Hi,
I just noticed that my links, on my homepage was not working. I received the following error:
Fatal error: Call to undefined function search_shortcode_net() in /home/directory/public_html/wp-content/themes/canvas-child/header.php on line 143
Does anyone know what this is, and/or how to fix it?

Will I lose Panel settings if I update?
No. If you have not changed the core files of Newspaper Theme and used the settings only through the Theme Panel, updating the Theme will not affect any settings.
However, if you have a very old version of the Theme, you will have to re-create the pages after Updating.
Before each update, developers recommend doing a full backup to your database to avoid losing all of your data and then update the theme via FTP way because this is the surest method in this case.

Hi, pros/cons not updating.
I normally make child theme. No problems in Divi and other themes. Can’t remember issue, but had problems.
Built site, no child theme. No custom CSS. I chose a lot of settings in Newspaper Theme Panel.

I spent hours, no, days. No way could I re-do that now.
WP Bakery indicates it’s old. Got emails from Envato you’ve updated it.
I have NO time to fix errors. MUST launch teaching classes.
Should I update? Should I wait?
Using WP for 12 yrs, always update. But too much riding on this. Using Memberpress and PayPay, probably turning WooCommerce off.

PS I REALLY look forward to styling per category. Been wanting something like this for years. Enjoying Newspaper so far. I don’t say that lightly. Not easy to find themes I can customize readily.

You could edit the post template files in a child theme, add what ever is necessary directly in the post template files used. These are the post templates in the theme

So you could copy the files in the child theme and make the modifications/additions you want there.

I have two categories of product, let’s say A and B.
What I want to do is make Category A use template file single-product-a.php and B use single-product-b.php.

Would it be possible to get a Strava social icon in the next release? I’m having trouble getting it to display the custom route and seeing as none of my changes would be saved anyway(because of the child theme limitations), it would be great to have this in the theme panel.

I think you mean the logo. The post title shows up properly. It is your site logo that does not seem to be working. Please disable all plugins except the page builder and amp plugin, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Maybe the theme did not update or install properly. Please download the theme package again and try again to install it, by FTP would be the most recommended method

Deactivate and remove the tagDiv composer and multi-purpose plugins, then install them again from the latest theme package.
Additionally deactivate all other plugins, do not enter any code in the theme files, temporarily switch to the main theme if you use a child theme. Let us know the results.

You could make a backup of the modified file, and after updating the theme replace the file with the modified one. Or check to see if this file can be overridden by a child theme.

Then something else is causing the website to load with no content. Please try and re-install the theme, if possible by FTP

Do not make any modifications to the theme files after installing, if you use a child theme temporarily switch to the main theme. Leave only theme plugins active as well. There should not be any problem anymore.
If there is, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide admin login information and FTP access. Make a backup of the website before. We will take a look at the issue.
But this method does not work for td AMP and TD Mobile or speed-booster
AND last but not least, it is IMPOSSIBLE to work with a child theme that requires td-composer (it does not recognize the plugins after being uploaded the child theme and activated it).
SO WHAT IS TO DO please ? (I obviously want to work with a child theme).

just activated the main theme and the error message disappeared. For testing, I reactivated the child-theme again and the message is still gone. Everything seems fine now.

thanks for your answer.
I did use the files from the theme package and updated via FTP. I did the following:
- rename unzipped local Theme and Plugin Folders to filename-update
- uploaded the folders to the location they belong
- rename existing files to filename-old
- delete the -update – Part from uploaded folders
- delete the (…)-old Folders
I did this with the Theme and all the Plugins on this screenshot
tg-amp and tg newsletter were not active before but they are now. Error massage persists.
Is it necessary to update the child-theme too? I’m still using previous versions child-theme.
