Our website also so and many were errors not only Visual Composer, image and image slide error also
It is broken for me…However I am using the TagDiv Visual Composer Shim…so I hope there will be an update to that.
Hello all,
I am trying to figure out a way to make my featured images scale or fit in the grid I am using from Visual Composer. I’m not sure if this is a Newspaper problem or a Visual Composer one, but in any case, my newspaper license doesn’t come with tech support from Visual Composer so I really hope you can help me. Check this out:
http://www.boundary2.dreamhosters.com/front-page
Basically, I want to make it so the images automatically resize to fit the grid. I would be OK with it if they were cropped — I don’t want any weird distortion. The key thing is to get rid of those ugly gray bars that are currently surrounding my images.
Widespread reports of WP 4.5 update breaking Visual Composer — however some folks say they have no issue with VC 4.11 included with latest versions of TagDiv themes, other folks online are reporting all kinds of themes breaking with WP 4.5 and VC 4.11.1.
If you are using an OLDER version of VC, and your VC is now broken using TagDiv themes; your first step would be to upgrade your VC to latest version included by TagDiv (4.11), which can be found in your all files download from ThemeForest (in the /plugins/ folder — where else?).
For others where it’s broken using 4.11/4.11.1 — might be due to other plugin/setting and you might need to wait for a 4.11.2/4.12 update — maybe not. If some have the problem and some don’t hard to tell if it’s inherently a VC problem or not.
Follow changelog for update status on VC:
https://wpbakery.atlassian.net/wiki/display/VC/Release+Notes
Other issues with WP reported widely related to the change in the image processing, setup and compression settings. In theory should mot break existing content since images are static. Regenerating thumbs might help with that, but other issue causing break is far more likely (e.g., blocks/rows using VC and not TagDiv blocks CSS might be broken if edited).
TAGDIV likely won’t have update for VC + WP 4.5 until a 4.11.2 or 4.12 version of Visual Composer pushed (follow the above changelog for timeline).
Reports of issues with VC might not “entirely” be solely the fault of VC + WP 4.5, since presumably WPBakery would have tested VC with the RC1/RC1 version of WP 4.5 out in the wild the past month, but perhaps not.
Just some facts for those freaking out.
Good time to build a backup strategy and also disable automatic updates on your WP setup.
Issue is primarily with Visual Composer. I believe they (TagDiv) are waiting on WPbakery to update VC before TagDiv can push an update with the new version.
Also useful to go READ the changes to WordPress for each major full dot update vs ‘patch update.’ Note all the changes to how images work. This means generally you may need to regenerate your thumbs for the new compression optimizations.
Always keep BACK-UP of your working site, before doing ANY major update to WP, so you can seamlessly ROLL BACK to prior version. Good time to plan for that as it’s a basic WP admin skill everybody running a website that is more than a blog should learn.
I no longer provide help/support around these parts, but popped in to see how the fur was flying before I even attempted my updates. Also checked the VC support forum where everybody freaking out.
ALSO be aware that WP sometimes have its own inherent bugs — but normally those should have been tested by major plugin devs (ahem WPBakery you froods!) with the RC1 and RC2 versions prior to WP releasing latest build today as stable version.
Anyway…. just some feedback as long time lurker here (2.5 years so far … ) 🙂
Roll back if you can. Try disabling VC if you can’t.
Also good time to make sure you disable auto-updates of WP core files, if you don’t already do that.
Ok. I just update Visual composer to 4.11. I download my theme ( Newspaper 6 ) again and in the includes/plugins folder was js_composer version 4.11.
Fixed my problem.
I have the same issue, but unfortunately I can not roll back to wordpress 4.4.
Anyone have any ideas on how to fixe Visual Composer
Thanks

Hi,
please help!
I add custom body class code thrue theme panel and every page that I enter has this error: wpb-js-composer js-comp-ver-4.11 vc_responsive td-animation-stack-type0 td-boxed-layout td-ad-background-link” itemscope=”itemscope” itemtype=”http://schema.org/WebPage”>
Where can I remove custom body class code?
I see that my Newspaper license does not grant me support for VC from WP Bakery, so hopefully you folks can help.
I have a site with a large number of downloads (intranet). I’ve been trying a few “download manager” plugins (Download Monitor, WPDownload Manager). These plugins basically make a custom post type for their content. I can get something close to what I want as shown here:

My VC question is this. The block settings allow me to filter by category ID, slug, etc. and also allow to select a custom post type as shown below:

