Hello,
If your sidebars disappear after activating the child theme, then it probably means you did not update your child theme. A child theme is not update proof. If the files you have in your child theme were not adapted to the new code, then they have to be replaced with the current version of the files from the main theme.
Thank you!
Hello, is there a particular place where to place tracking code from Google Analytics in order to get a correct overview of the incoming traffic? (post views/users etc).
Currently I have the counter outside the <head></head> section within header.php of Newspaper Child Theme and it seems to miss a significant part of the incoming traffic. Especially when a post hits 500+ more views in a short period of time.
I don’t use a cache plugin.
I use a Child Theme (including header.php)
What is your suggestion?
Thanks in advance.
Hello,
After activating child theme from the /code directory there is no sidebars at all. What else needs to be done?
Hope you can help.
Hello,
I tried that and still did not work. I have no custom code and am not using child theme either.
Hi,
Please try updating the theme using this guide – https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-update-the-theme-2/ The surest method in this regard is by FTP – https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/ Also disable all the plugins except Visual composer and clear the cache. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme. Then try installing the theme again and see if the error is still there.
Thanks
Hello,
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Buna Florin,

Multumesc.
Where would I have to add the snippet you provided above, taking into consideration I am using a child theme ?
Hi,
You can try as a test to disable all the plugins except Visual composer, clear the cache and check to see if the problem is still there. From what I can see there is a different style on the post content properties – https://www.screencast.com/t/vyjMxb2c1MB overriding the theme style. The post content line height and other properties can be changed from the theme panel – https://www.screencast.com/t/kIfhNyyQ
Try deactivating the child theme also if you use it.
Thanks
i realized it’s because of the .td-header-main-menu in style.css of the parent theme (i am using a child theme)
i did
.td-header-main-menu {
background-color: transparent
}
but is there a better way? because when I update the theme it will happen again
Marking this issue as [Resolved] after receiving recommendations from Catalin
This issue is also fixed – > https://forum.tagdiv.com/topic/unwanted-border-and-alignment-of-tiles-in-front-page/#post-162684
What I did to resolve the issue:
– Deactivate third party cache plugins
– Install and activate WP Super Cache as recommended on tagDiv forum
– Delete third party cache plugins
– Revert wordpress theme to NewsMag default; no longer using child theme
Thanks again Catalin, really appreciate your insight.
You seem to be correct regarding the use of child theme possibly causing non-alignment for elements.
As previously mentioned in another thread, this issue is now [Resolved] after reverting theme to default and clearing all caches.
Thanks for your time!
Cheers
Hi,
Unfortunately the mobile theme cannot be overwritten in the child theme, if you want to make modifications to it you will have to make them directly in the theme files. The mobile theme was designed to be as light as possible in regards of performance. You can find all the available documentation about the mobile theme here – https://forum.tagdiv.com/the-mobile-theme/
Thanks
Thanks. Worked like a charm.
unfortunately it seems that the mobile theme doesn’t support a child theme, right?
Hi Bogdan. Seems to be a child theme issue.
Thanks for your help.

Hello,
I tested the tabs again but nothing was found. The tabs work exactly like before.
This could be a plugin conflict so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Hello,
There must be something wrong about your file as the file from the last version has 979 lines of code, not 911
We do not get this error on any of our installs using php 7.0.
First, try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
If the error is still there, please try to reinstall the theme using this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/install-via-ftp/
Thank you!
Hello,
Please try to increase your system status parameters as this guide shows: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
If you use the wordfence plugin, please set the firewall to learning mode.
If this is not the case, then please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Let us know how it goes.
Thank you!
Hello,
I checked your site but I see captions on your images like so: https://www.screencast.com/t/uZkLxTNX
Do certain images get a caption and certain ones don’t? Usually a problem affects all images not just particular ones.
If this is the case, please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hello,
Please try to switch to a wp default theme and see if the spaces come from the theme or not. I can say for sure the theme does not add any spaces or remove spaces on your content. Plugins can do this though so it could be a plugin conflict. If on a WP default theme the spaces are ok, then please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
Hi Team tagDiv,
I am running Newspaper 7.7.1 and Visual Composer 5.1 on website http://www.thecarexpert.co.uk.
When I try to run PHP 7 on my site, I get the following message at the top of the post (post still displays underneath):
Warning: Declaration of td_module_single_base::get_image($thumbType) should be compatible with td_module::get_image($thumbType, $css_image = false) in /home/thecarex/public_html/wp-content/themes/Newspaper-child/includes/wp_booster/td_module_single_base.php on line 911
When I look up line 911 in the file named, it is the very last line and only contains a single }
When I switch back to PHP 5.6, message goes away.
Can you offer any suggestions where I should look to try and fix this?
Many thanks,
stuart
Hi,
1. In order to make the next/prev posts from the single post page display only posts in the same category, you would have to modify the theme code, because there is no option available for this at the moment. Here is where the code is defined – https://www.screencast.com/t/JyuBk2lop if you have the proper coding skills to make the modifications. But please note that this could prove to be a difficult task, so I suggest hiring a developer/freelancer to help you achieve this, because we can not provide custom work at the moment, sorry.
2. The popular category block should order the categories by post count, with the most popular displayed first. Check to see if there have been any modifications to the file responsible with the sorting – https://www.screencast.com/t/yxBHg20P5 This could also be caused by a child theme used, or by a plugin. If you can try to deactivate the child theme and all the plugins except Visual composer, then clear the cache and see if the problem is still there.
Thank you for understanding!
Hello,
Please make sure the system status parameters are set according to this guide: https://forum.tagdiv.com/system-status-parameters-guide/
Also if you use wordfence, please set the firewall in learning mode.
A plugin conflict can also affect the theme panel so please disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. Please also check any custom code you might have added to the theme panel or the theme files. If you use a child theme, please switch to the main theme to make sure it does not affect the proper functionality of the theme.
Thank you!
