https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/pagespeed/
Please also consider deactivating the plugins and emptying your cache and also purge files if you use any cache or CDN services and use the speed booster plugin at first without any additional plugins to avoid conflicts.
Hope this helps!
Thanks