So what’s the proper way to filter on category when using a custom post type. A very VC-centric question, but seeing as I’m not allowed to ask without a real VC license, I’m asking here. Developers of both download plugins are willing to help to some extent, but obviously they can’t do much without knowing how this VC filtering system works.
Help! Last step in getting this site live. Downloads are THE centerpiece of this site.
I think 4.5 broke Visual Composer in our install. I started a thread after yours.
We just updated to 4.5 this morning, and it looks to have broken Visual Composer.
We are hosted on WPEngine.com.
Visual Composer just shows blank.
However, when you go back to classic mode, you can see the post to edit.
We just did a restore back to before 4.5, and now it is working. So the error is definitely with the WordPress Update.
Hi,
Unfortunately that layout will not work with our theme. Please follow this guide to properly use visual composer: https://forum.tagdiv.com/how-to-use-visual-composer/
Other column layout besides the 3 columns shown in the guide will not work properly.
For a left sidebar, the best way to do it is create it in the widgets area and select it from the theme panel in the category layouts: http://screencast.com/t/6szFBB93
Thank you!
Hello whitenet,
Unfortunately, our theme does not work fine with Frontend editor and our developers decide to exclude it from the theme. You can enable the Visual Composer frontend editor by removing this code from theme’s functions – http://screencast.com/t/1N4LB7WhP2jR but unfortunately, will not work properly if you have tag div blocks on the page.
Thanks.
You’ll get the new version of Visual Composer plugin as soon as the team at TagDiv finishes testing the new version. You can’t update it on your end unless the new version of the plugin doesn’t come bundled up with an updated version of Newspaper. If you want automatic updates enabled for the composer plugin then you’ll have to buy the Visual Composer separately 🙂
Cheers!
Regards,
TagDiv Newspaper Theme User
I guess I can see how to filter by category in the visual composer, but how do I access what the shortcode would be?
Thanks.
Hello,
Using Visual Composer, I have created this structure on a page, which is going to be the homepage template.
The problem is, block 18 doesn’t seem to fit and adapt itself into the center column and it appears narrowed.
This is how it appears
How can I solve this problem?
Hi,
You can use visual composer and the author box settings to do it. Simply split the row in 2 columns and add 2 author boxes like so: http://screencast.com/t/dPymvqIZ
You will need the author ID’s for the settings.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Hello ankush,
Unfortunately, we cannot release the automatic update for Visual Composer because each new version of Visual Composer is still necessary to check deeper before launching this. If we will do as you say above, it would be more likely that the theme will not work as properly and probably you will request our help to fix that. Please keep in mind that we want to avoid these cases and we want that our theme to work as expected. I hope that you understand my message. If you disagree with this schedule, you can buy the Visual Composer plugin and all the issues that appear in our theme you will have to contact the Visual Composer support.
Thank you!
Hello,
I’ve read and done everything that is explained in the documentation, erase the plugin and install it from the plugins that i download with the theme but it continue tell me to activate it: ” In order to receive all benefits of Visual Composer you need to activate your copy of plugin. By activating Visual Composer license you will unlock premium options – direct plugin updates and access to official support. ”
Thanks
Hello armagri,
I have checked your website and source page and I noticed that you are using a lot of untested plugins which could interact with the theme and create a lot of unknown issues. Please try to disable all the active plugins, leave just Visual Composer to active, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. After this, you should try to install your plugins one by one and check what is the culprit that cause this design issue and try to find an alternative and replace this plugin with another one which has the same functionality and implement in your theme and check how it work for you.
If you problem is still there without these kinds of untested plugins, please let us know.
Thank you for your understanding!
Hi,
Please try to disable all plugins except visual composer, clear cache and reset cdn files if you use it. There could be a plugin conflicting with the setting. if it still does not work, then please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com and provide wp-admin so we can inspect this issue. Also provide a link to this topic so we can identify you.
Thank you!
Hi,
1) If you want to have the homepage exactly like the one in our demo, then simply install the default demo with content from here and it will be created automatically for you: http://screencast.com/t/pxg0tmg8Bgxa
If you do not want the demo content, then please follow this guide to see how to use visual composer and make use of modules and blocks to get your desired layout: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ss-BEobegAw
Please read the documentation as well as you will find lots of useful information in there about the theme settings.
2) The sidebars can be found here: http://screencast.com/t/rhLu9CAWfLFJ
Here is a link to the documentation: https://forum.tagdiv.com/wordpress-information/
Thank you!
Hi,
Buddypress is compatible with our theme, but that only means it works with the theme, not that there will be implementation from one plugin to another. Woocommerce has this by default as they have an agreement with visual composer. We are not the authors of any of these plugins so we cannot dictate what visual composer will contain or not. Buddypress seems to need an add-on if you want to use it together with visual composer. That depends only on the plugin authors and we have no say in it.
Thank you!
Hello javierpenia,
Unfortunately, for your first request, please notice that is talking about Aspect Ratio.
Your Video has been registered with a specific aspect ratio that differs to our aspect ratio used by the theme Those black bands appear to your featured image when these characteristics are different (aspect ratio). As I explained you in the previous reply, our theme uses a specific cropping system, namely center to top. In your case, if you want to display the featured video you need by another system cropping which should be implemented on your theme and which involve custom work. Please notice that is not a simple task and if you are not aware of the steps in this regard, please consider hiring a freelancer/developer to help you because we cannot provide customization services at the moment, sorry! For more information about Aspect Ratio system, please consult our documentation here -> https://forum.tagdiv.com/theme-thumbs/
For your second request, please try to disable all the plugins, leave just Visual Composer and Thumbnail Regeneration to active, clear all cache and install only the plugins that come bundled with our theme and rule out the conflicting plugins. It is possible to have some interference in your theme generated by your untested plugins which can cause some unknown issues.
After this advice, if your problem is still theme with your thumbnails and if you need more assistance in this regard, please send us an email at contact@tagdiv.com with your log-in information (wp-admin) so I can further inspect your setup page. Also, please provide the link of this topic so we can know who you are and what the issue is.
Hope this helps!
Thank you for the message!
