Hi,
Code entered in the theme panel dedicated sections should not be lost after a theme update. The theme panel custom code sections together with the child theme are considered safe ways to customize the theme.

The child theme has nothing to do with the settings. A child theme is used for code modifications where you go in and hard-code changes in the theme files. If you just make theme settings, the child theme is useless.
Please create a full back-up of your install and then update your theme using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/

When using the theme panel to make changes in child theme there is no “Save Changes” button . says there is an error wp booster didn’t load . Works fine with the Parent them running, just not the child.

And test without any plugins. Disable all plugins except the page builder, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.

Hi,
That would depend on the customization or modifications made through the child theme. Elements from the theme can change after updates, so the code you use might need to be adapted to work with the updated theme.
Try going over the modifications in the child theme, identify what is not working anymore and modify it if needed.

This is regarding the use of child themes.
1. Supposed if I have done some minor CSS edit in the child theme, can I still update both the parent theme AND the child theme? Or do I just update the parent theme only?
2. If I update both, will my custom CSS be affected?
3. And to clarify, for updating, I have to deactivate the previous theme, activate another random theme, delete this previous theme, then upload and install the latest theme, then activate? Same goes for child theme?

I’m not a forum admin but,
it maybe that you have a child theme activated (with update to v8.5 we have some issue on child theme).
Try temporary to re-enable main theme.

Yes, activating the main theme (NO child) is a parzial and temporary solution because you loose all child-theme personalization in your, since some tagDiv programmer will solve completly with a patch.
Update: Can approve this workaround does the job. Still can’t figure out what about childthemes triggers the issue. I tried adding the two files mentioned in the wp-booster folder of the child-theme but it doesn’t seem to do anything.
oooooh so using the original theme instead of a child solves the issue? Because this is exactly what I am getting

my theme child doesnt work in most part of it after upgrading to Newspaper v8.5 (from v8.2).
Some examples:
– plugin HTML5 responsive FAQs stop to work displayn that aren’t faqs to show (but it is not)

I have just noticed that I am using Newpaper 8.0 and spot that 8.5 is already available with a lot of enhancements, bug fixes and a few new features.
Now, I do not have a child theme (I know its my fault), but I have the CSS, Adsense and other files backed up for safety purposes and for convenience. My question is, if i update the theme, will i lose my current website’s setup? (like the way blocks and other content are placed and the information within them) and any CSS, settings and the so included Adsense codes etc? (Javascript and others)
I will be making a child theme soon, but before I do that, i just wanted to clarify this.

I think your custom template name needs to be one word, and that should also be template filename… at least that works for me. Must go in main template folder not child theme.
I’d like to create a new template page, separate from the two pre-defined page templates offered. I am using a child theme of Newspaper. When I create the new template file, I don’t see it in the page template dropdown. Is this possible to create??

I bought the Theme two days ago and I see that a new version is available. There is some quick way to upgrade the new version from panel ?. Where could I find the steps to upgrade the theme?
On the other hand, Where can I find the child theme folder on donwload zip folder. And where can I find the steps to import data from the theme to the child theme and work in it.
