I have been going back and forth via email with support, but the info they are sending is not remotely helpful as I’ve already done each of their suggestions.
In my staging area, the upgrade breaks my site. Strips out my logo and all of my content. When I go through the steps to update the plugins, for TagDiv Composer I’m getting both “unauthorized” and “does not have a valid header.” For the others, I’m getting a header error.
I’m really struggling with this update and from the threads here, it looks like I’m not alone. Please advise. Thanks.

when tagdiv composer is active, i get white screen when im trying to connect to wp dashboard.
When i delete or deactivate the plugin via ftp the backend is accessible.
How did you do that? I tried the standard shortcode that comes with the ratings plugin. No luck. I wrote my own shortcode. No luck. I used an inline text block in the composer.
Nevermind. I found and modifed the files in td-Composer Legacy folder. Is there any easy way to allow GIFs as featured image? Just curious
But unfortunately no more transitions work with the activated Tag-Div Composer. That’s really hard to explain to a customer that it’s not possible anymore if you make an update.

I have created a custom single template using the “tag div composer” and I want to apply this template to all the posts already created and using the default single template. Is it possible?
The cloud templates don’t have PHP or code files, they must be built/edited in the composer. You can work on them with the composer in the front end.
Child theme templates are for developers and not for rookies. I need a single line of additional php code in template no. 2. The frontend composer will not help at all. Or can it handle php code?
Sorry, but words really fail me here. And please add a giant disclaimer to the theme description that it can not use a child theme properly. Again, look at the Satollo newsletter plugin. You can override plugin template files putting theme in the extensions folder.

Sorry for the inconvenience, but this is not by choice unfortunately. The theme has to be in accordance with the new Envato rules so these modifications were necessary. Moving the files into the composer plugin has consequences for the child theme as well.
@MKJ That is correct, sorry for the mistake. Maybe a solution will be found, we will make a guide if that will be the case. I can’t say what will happen at the moment, our developers will try to find the best solution.

@Tuudi You can edit edit the cloud templates, not the default templates. These are cloud templates made by us, they can be imported through the cloud library plugin

Please make sure that all the settings are like in our requirements, please follow the guide carefully

and please increase all requirements that are lower, and follow all steps.
WP_MEMORY_LIMIT try to increase it at least to 256mb.
Also please check the php version to be 7-7.2

Please make sure that you do not have a plugin conflict, please deactivate all non theme plugins, also if you are using child theme or cache plugin, please deactivate them, clear all cache and try again.
If there are still a problem please remove the theme and reinstall the theme via FTP.

If you are not using the child theme you can update your theme without problems, from newspaper v9.7 the child theme will support only the changes for style and function file and you can not longer use the child theme for all theme files like in previous version of theme.
But with the new features you can achieve using the header manger, tagDiv Composer and tagDiv Cloud library everything or even more that you can make in child theme.

After updating to v4.8 the tagdiv composer flags the warning “The current content hasn’t been created by TagDiv Composer!” even though it has. This makes the elements completely uneditable. Any idea how we can fix this?

Now the child theme is limited to just a few files. This is a consequence of the recent modifications to the location of theme files, due to Envato requirements. In this case, you will need to make all of your additional customizations through the main theme files.

The Newspaper theme update brings a change for the theme implementation.
When you’ll be updating to the Newspaper 9.7 version, you’ll need to activate the tagDiv Composer to keep the Newspaper theme functionality you’ve previously used.

So now the header template files are in the composer – http://prntscr.com/ng7qe6 You could edit them there, but the modification will have to made again after each update. Files from plugins can’t be modified in a child theme.
An alternative to this is to use a cloud header template. For example set a cloud header template in general, in the theme panel. That will be used in the whole website. In the homepage use a different cloud header template that doesn’t contain an ad.
You can design a header as you want, even import one made by us (and modify it if needed)

In them you can add any element from the composer. You can set a general template that contains an ad, while in the homepage use one with no ad in it.

So now the post template files are in the composer – http://prntscr.com/ng3e26 You could edit them there, but the modification will have to made again after each update. Files from plugins can’t be modified in a child theme.
Maybe there is a different way of adding the code you mention, for example if it can be added by shortcode, you could add a column text in the cloud post template and enter the shortcode in it.

I set the header of my theme and the single post using cloud library.
When I set the header of my site in cloud library mode, I am no longer able to modify my custom single post (with td composer).
When I open this with td composer I get this error: Errors at columns: 2 (models): 8 (dom). The model does not match the content. (but the frontend of whole site works perfectly).
If I set the default header (no cloud library) I am able to edit with td composer my custom single post again, without any problems.
I also noticed that, when I use the icon box in the cloud library header, the site is stuck on the post page.

Well, maybe envato’s terms have these requirements. But these requirements are absolutely opposite to what WordPress says for changes in theme files using a child theme. This is absurd in my opinion. Even so, you could create a function so we’re able to create overrides for the tagdiv composer plugin. There are plenty of plugins to offer that.
Edit: Reading more carefully in Envato’s requirements they don’t say anywhere to remove every override capability https://help.author.envato.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000480723#h_5966589781211522283728890. Unless I’m mistaken. They say:
If a child theme is provided with the theme, it must:
- Load the parent stylesheet using wp_enqueue_style() instead of @import.
- Consist of style.css, functions.php and screenshot.png files at a minimum.
- Append “Child” to the theme name so it can be identified as a child theme.
- Include files within the child theme directory using get_stylesheet_directory().
- Reference the parent theme via Template: parameter in the style.css header
- The child theme will be held to the same standards and best practices as the parent theme. For more information on Child Theme development, refer to WordPress Codex article.
